Markleeville is a gem and so is this charming, old fashioned general store. I stopped by on my way to the Woollystar Music Festival. The rustic vibes made me feel like I had stepped back in time. They carry a lot of essentials you'd need for a weekend in a cabin or camping beneath the stars, and they have a surprisingly good selection of alcohol. Super friendly staff, too. Best of luck to the new owners!

The store has all the basics you need if you’re out camping and then some. They cater to anglers and campers. Large selection of fishing Lewers and miscellaneous camping gear. They also have a pretty good frozen food section. The store has a lot of history behind it. The original store burned in wildfire in 1895. When it was rebuilt it was turned into a butcher shop for many years. In the early 1900s he went back to a general store and still serves the town of Markleeville today

I feel like this little stop is reliable. We just visited even though all the roads out south were closed for snow and it was still open. And, I am SO THANKFUL that they maintain a little restroom out back as a courtesy (keep it clean people). This is our go-to stop when we're out exploring the area. Cute spot, right next to Sheriff station and across from the creek.

Small general/grocery store in the whole town. Plenty of fishing 🎣 products and fishing trophy pics on store walls.

I can't remember the first time I visited the Markleeville General Store. It was maybe 40 or more years ago. But I DO recall some things much more important than that -- the friendly, small town service and the wide variety of items available in a relatively small space. Incredibly, those two qualities are still on display in this little gem of a market. Consistency is a major plus here.There's an old, weather-worn 7-Up sign adorning the north wall outside the building with a slogan long ago abandoned by the soft drink giant. It says, "YOU LIKE IT - IT LIKES YOU". That seems to be the philosophy of the folks who run this place, and it's a message that can't be weakened by time. Corporate America could learn a lot from this little store.

Wow. Great people. Seriously, go out of your way to visit. Highly recommend. I called Deanne (owner), asked her an impossible question and requested an extraordinary request, and she was able to fully satisfy our family's special need. Super wow. Thanks to all the staff!!!

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Store is clean, always stocked with almost any essential. If you're in the area, stop in. Don't forget to buy ice! FYI: They close at 6pm. Great place. Will return!

This little country store is so cute and always has what we forget at home. Its a must stop to grab some ice cream after a long day of fishing. Plus if you catch a fish and you take it to them then they will take your picture and put you up on the wall.

A very well stocked general store with fishing and camping supplies. Service is friendly and helpful. Beechers Aged Reserve Cheddar! In a general store in Markleeville! They always have what you need, and if you are camping nearby, or in a cabin, they are indispensable. Oh, good beer selection, too.

Unfortunately this lil gem of a town seems to have taken a dive.... last time i was here it had a few stores and ice cream parlor..... not any more....
