My husband and I stopped in on a whim after a long drive to get to Mariposa. We were pleasantly surprised. It’s got character, the staff was fun to chat with, the bourbon was good, and the food hit the spot. And, the prices were more than reasonable. It was a fun evening out after a long day.Dietary restrictions: There were lots of gluten free options available.

What a find, we are from the valley and have been looking for a place in Mariposa that can accommodate our family on our venture up to the park. Nestled on the back lower level off the Main Street and under the nice shops, this gem resides, This place has games for the kids, pool table , and other activities. The menu is balanced for the whole family, we started with baked potato skins and had the prime rib dip, prime rib sliders, pizza and cheese pasta. All passed the kids approval and the adults. The ceiling is covered in $1 bills so of course we had to decorate and sign one! Service and food were good enough to become our favorite new spot and to put into our rotation when return. Thank youKid-friendliness: Good options for variety.

An experience for sure! Got in late to Mariposa after shooting bridals in Yosemite and this was the only open establishment still serving food (thank goodness because we were HUNGRY). I ordered a pizza which was delicious! Food came out hot (just a little bit of a wait time, which means it was made to order; 10/10!) Fun atmosphere, even on a weeknight. Loved the tucked away feel, like you found a fun spot no one knows about haha.

Awesome bar and awesome food! Love the dive feel. Food was vegetarian and vegan friendly with a large selection to choose from. Drinks are great too, the bartender was skilled.

This place has a super small town feel + gold rush energy. I think the people that work here are very friendly and you can tell the customers are super loyal and come here multiple times a week, if not every day!The lovely woman at the front highlighted the specials to us, which sounded good, and let us know it’ll take a while for food and drinks, which was more than fine with us. I ordered a drink and the woman said she has no idea what that is but she’ll make me something fruity and that was fine with me! It was nothing to write home about but I enjoyed the interaction all the same!My friend had the chicken garlic wrap, which she loved! I ordered the potato skins and the Baja tacos. The potato skins are slices and I appreciate the size! The flavor was completely absent though but still enjoyable. The Baja tacos were probably great but before I could chew on my first bite, I had hair in my fingers and in my mouth. Unfortunately, I couldn’t tell you what it tasted like, but I will admit I didn’t mention it or send it back. I do believe they would’ve remade it tho; I was just in the mood for something packaged at that point. There was a gentleman at the bar that was staring incredibly hard and kept asking where we were staying, like the specific lodge name, which doesn’t reflect on the business itself. However, he had a conversation with the woman working about Mexicans and the woman mentioned how mean Mexicans are. I know there are people that dont mind that stuff but I do, particularly in a small town like this, so just mentioning it in case you’re of a certain background and are looking for a place to eat comfortably.

My wife and I stumbled upon this hidden gem on our last trip to yosemite. I cannot believe that it has taken us this long to find this place. I got the Barbecue tri tip sandwich and my wife got the bunny forage that was a portobello based vegetarian sandwich. The saloon is down 6th street and hidden below some of the other local businesses. It is not a very large place but is definitely memorable. The bartender was extremely friendly and gave us fantastic recommendations. There was a ton of local beers on tap and our food was absolutely delicious. The tri tip was smokey and the barbecue sauce was absolutely incredible with just enough heat and sweetness. I had a couple bites of my wife's Sandwich and it was also very, very good. We traveled to Yosemite every couple months and this is absolutely going to be on our stop on the way back. One of the locals highly recommended the French dip. And that is definitely going to be my next conquest when I come back. The atmosphere is definitely different with little nooks and crannies filled with hidden treasures but it just adds to the experience. I wish I would have gotten the bartenders name so I could give him the praise he deserves. He was extremely friendly and took the time to tell us the history of the saloon and even more about the food and drinks. Thanks for such a great way to relax after a great day in the park .....we will definitely be back.

This place is a hidden gem; hence the 3-stars for location. There could be some better signs on the Main Street & leading down bc it is such a cool spot! The drinks and food was great! My mom said they were the best shrimp tacos she’s ever had. My Barbie-Q sandwich was delicious. Great service and fun local spot if you’re looking for something different!

Went to celebrate a friend’s birthday, 6 of us played pool ordered food and drinks. Definitely not a welcoming place, but with few options we made the best of it. The staff was outside smoking most of the night, kinda got the feeling they didn’t want us there maybe? The night ends, we go home and think nothing of the hole in wall we visited. Almost 2 weeks go by the large blond smoking “manager/owner” I guess shows up at my friends job and accuses her or one of our party guests of stealing a bottle of liquor! Cursed out my friend and got her fired! When asked for camera footage she said there are none but someone told her we stole. We paid for everything we consumed and left a tip despite poor service and awful food! I’ve never heard of such a thing. The thing to know about visitors to a new town is that you are an ambassador for your community, is this how Mariposa wants to be represented? You depend on the income of travelers.

Visited this place over twice the weekend while on a trip to Yosemite and absolutely loved it. It has a very unique, and old school vibe - something that is being lost in the age of bar or cafe chains. The decor is absolutely unique, with dollar or currency bills stuck by visitors along with personalised messages. The music can be loud, considering that the place is small - but it wasn’t very uncomfortable at all.The food was very good. Being a vegetarian, I ordered the veg pizza and the fries. Both were very very tasty. Had the beer named The Den, which is a Cream Ale, and absolutely loved it.The owner and staff are very warm and friendly. Make sure to visit this place if you ever make a trip to Yosemite or happen to travel by Mariposa. You’d love it!To the owners,I absolutely love what you did with the bar stools, and the story behind it! Thank you, for having a place so unique and lovely. I cannot wait to visit the place again the next time I’m in Mariposa (and stick more dollar bills.. haha)! Cheers!

Alright. Good ole Hideout. I was here the beginning of this month for a cousins wedding in town. Great for locals..not so great for tourists. As an ex local myself, it is wonderful to see how much this place has remained the same over the years. Running into people from my past, and knowing half the patrons is quite a joy. But, those are also a downside.. Keeping it the same, stuffy little hideout can be a deterrent for people needing more space to acquire a drink. One bartender for so much traffic can be hard, on the bartender and the ones waiting on an order. The small town, relaxed "I know you" vibe is great..but can also be off putting for people from out of town. It can get smelly, hot, and exhausting in there, and being such a cramped area, that is enhanced ten-fold.I love this place, don't get me wrong..But much could be done to improve upon it. Speaking with a few tourists (who Mariposa relies and thrives on), they informed me they were scared to even enter the area due to the hostile vibes and feelings they received for being strangers. The Hideout is not very welcoming to new people on the outside, but when you get to know the people on the inside, that feeling will change. I love the staff and the people here, and would definitely tell my friends to visit. Also, the drinks are always strong, so that is certainly a plus.

Came here to have drinks with my mom and sister, just to check the place out. When they call it "Hideout" they're not kidding! It's tricky to find if you don't already know where it is; it's pretty much the cellar of an old saloon building. It's really cool and old but quite small, musty n' dusty. It has a lot of character so I appreciate it! The lady working the bar was nice, and the drinks were good and cheap. I definitely will be back for food bc their menu looks amazing!*UPDATE!* Just went there for dinner with my husband. He had the French Dip and I had Fish & Chips. The food was AWESOME!

Let me tell you. What a surprise. This place has all the makings of a dingy dive bar. Dollar bills all over the walls. Kind of hard to find. And the bathroom door is hard to open. But boy oh boy, I can't recommend this place enough. The food is AMAZING. They smoke all their meats out on the back patio. Use locally sourced produce. And don't own a fryer. No joke, for a "dive bar" this might be some of the best food I've had. We got the garlic chicken wrap and the BBQ pork sandwich. And they slapped.

What a gem!! 💎Love love this place! The adult beverages were made to perfection and were absolutely delicious. The wings were my all time favorite 🍗The staff were friendly and attentive. This place is quaint but has monumental historical value. The decor brings back nostalgia and you will find so many interesting things to see aside from the dollar bills with personalized messages.🚙 Plenty of parking across the street. Flatscreen TVs for the sports enthusiasts. The vibe is relaxing, authentic and friendly. Wish I lived closer but will definitely come back many many more times!! 🏼

Great find during our stay in Mariposa. Excellent food menu, were sad we’d already eaten when we came across this bar , menu had loads of options for vegans or vegetarians! Staff were friendly and beer selection was great! With many local ales on tap. Loved the atmosphere, and the bar is almost totally decorated with dollar bills. It wasn’t easy to find as Google maps seemed to get confused, but it’s behind the hotel. Lots of inside and a pretty outside seating/smoking area. Pretty amazing bar!

If you ever go to Mariposa which is on the way to the Western entrance to Yosemite park, you absolutely have to stop here. This is one of the overall greatest dive bars we've ever been to. The food is shockingly great. The drinks are even better. The atmosphere is over the top. Sometimes there's even live music at night. We have a property here in the town of Mariposa which by itself is worth The Visit. But this is the centerpiece. You must stop here. The people that work here are awesome. And you will never forget your experience if you come here. I guarantee a promise you. I did not add pictures because we have been here many timesBut you will take more than a dozen pictures If you show up here. when you get here, you'll see what I'm talking about.Parking: Little tough to find parking on a weekend, especially if you're in a big truck. But there are some places just a little work.Kid-friendliness: Not super kid friendly. But I would take your kids in there just to see what we're talking about.Wheelchair accessibility: Absolutely not wheelchair friendly. Please make a note of that.

Great spot! Friendly people on both sides of the counter. Has a pool table and amazing food. There are several vegan food options available. Good atmosphere and fun vibes. Loved the natural stone walls and the tavern-like feel. Outdoor patio is so cute! Good amount of outdoor and indoor seating available.

It's a dive bar, and yes five stars. Hear me out. The pub slider sandwich was delicious. The service was helpful and quick. It's the only restaurant open past 9pm.The entrance is around the corner on 6th avenue, down stairs, past the pool table, through the narrow doorway, order at the bar to the left. The music will be loud, take ear plugs or take your food to go. There are dollar bills stuck everywhere. In the end, the food is delicious, well prepared, well plated, and the people welcoming. The bar was hopping on a Sunday night with tourists. They have a wide selection of craft local beers, couple really good cider (Marion Berry) bottled beers, and cocktails.Maybe on a Friday or Saturday they have live music. It's a place you won't forget.

A very unique but hidden place in the heart of Mariposa. Only locals and the most curious can find the place and enjoy it until 2:00 am. Great people, good drinks, excellent service.

This place was quite the unexpected gem! We were thankful that they were open late since not much else is open in Mariposa after 10 pm. The beer selection was good but the food was stellar!! I got their version of a Hawaiian pizza. While the crust was a little too crisp for my taste, the pizza tasted delicious. Would definitely recommend going to the hideout for a late night bite and drinks!

Well we just checked into the hotel and decided to look for a place to have a beer and found this place known as The Hideout Saloon! :-) is a historic location dating back to the early 1900s and heart of the building is a wall that was built by the Chinese immigrants in this area. And the place is plastered with $1 bills dating back to the 1900s!
