We were on a long road trip and just happened upon this gem. Admittedly we had no idea what type of food or place this was going to be as we came to it. “Sour Rob’s” wasn’t obvious from the outside. The inside looks like they’re working on freshening it up with new flooring, newly covered seats and paint. They have build your own burgers and build your own pizza. We ordered a pizza- it’s fresh dough and my family said the pizza was delicious! I ordered a salad, I really enjoyed the fresh crisp veggies and specially the olives! The gentleman working was a great server and friendly.

I didn't think they made places like this anymore but I was wrong. Rob and his staff make just about everything here from scratch down to most of the sauces. When I was ordering, Rob was just starting to cut into a massive side of what turned out to be pork for the pulled pork sandwich. Philly cheesesteak was solid (I decided open face was three way to go for me) and both small pizzas were great too. Sour Robs is wonderful diner in a very small town off of I-5. Who would guess the food quality could be this high? There are many great reviews and well deserved. What can I add? Imagine going to a close friend's place and discovering just how great a cook he is. The atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious, you order in anticipation because of the reviews you have read. You have already picked out what to order in the car on the way there ... and you are still blown away. We tried the battered chicken wings with garlic butter dipped into homemade ranch dressing. I could have eaten a few more orders; fresh, hot, juicy, delicious! Then Robs Spicy Burger: a fresh made sourdough bun with Harris Ranch beef and all the toppings; the burger does not fall apart, and the pillow soft bun makes it unique. The fries were perfect. Finally, a small size Rob's Favorite pizza. Again, the crust is the star and toppings bring it all together. I heard about the Sunday only Cinnamon Rolls. We may need to adjust our travel date to try these out. Can't say enough good things about Sour Robs. You can also buy sourdough boules at the counter.

Stopped in on the way home from Chico. Ultimate Cheeseburger and Cheeseburger and fries were excellent! . And the bread/buns -made at their restaurant- is something to experience. You will not regret it - it's really good.Features: Clean, plenty of room between tables

Definitely a nice addition to our little town. I got the spicy rob. I really liked the soft bun and it wasn’t too spicy but just right! Would recommend and definitely coming back.

We came on New Years Eve for lunch. They were slammed with orders but still got our order out quickly. Neither of us ordered pizza, but we saw quite a few orders come out while there and are already planning for next time. We got the chicken sandwich and the bacon sour. The sourdough buns were great. Soft but strong enough to hold everything together. I was impressed with the quality of both the beef and the chicken. I am picky when it comes to meat and both were excellent. Onion strings were the best I’ve ever had. Fries were yummy too and paired well with the homemade sauces. Highly recommend!

Wow. Quality quality quality. The sourdough is made fresh every morning, the beef comes from the town up and the dressings are all homemade. Rob, Chris and Travis make this place so friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be regulars here!

We got Tammy special pizza today! Sour Robs is the best pizza you will find off I-5. We have not tried something we haven’t liked. Pizza, burgers, fries and appetizers. Recommend to stop by.

This place is adorable! The decor is really well thought out. The staff is kind and helpful. The menu is pizza and burgers but you can really tell that each thing has a lot of work put into it. Super excited to have this in our community.

Stopped for a bathroom break on the way to Oregon. We had already eaten about an hr prior, so I decided to try out a chocolate shake. Didn't disappoint 😊. I'm going to assume it was the owner who I spoke with and who made me the shake, he was really nice and welcoming. While I waited for the shake I took a look at the walls which displayed some musical artists with autographed photos/shout outs to the owner. Also had a giant map of the U.S. with a ton of different colored push pins, it read "show us where your from". There have been people from all over, pretty cool to see. Def recommend this place. I didn't try the food, but I'm sure it's just as delicious as the milkshake. Oh and if your in the mood for pizza but just for you, the sell pizza by the 🍕.

The picture below shows whats left of the Philly Cheesteak! Words cannot describe how EPIC that sandwich was. The handmade sourdough bun took that Philly Cheesesteak to the damn STRATOSPHERE! Stop by this place, your stomach and tastebuds will thank you for it!

Hands down one of the best places I’ve ever eaten. Robert and Tammy were super friendly and the food was excellent. I highly recommend this place if you are ever in Maxwell or anywhere near by. We came from Napa and it was well worth the drive. We will absolutely be back!Parking: Plenty of parking and it’s right up front.

The best food I have found in Northern california. In-house made sourdough buns and bread, sourdough pizza, and all of the sauces are custom made in-house. Delicious custom twists on some of your favorite dishes. Everything is fresh no frozen food here. The place is a Hidden Gem. If you're ever traveling down Interstate 5 in or anywhere near Maxwell don't pass it up.

Had lunch there, my husband had the pizza and it was amazing, I had the Italian wrap and it was really good, our son had the kids chicken tenders and they were good as well. The fries are super tasty. Only thing that could use improvement is the ranch, it seemed homemade (which I was excited about) but it needed more ranch flavor, it was about too sour cream tasting still. Other then that everything was so good and we plan on visiting again

Stopped by on our way through. We love sourdough bread and thought we’d give it a try.The sourdough is good but I wouldn’t really call it true sourdough. It certainly isn’t Boudin’s of San Francisco but it’s a step away from traditional white bread.The breadsticks are pretty plain but still good. It didn’t say it came with a sauce for dipping but they gave us a pat of butter, then charged us for it.We got the pizza. The outer crust was pretty good, but the middle of the pizza was pretty thin and didn’t seem to be cooked all the way through. Maybe too much sauce??The waitress/owner asked if we wanted some ranch dressing for the pizza. Made each day in house. It tasted like regular ranch dressing but heavy on the dill. So if you like dill, you’ll like the ranch.When we got the bill we saw that they charged us for every single sauce: the butter and 2 ranch. While it’s not much, it’s good customer service to let your customers know that it’ll be an extra charge.Then when we got a box for the left over pizza, they took the sauce which I paid for! We had a lot of sauce left over too! I thought that was kinda sneaky.While the food was good, I wouldn’t really call it sourdough. Service was nice but be prepared to be nickel and dimed which will be a surprise when you get the bill!

Everyone was super sweet, especially the cashier. She patiently waited as each of my littles placed their orders.The restaurant was clean. The food was delicious! The kids ordered from the kid menu and received food that was the same great quality as the regular menu. We had the pizza and burgers. Everyone raves about the bread and it deserves the accolades but the beef was seasoned and grilled perfectly! We will definitely be back for this local favorite.
