Beka in the paint department is so helpful. She is extremely knowledgeable about paint but also knows that store like the back of her hand. Ace Hardware is now my go to store because I know I can go in and out in less than 5 minutes. Also, I’m not really a handywomen and I know I can get a lot of help there because of her. Ace Hardware is very lucky to have her.

For me the home mechanic only place in Monterey County for the best selection of auto nuts and bolts. Can be a bit pricey but for that hard to find nut bolt screw etc, this place has it and worth it.

Always the best customer service! Went in for some hardware for a project and didn't know what I needed(1/8" x 3/4" hardware and grommets and washers, etc)...explained what I was trying to accomplish and got everything I needed. I've never had to ask anyone for help at this or the Salinas location. Good luck getting this kind of attention at those warehouse suppliers!

Unlike a certain other well-known hardware store, the employees at Ace know their stuff and if someone doesn't know they ask another employee. Sometimes their prices are a tad higher but I know I'm getting the correct materials which saves me time and $ in the long run.

This branch really feel like it's a locally owned store. Staff are always helpful and great with suggestions. I love how the older folks can still work here, something i look forward to working at when I get to that age.

Helpful employees just about everything you need for home repairs and if they don't have it they will see if it can be ordered. Way better than those big box stores, small business owned, stop by you won't be disappointed

I came in after I noticed my water heater leaking and they set me up with not only the piece I needed to replace but with a recommendation for the perfect local plumber. My problem was fixed within an hour thanks to Ace Hardware employees who were willing to help me figure out what I needed (since I had no idea) and get me going on the right track with a local number.

Although Ace Hardware is a national chain, the one in Marina has more of a mom-and-pop feel to it. It's small enough where you don't feel lost in the wilderness like in the big box places, and it's very easy to find someone to help you locate an obscure item. Heck, most of the time I don't even have to ask for help. If you appear to be searching for something help is is usually offered without asking, in a polite non-pushy way. If you get an Ace rewards card you'll get discount coupons in the mail. My only caveat is that the door locks sold under the Ace brand name aren't constructed very well, and in my experience don't last. We've had problems with every one we've bought there. One lock failed completely and locked my son into one of our bathrooms. It froze up and refused to open. I had to destroy it with a sledgehammer to get him out. I'm dinging my rating one star because of that, but it's not really the Marina store's fault that Ace Brand door locks aren't very good.

I shop here OFTEN (> 5 x each week) and find that the staff is courteous and eager to assist.The new or younger staff always seem to be under some sort of training by the experienced staff, which I consider a PLUS.There is always enough staff on hand, even near closing, to assist you with your purchase as soon as you enter the front door .I can't recall any time in the last 3 years shopping there I did not receive a welcome AND a request to assist me within the first minute or two.Although they do not carry the inventory of the large stores, which I also shop... I find the Marina California ACE Hardware Store is an excellent example of superior customer service.BTW, the fastener selection which is my most common purchase is very good for the size of the store.

Originally, I purchased a large two-gallon crock from Ace Hardware online, and it was delivered to this store for pick up. When I got to the store, the folks there were a bit too talkative for my liking. By that, I mean, they got very inquisitive about things that have nothing to do with my business there (as if they were pretending to have known me for years). Maybe that is the nature of Ace Hardware, but I'm uncomfortable talking to people I don't know - especially about my career, how long I've lived here, etc. Once I got the crock, I took it home in the well-packaged box. When I opened it up, it was cracked all the way through. When I went back to the store to return it, no one seemed to know what to do or how to return an item that was purchased through their online store. It took me almost two full weeks to get my refund. It did go through, but it took two trips to the store (and one of the employees asked if I could come back another day to return it).

A great, neighborhood hardware store. It doesn't have everything, but with home depot a hop away it doesn't. What it does have is a great selection of the basics and a loyal staff - great reasons to avoid the depot if you can.

I really want to shop local and support Marina businesses - but no. I'll go to Ace in PG or Prims before I come back here. I rented a steam cleaner and the salesperson didn't have any clean machines available s/he asked if I wanted to take one anyhow and they would ensure it would be noted that it was rented out in the current condition and no additional fees would apply. So, when I returned the cleaner the next day, - even cleaner than when I rented it-the original salesperson was not there. A salesperson and manager were there, the salesperson checked me in and commented it was not clean. I explained the situation and the manager without wincing did not care and said, it is dirty, charge him $20. - in addition to the fee I had already paid. Seriously. I balked and he didn't care and insisted I pay $20 extra. So, in an era where everything is available everywhere, customer service matters, and they offered terrible, unprofessional customer service.

The reps there are always helpful. I usually find what I want, but it takes a minute to locate what you want, then make sure it's not outdated, and it works the way it should, especially things that should stick.
