It's one of my favorite places to visit every time I go on a big bear trip. I first found this place in 2015 and have been coming ever since. Staff is always friendly, and they take their time with their tours. Tania, the owner of the Sanctuary, is a beautiful, kind-hearted soul. I always enjoy talking to her. Since I've been there, there have been a few wolves that have passed. Tania and the staff take great care of them. It's a $25 donation per person for the tour. They also have a private tour with Tania, pricing on the website. It's definitely worth it, a memorable experience, and get to take pictures with wolves. How cool is that. It is a must visit. Saves the Wolves and go visit.

We visited on Sunday 3/3/24. We had a wonderful time: two really, REALLY interesting guides and about seven wolves. A couple of the wolves were 95+% pure and the rest were 100%. The animals were well-behaved and even affectionate. We learned a lot and will likely return to the fairly remote location again.

If you want to have a full one to one experience with a wolf, this is the place. You are allowed to interact with the wolves their as well as hear their storiesThe big bear lake is also like 20 miles from there.Let me make this clear it is not a zoo. This is a non profit organisation. They do not keep the wolves here for our pleasure or for money. These wolves wouldn’t be able to survive in the wild. So they rescue them and take care of them. And if you like you can even volunteer there. You can also buy a t-shirt or a souvenir from there.

Tonya and all her people are so awesome. We had an amazing time. Wasn't expecting for them to let us in because we came with a small child and we didn't have an appointment. But Tonya came out and told them to let us in. Holan is so pretty and so sweet. We got to pet some of the wolves and learn their story about how they came to the sanctuary. They're doing great things and helping the wolves. The gift shop has really cute stuff. It was a great experience and I highly recommend visiting.

If you love nature and you adore wolves as much as I do, this place is definitely a once in a lifetime experience. Getting to see and pet the wolves was surreal. Do keep in mind that wearing hats or various jewlery may not be the best idea. Wolves will steal them!

While I wish I were affluent and could help these fine folks and wolves move closer to Big Bear area, I must say my experience at Wolf Mountain was a most humbling and awe-inspiring one.Tonya is an amazing Woman and her love and knowledge of Wolves speaks volumes as our Group was given a hands on, totally interactive "tour" up close and personal Encounter with several gorgeous Wolves. We will definitely bring various visitors back when back in town. Worth every penny and wish many would donate more. These animals are truly exquisite.

100% recommend and can't wait to come back! Tonya and her team are amazing with the wolves and you can tell they really care for them and want what's best! We got to meet 3 of them and have the chance to pet them! When one of the wolves got anxious, they understood that she was uncomfortable and put her back in her home. They were so informative and kind! Love them and love what they are able to do!

PHOTOGRAPHERS BEWARE: there is a big sign outside that says "$25 per person... Bring your camera!" But you will be given a hard time once you start shooting. Tonya said we could come inside once we were signed in and walked away to speak to a bigger group of people. My group and I went inside and I started taking pictures of the wolves. Tonya comes back and very rudely asks if me if I know what wolves I can take pictures of. I stand there speechless and confused because the sign outside literally says bring your camera and there are no signs on the kennels with restrictions about what wolves cannot be photographed. When I fail to respond right away she says "Excuse me I'm talking to you! Do you know what wolves you can and can't take pictures of?" So I say "No." And she proceeds to tell everyone two wolves are in a legal battle and cannot be photographed and they are the only wolves you cannot take pictures of. She also lectures me on asking first, as if they don't have a giant sign outside saying to bring in cameras. Plenty of people were taking out their phones for pictures, but I believe I got singled out for having an actual camera. I just think the situation was very unprofessional on her part and could have been handled better. How was I supposed to know? You can either post signs of photo restrictions or tell the entire tour group before going inside instead of inviting them inside and expecting them to know everything when no one took the time to explain any restrictions on photos to us before going in. All they told us was what to remove from our pockets. I won't be the last person to make this mistake until then. I enjoyed the tour otherwise, but this almost ruined it for me. It was my birthday and this was the way I was treated.UPDATE: since it appears this facility has updated their initial response to me, I will do the same to set the record straight.First of all, you admit you you made an assumption because I had "a rather nice and professional camera" which should be seen by everyone as the first red flag. I was a 19 year old girl at the time on a double-date with my friend and her boyfriend. Not a professional photographer at all. So why would I volunteer information that doesn't apply to me? I received it as a gift for my BIRTHDAY and was excited to bring it to the sanctuary where I was rudely yelled at in front of a crowd and yelled at a second time when I failed to answer the question because I was stunned into silence by such an abrupt, aggressive behavior. I was a KID. Shame on you! There's nothing wrong with pulling someone aside and explaining your policies politely, but that is NOT what happened. You publicly humiliated a teenage girl in front of other customers on the tour and even stated yourself that "we don't really want to put a sign up." If that's the case, then take some responsibility and act professional. Don't try to incriminate someone on a Google review using blatant assumptions just to cover your tracks and save face.I did not argue with Tonya at all. My friends and I were afraid of being kicked out and having our day ruined even further so we remained silent to finish our experience with the wolves instead of driving 45minutes for nothing.I do see now that your website has been updated as you quoted in your edited reply. I believe this was highly needed and probably only happened due to my Google review. Nevertheless, at least any other hobbiest photographers will have some type of warning.I only wish I could update this review with the screenshots I took in case you edit your response again, but I digress.Do better.
