Stopped by to get takeout because me and my boyfriend wanted to have lunch at the river. My order was perfectly fine but his was made incorrectly(he’s picky and has a super simple order so it just kinda ruined the mood) But I get these things happen, I work in a restaurant too. Not a big deal. I called River Shack just to see if I could get a refund back for his sandwich. Before I could even finish my sentence the girl on the phone cut me off and said she’d give the phone to someone else. I talked to the guy who took my order and then he kinda just left me hanging and started talking to other people in the backround. So then the owner picks up the phone with the harshest tone and says “um hello this is the owner, I just walked in the door.” I told him I was trying to see if I could get a refund because the sandwich was incorrect and he goes “okay well these things happen we’re not perfect” and he just sounded so angry at ME lol I was so shocked and I told him it wasn’t at all a big deal and I wasn’t mad, he goes “oh I know it’s not a big deal,” in the rudest tone. He asked instead of a refund if I wanted to come in and get it remade, I said I could do that. He goes “you CAN do that or you WANT to do that??” To be honest what I wanted to do was hang up and go cry because it felt like I was a kid again and my dad was yelling at me lol. Believe me I understand dealing with customer service and how frustrating it can be at times, but for an owner to speak to me like that when I was nothing but calm and polite, it was pretty crazy to me.

Favorite place in a 200-mile radius to get a sandwich, always stop by for fiesta Friday to pick up a couple of burritos. The selection of beers is outstanding, and the service is top tier and quick. The cambron is my go-to every time I go.Parking: 40+ spaces shared between a small handful of businesses.Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs, easy entry.

Nice vibe! Friendly & helpful service. Stop by, take a break and cool down. Have a cold beer or lemonade while they whip up your sandwich. The walls have plenty of interesting rafting nostalgics to view while you chill out in the AC and enjoy your cold drink and sandwich! Or if it's a cooler day they have an outside patio area you can eat or sit at while they prepare your order.

Great little local pub. The owners are nice. The husband, Denis, is quiet the character. The locals are friendly. He even sells Smithwics beer and flys flags one of which is the Irish one.

Really excellent selection of beers in cans, bottles, and on tap. Plenty of AC indoors and a cozy beer garden out back. Get killer sandwiches here or grab em for your day on the River. No shortage of funky river rat/local bar mingling at this place.

River Rascals been coming to Rivershack for years! Never a dull moment the sandwiches are AMAZING! The soft warm bread and environment as well as the great beers. The Great white is a beer I always get. Everyone is always happy here. A must after a great river trip or any time 👍😁

I came to Placerville for a weekend getaway. Little did I know the treasure I would happen across that is River Shack Deli & Pub. When you walk through the door, you’re family. I felt extremely welcomed here and comfortable to banter with the bartender. I came to find the bartender was also one of the owners of the establishment. The food was outstanding and the beer options incomparable! But, what I loved about this place doesn’t end there. If you are a 49ers fan, add this place to your list of stops! I was in awe and in love when the Niners memorabilia plastered across the walls from a signed Montana jersey to old newspapers and flags from the last game at Candlestick Park. I adore this place so much, I’ve invited my Dad to travel here again so we can watch the first Niners game of the season while we enjoy a cold beer with some amazing sandwiches. Thank you Dennis and team for the great experience!

Sandwiches are straight fire & beer/drink selection is great! The sandwiches are perfectly layered with all ingredients so that every bite is exactly what you want. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area after a hike, river trip, or any other reason.

This is my favorite sandwich spot. I drive from Folsom just for a sandwich because it’s that good. Fresh veggies, delicious bread, sunflower seeds on the vegetarian sandwich. The patio is an oasis with beautiful plants. I absolutely love this place.

ordered a hot pastrami. received a cold sandwhich. asked the guy at the counter why it wasn’t hot he said because i didn’t order “the marty”. told him i ordered a hot pastrami he said “i didn’t take your order”. spent $15 on a cold sandwhich with 2 slices of meat. needless to say i won’t come back to this sorry little place

Nice place for beer, but save your money on lunch. The sandwich I had only had two small slices of pastrami. Go across the street if you want to eat something filling.I asked the server is this correct to have this little meat on a sandwich?Very dismissive….

As expected, great atmosphere. They have a surprising variety of food, which all looks and smells amazing. Having a hot pastrami, and had to get a serving of the potato and macaroni salad that is made in house and looks perfect. Staff is great! No hassle no hurry.My take on the food:The potato salad is bright, Has a small batch feel, a balanced ingredient list that unfortunately is missing something... hard boiled eggs, sliced, and would be an absolute crush of mine if it had some sliced black olives as well... ID GIVE IT A 4.5 OF 5.The mac salad dont need nothing. Its a 5 all day long. Interesting. Light. Has a different fit and feel along an almost citrus finish. Far more bright than a typical traditional Mac salad. Those olives would've put that tater salad over the top. The coarse seasonings were spot on. Lovely.The Sandwich boasts a good serving of robust pastrami. Wouldve liked it deli style with the meat quality where it was. (Deli style being on a thick marbled rye, other than that its whats up. You'll enjoy it.

Small (hah!) salad and 1/2 sandwich was great value for the amount of food I got, and it was all good! Chicken salad on Dutch crunch was best I've had in a while, and the small (hah!) Gold Rush salad with big chunks of avocado was a meal on its own. Well done River Shack!

Fast and friendly service and delicious sandwiches served on perfectly just-toasted sourdough rolls. Menu has everything you want in a sandwich shop, from melts and hot BBQ beef, to fresh loaded subs, clubs and veggie options. The pub atmosphere gives a glimpse of local flavor for those of us passing through. A tasty reward after a long morning of hiking!

Great sandwiches! Bread seemed super fresh and the potato and pasta salads were yummy, too. But they close the kitchen earlier than the pub so make sure you get there early enough to order.

Great place for a quick bite. Their loaded creamy potato soup tasted very delicious! Outdoor patio/garden is inviting and cozy. Perfect place to stop by after hiking all day in the area.

Stopped in for a quick bite and something to wash it down. Talked to the owner and had a good time. Deli was on point and the beer was nice and cold. definitely will be stopping again when I pass by there again.

Definitely a local feel. Relaxed. Dive bar/deli/convenience store vibe. More windows than most dive bars. Had a tasty wheat beer from the bay area and the "kid" recommend a " trouble maker" with BBQ sandwich. Dog and family friendly. Good choice while in the area!

Went there for lunch today! Great job River Shack!! Sour dough bread was SO GOOD!I had the "Artie" Turkey Artichokes swiss melted and more. Slightly warm and so good!!

Theres always good vibes in here whenever we have come. They have some old school video games, a pinball machine, and a foosball table that the kids and I always enjoy. The decorations in the place are abundant and diverse and I never get tired of looking around. They were very cool about my rascally kids too. I've never had a bad sandwich here and I've been probably 10 times.
