Pretty damn magical, with rustic charm, rooms full of antiques and ample porch space to sit and drink a beer in the dark at 11pm. Somehow, also very reasonably priced and conveniently located in the same building as most of the shops in town. This place will have you browsing Zillow for local real estate as soon as you've got your room keys.

Where to start!! This gem was one of the best parts of our 3 week trip! Road closures forced us to quickly find a hotel and we were lucky to get one of the last rooms in town! Boy did we luck out! Spotless is the first thing I noticed. The warm, friendly welcome of the owner and her staff was so wonderful! The place is like a museum…a gorgeous ,meticulously kept up, heritage building. Our room was massive with all the comforts guests would need! The bed was oh so comfortable with high quality bedding! The soaker claw foot tub for 2 was a needed bonus! Then there was a massive shower with two shower heads!! Wifi was strong, water was excellent pressure and plenty of hot water! But wait there is more… a kitchen for guests to use with teas coffee hot chocolate microwave and fridge and ice maker. There is also a large living room area with an toasty wood fireplace going and games to play! And then to our surprise the price was totally reasonable with a 24 $ credit to the 2 restaurants they have on site! We had an amazing breakfast at their restaurant!! For dinner we ate at the Axe and Rose it was fantastic food and drinks and service were great!! This cute little town is worth the visit! I just wish we had more time to explore and stay with these lovely people!!

What a beautiful historic hotel, with hotel proprietors who are the absolute “BEST!” Our brand new car broke down in McCloud and the owners went out of their way to help ease our difficult situation. The rooms are beautiful and clean…and one is embraced like family. Lovely food is easily available on the premises or down the road. The beauty of Mt. Shasta is dropped into one’s lap if one stays here…there is a magic in McCloud not to be missed…~Dr. Madill and Hilary

We stayed at the McCloud Mercantile Hotel for our anniversary this past weekend in the Shasta Wintu room. It was SO romantic and absolutely exceeded our expectations. The building has been restored and up kept beautifully and the room was very clean and the atmosphere cozy. We almost never sleep well our first night away from home and both of us got a great nights sleep the first night. Truly a gem of a place to stay. The breakfast credit toward either of the breakfast places downstairs was wonderful and both breakfasts were delicious. We won’t stay anywhere else if we visit Shasta again. I look forward to checking out the other rooms! 5 stars!

The absolute sweetest family runs this hotel & owns the building and I couldn’t recommend them more! Not only did they help me get back into my car when I locked myself out on Christmas Day but they were so insanely sweet and helpful to me overall too! They have a habit of helping out all their hotel guests, as I learned when every guest greeted them like family. The whole building has the cutest small town charm and the family that runs it fits right in. The entire town felt so clean and safe and just welcoming! I would come back over and over just for them!

It was a wonderful shopping experience. I bought shirts and sweatshirts snd games for Christmas gifts. The best customer service I have had in years. The gentleman that heard my clothing request went out of his way to fill my shopping list. He listened and was knowledgeable about the different sizes and brands. I particularly liked the quality of the products in the store. What a beautiful experience from start to finish. I was so grateful to get gift boxes and tissue for wrapping.

Brussel Sprouts, Poutine, and a big ole Taco!!!!! What a delicious meal at such a quaint spot! Eating in a literal old meat locker was really cool! Definitely will be going back! The staff, the manager, and even the dishwasher were all super duper kind!

One of our favorite places to stay! All the rooms offer unique and charming decor. Love the special touches they add! Great food is within walking distance. We've been 3 times in the last 2 months for a quick 24 hour getaway & loved it.

My husband and I and our two dogs stayed at McCloud Mercantile Hotel the night of Thanksgiving and it was extremely comfortable- the photos of their pet friendly room "Whispers Den" really don't do it justice. The room was much larger than expected and well appointed, Cal-King bed, fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. I loved how the pet friendly room is set aside of the main building with a grassy area - it really was perfect for pups. Unfortunately because of COVID and the Holiday basically all the stores/restaurants were closed while we were there but a breakfast credit was included in the nightly rate and we were able to get two full breakfasts at the beautifully restored White Mountain Cafe for under $10 before we headed out- it was delicious. Would love to revisit and check out more of the area in the future.

Loved this hotel! Views of Mt Shasta from my bubble bath in the Shasta Winter room were incredible. This room was amazing. Spacious and inviting, you won't be disappointed, I can promise you that! The shopping on the first floor of the building is fun and the restaurants are very good. Hiked Squaw Valley Trail which was beautiful in mid November.

Wonderful charming hotel locally owned and managed. The rooms are immaculately cleaned, charming and comfortable. Our last room had a fireplace, jacuzzi and an epic view of Mt. Shasta to wake up to. We enjoyed the place so much, we stayed an extra night. Book directly with the hotel and ask for Kevin if he's around. You won't regret your stay at this charming place.

Look, this place is just cool. It's the original mall with living over the top and it's kept beautifully. The shop is cool, the breakfast place is nice and the hotel itself is fantastic, I've stayed in the railroad room twice and probably will again. Lots of room, great bathroom, neat the entrance and right off the common room.

This place was amazing, very clean very spacious and great amenities. One plus would be light proof curtains the sun was coming through the blinds at 5:45am way too early wake on a vacation 😴 other than that definitely a nice place to stay at. P.s. the toiletries were amazing good quality and great peppermint sent 👌✨

This is one of my favorite places. The rooms are all amazing. Stayed in the founder's suite several times now and it's always such a treat. The clawfoot tub is beautiful, the double shower is huge and the bed is the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. The toiletries are amazing and smell so good! The staff is so friendly and helpful. They go out of the way to make your stay as great as possible. The breakfast downstairs is absolutely delicious. If you are ever near McCloud be sure to book a room at the Mercantile.

Incredibly unique and special hotel in wonderful little mountain town. Each room has its own theme and decor, all share access to a common area, and everywhere you look are gorgeous old pieces of furniture and original fixtures. Plus, each room come with breakfast from one of two quality restaurant options.

What an amazing place! We stayed here on our move from Washington to Southern California last week and we couldn't have picked a better place. We stayed in the Shasta Wintu suite and the room was so nice that even if it was just for the night, we were able to relax and forget we were in the middle of a pandemic. Though we only corresponded via telephone, Darlene and Kevin were wonderful and super accommodating. We will definitely be making a trip here again once things settle down.

Beautiful rooms, beautiful setting, old timey but modern. Very clean and comfortable. There's a common room that has a full size fridge, sink, tea kettle, dish washer, microwave, & seating. Our room had a view of Mt. Shasta out the window. Candy store, 3 restaurants and a haberdashery right downstairs. Quiet town. No hair dryer, so bring your own if you want it.

Beautiful clean rooms. Great weekend hideaway. Fantastic tubs. Rustic charm. Well worth the drive in off i5. Beautiful little historic town. We awoke to the view from our suite of the sun rising on snowed over Mt. Shasta.

I love staying here and attending my quilt retreats here twice a year. It's beautiful and the view from my room faces Mt. Shasta. I can see it from my large king bed. The hotel rooms are really nice and are like the old fashion days. The Mercantile store has one of a kind items, I love to shop there. The area upstairs where about 30 to 36 of us ladies sew is quite lovely. I could just hang out and walk thru this building for days!

The town was having there Christmas festival. It was a fun time. Before stopping in town we went Christmas tree hunting and found a nice tree. It was a great day and we topped it off having beer and pizza at Siskiyou Brewing Works.

Amazing, fun, unique! We love this place! Second time to stay overnight. We spent our honeymoon here this time in the "Charles Miller" room and it was so romantic. We live only 90 minutes away but will definitely come back soon!
