the campground is exquisitely glorious, however there are a few sites you don't want to camp at. Small, no level ground, not much shade. Most of them are very nice though. As for the hot springs pool experience, no thanks. Hiking there a see the natural springs was cool, but the bathing experience was a non-starter for me. In fact, the day we were there, they were shut down to the public indefinitely, until they could meet public health standards....don't let this deter you . The camping is exquisiteRestrooms: clean, showers need a token. they pass the sniff test other then the gaps in the stall doors, jesus!Dog-friendliness: Dogs are ok...might be bear bait if small. :) jk, we are all bear bait.

This is a park with beautiful mountain views, lush meadows, and great hiking trails. Dogs must be on a leash. One of the trails goes up to a cascading waterfall! The hot spring pools are closed now for repair. The campground is open and very popular, make reservations.

Love the new reservation system. Fun to soak in the heated pool, and also cool off in the regular pool. I only wish they didn't start draining the pool for the evening before our time was up. But 1.5 hours is plenty to enjoy.

Camping is very nice. Large sites with picnic tables, Bear lockers, fire pit. Water faucets scattered throughout the site. No hookups for RVs.Bathrooms have flush toilets. Some have token operated showers. Water temp is nice and hot. There is a super nice trail that is worth taking to Burnside lake. But take lots of water. It’s 5 miles and 2000’ feet up.The hot spring is also very nice. Make reservations to get a time slot of your choosing. Last slot of the day is 5:30. The 2 pools are small but accommodate 75 people total. There is one 70-80 degree one and another about 100+ degrees. Sit on the far end and enjoy the really hot water.

Nice campsites which are nicely spaced. The bathrooms are nicely kept. Flush toilets and token operated showers. Hot pools are not available at present. Takes at least an hour to get back to Tahoe if you are using this as a base for exploring

Great campsites, great trails, and a great set of carefully regulated hot springs that are good all year round (if not closed due to snow). There are beautiful cascades near the campground. The hot springs facilities are very good, with a cold pool and a hot pool. Great for kids too.

Had the most excellent time here, the staff is super friendly and helpful. My skin and hair felt rejuvinated and came out silky smooth! Water was nice and warm, *tip* when entering the facility, the left side of the pool is a lot hotter than the right side. There is also a cool down pool which is nice! Oh also make sure to make a reservation before showing up, dont be fooled by my photos they sell out and they were taken during a change over.

The most beautiful place I’ve ever been camping at! Super super cold at night so be sure to pack lots of warm clothes! The campgrounds are very clean and each space has lots of room for all the campers to stay comfortably.

These days it cost a lot more to swim at the pools but it's still worth it. Its $10 for about an hour and a half of swimming or soaking and that's because they shut down and sanitize everything before the next shift. The employees at the State Park are fantastic. Namely, Russell at the pools and Virginia at the ranger station. I went September 2020 and notice there's a plague warning for the park. Apparently the ground squirrels and chipmunks have been known to carry the plague. Frightening! But... Don't be frightened. I don't think I caught the plague so I think everyone's going to be okay. Just don't feed the wild animals. When you go camping here your cell phone probably won't work. So if you want to listen to music you better save some to your cell phone so that you can listen to it on your Bluetooth speaker. I don't have Verizon so I don't know if that works out there. If you really need internet just drive to town and go to the library and you can use the free Wi-Fi there 2 help your phone work.

Nice Camp grounds. The walk to the waterfall was a lot of fun. However there is active bears. Also the camp ground hosts in our area were very overbearing, probably won't be visiting again because of that.

We really enjoyed our spring hike through the semi snow covered trails. We got a bit lost at first but made our way to the falls, and back much quicker. Carried a small dog on the return trip - so the terrain wasn’t too challenging even with snow cover.

We didn't go to the Hot Springs but loved everything about this campground. Site #12 was perfect for 2 tents and 2 cars. The creek was close by and had a couple of swimming holes. Quiet campground with loads of space between sites. Shady pines and easy trail to amazing waterfalls or challenging vertical hikes to mountain vistas and lakes. Bonus; the town of Markleeville has a couple of wonderful restaurants.. Loved the brewery!

My family and friends from church reserved some spots for the weekend. We had a great time. There is a water fall you can hike to and a stream to swim and fish at. There was a bathroom next to our camp. It had sinks outside to wash your clothes, toilets and showers. They have bear boxes at every site and rocks to have a fire. They also have a pool and hot springs you can pay to go in but we did not go there.

Pools are chlorinated. Beautiful location but they haven’t made the most of it with presentation and design. Inexpensive - $10 for adult entry for pools.

The hot spring pool was nice and hot. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was a fun experience to sit in the hot spring during the cold fall weather.

Probably this is the last time me and my friends will go there, there are some issues that nobody took care in 3 years since they close it. One shower and one changing room for men and women, and no lights inside. Now you pay $10 for 1:30 hour and you stay 20 minutes in line to change your clothes, $10 per car as wellRude staff, and in more than 10 years nothing is been remodeled or improved.Do yourself a favor and go somewhere elseIf I had a chance I wouldn’t even put one starShame on you guys😒😒Very disappointed, rude staff,

This is a fantastic place! Great views and great activities. While there isn't much to do, what there is has a lot to go for it. The obvious activity to go from is the hot springs. They were pretty relaxing, with a normal pool too. My only gripe is how shallow the pool is with the spring water, only 2-3 feet.If you are planning a trip here, make sure you do it in the winter! It's an amazing day to go from hiking in the snow to a pool with 110 degree water. All in all, not a bad way to spend the day.

A very family friendly in Hot Springs. The Hope Valley is absolutely stunning. The stark mountain views are breathtaking any time of the year. The mineral rich water remained hidden below the Jeffrey pine trees and the stark mountains of Alpine County until 1844 when explorers came along. John Freemont and Kit Carson got stuck in the snow, and the Washoe people rescued them and showed them the hot water that melted through the snow and ice. Today, the secret is out, and the once hidden hot spring has become a popular tourist attraction just outside Markleeville, California.Grover Hot Springs has six different hot water areas that percolate out of, what is now, Hot Springs Valley. The 148 degree water is cooled down and pumped into a family friendly pool. It's a beautiful area with cascading creeks, scenic hiking trails and stunning mountain views. The valley was discovered and rediscovered by many early settlers, but Alvin Merrill Grover was the first to capitalize on the hot springs. Only 14 years old, he ended up at the hot springs in the 1860's during the silver rush. He and a partner used wagons to shuttle visitors to the hot springs. Eventually, Alvin Grover bought the land and the hot springs. He even built a hotel in Markleeville.Eventually the thermal springs became a family business and the name "Grover Hot Springs" stuck. The Grover’s became prominent members of the community. The family helped in the break away from El Dorado County and started Alpine County. Alvin and his son, Charles Grover, each held the position of sheriff at one time. The Grover's maintained ownership of the hot springs up to the 1900's. The property changed hands a few times before California State Parks purchased it in 1958.

We didn't visit the actual hot springs, but the short hike along the Meadow and up the creek were worth the visit! Lots of Jeffrey Pines which in the warm afternoon sun smell of vanilla.

We had a blast on our first hike at Grover's! The grounds offer rugged trails that weren't too difficult for us first timers but you can up the challenge by taking on the boulder trail to see two beautiful waterfalls. Be sure to bring plenty of water, stay to the trails and know where you are going because the weather can be unpredictable.
