Very rude employees and lazy! I was so disgusted after shopping at the store located in Maywood! Wow! I am an elderly woman who is disabled. I was in my my scooter which is my wheelchair. As I was paying for my items, I only needed one penny, ONE. Darnet! I struggled a little trying to look for that penny in my purse. Okay, never found it. I told the girl that I was sorry and I told her I only needed one more penny. To explain myself, I needed four cents but I only had three. I asked her, "You don't want the three cents do you?" I laughed. I really didn't expect her to be happy and let me get away with a penny, but I am going to be realistic and admit that I thought she'd have a blessed attitude or heart and either don't say anything or say something polite like, "I'm sorry for that, I wish I could help but my manager..." SOMETHING polite! What bothered me was that she said, "Oh, no, I can't. I don't have any change, if I did I'd give it to you." This is what I said, "I'm not asking you for change. I've worked hard before. I was just making that comment because I had a hard time looking for a penny, and when I am cleaning my house, I find a penny and leave it on the table not caring about that penny and now I need it. I'm not asking you for change." She replied nervously that she didn't mean it that way. For my personal view and feelings here, yes she did, and I just saw an ignorant person who thinks she's probably perfect and doesn't appreciate seeing kindness. I was appalled and wondered how she must treat individuals who are less fortunate. I wonder how she treats homeless people and talks about them out there in the street or what she thinks people are human. I don't care to meet with this lady again and I will not be going back to this store ever again! She disgusted me and seems like she's stuck up in her own way or something. This lady made my whole night just for that one little comment and I broke out with anxiety horribly! People need to be careful about the way they say things and maybe these employees need training on how to communicate with public. As a previous teacher or educator, she does not know who she has just met up with and who has a lot more knowledge than probably she does! I would never lie here to tell you that these people that work in the store are very rude and so are some of the customers. I do not like the environment here. It seems that people are rude and are not educated, whatsoever regarding etiquette behavior. We don't have to play a fancy world, I say, but let's be kind and a little generous. Let's be respectful about how we say things. Sometimes you just don't know who you bump into! I've known a couple of people in my life that I feel for who became homeless at a time in their life, and I truly hope they never bumped into her or people like her. God bless the innocent.

Disappointed with how the manager handled my situation. My glass plant pot broke inside the store and when I asked if I could switch it, manager said no. The prices of the items are deceiving too so be careful when buying.

No longer 99 cents. Even the items with 99cents label on the actual item. I had an issue at checkout yesterday. There's a sign on every register about a charge for the fill of a Mylar Balloon (that's not the issue) issue was that the cashier said they dont fill the balloons... Then why is there a laminated sign that clearly has a price for a Mylar balloon fill??

Not the 99cent store anymore... the prices are higher and the quality is lower ... and the reverse discrimination on the 99store companies are amazing ... people's selling food in the parking lot ... their are laws for food temperature's and hiring people because they speak spanish only ... 99 what the problem ...

Nice, and sweet. Many snacks, and refrigerated food items. Avocadoes are medium size and fairly priced at $1.50. shipped from Peru. The store is small, but customers can find most merchandise, and food items cheaper than at a supermarket, and hardware store.

A lot of items are not properly marked so you don't know the price until you get to the register. Really good deals every so often. The rest of the items are regular price.

The shelfs are fully stocked and has a lot of seasonal items that are very cute. The aisles are nice and clean and the lines are not as long as other 99 cents store than I've been too plus there is a public restroom. Only reason why I don't give it 5 stars is because the parking lot is always full scattered carts everywhere I suggest when there is no long lines have the cashiers go gather the carts or sales associate. As well as better customer service from employees that are on the sales floor but other than that it's one of the best 99 cent store I been too due to their instock.

Parking can be difficult to find during busy times since they share a parking lot with Craft Depot and DD's. The store always has a good selection of items, unfortunately not everything is as low as a dollar anymore, I have seen a few toys that were priced around $10. This store has a good selection of decorations, snacks, and even alcohol. If you purchase cold foods make sure you glance at the expiration date, I have accidentally bought expired food on multiple occasions.

my family and i love coming here, their quality is just going up and up. I guess sometimes they don't really care much for their live stock. The plants that wilt, they just end up throwing them in the dumpster, my mom noticed this once, and took them home, and now they look so beautiful in our garden

I really enjoying shopping at this store. They have so many things. Every time I go I find something new. But I have a big problem. Most of the employees are very nice people. There is this one lady in particular, she's African American (I'm not saying this as a racial thing) but just so that some of you know or maybe have had this experience with her. She has such an ugly, nasty, and very unprofessional attitude. She never greets people, she even tossed my items after she bagged them. She tossed my receipt on floor. If that bothers her, I do not have any issue packing my own things because I don't want them being thrown at me after I am the one paying for the items. I've worked in customer service for so long I have even worked at a 99 cent store and this was not acceptable at my job or any job. This lady has issues or something but whatever it is she needs to leave that at home. Or if she simple doesn't want to have as much contact with people then simply move to the floor. She won't have to be greeting people there (not like she does it anyway).

Past review update: I would like to congratulate the owner, manager, and all staff from this store. I had lost hope and believed that its better days were over. And boy, did they wake me up! This store pulled off a 180... It's clean, well stocked, and is doing so much better.Pros:1. Most of the staff is friendly, professional and respectful2. Cleanliness of store3. Well stocked with the items that the average home needs.4. More than plenty CSR's to keep running everything running smooth, eg. Now, before a cashier becomes overwhelmed with customers, another cashier is called to open another register5. Staff is mostly young, energized and always seems to be in the best of moods.Cons:There's still a couple of people that either don't want to be here or shouldn't be here. I'm sure management will root these bad elements out or put them through a customer service refresher course.Hope this store continues to advance in this direction. As of 11/27/2018 this store is once again my personal favorite. Thank you
