Don't waste your time buying fish here. They don't care. You'll have dead fish. I got reeled in by the price and spent about $350 dollars here. 80% of my fish purchase have died with in 2wks... I'm not new to the aquarium world, so I know what's abnormal. When I did my last purchase as my fish was still inside the bag, not even in the tank yet, my daughter and I noticed it had lic on it. Called the store, and he told me to just pick them off or bring it back he'd give me another one. Well, being the other fish like him had holes in the fin. I didn't want that one, so we decided to take the lic off ourselves. Days later, I guess because I didn't open the tail fins, I found more lice on him. A total of 7 lice. 4 fish died within a couple of days of purchase. I started seeing a white coat appear on them, so I kept watch. Other fish I noticed the win on their head was looking damaged a little. Within 2 days later, slowly but surely, all the fish of my purchase started showing white spots on them (ich). I went to the store of the medication to medicate them, but fish are still dying. I've had a fancy goldfish tank before, and I was able to keep my fish alive to live. I've raised them from babies to adults, and I've never seen this before. When I called to tell him about this, he made it seem like it's something I'm doing. Says now that the fish are dead, he can't do anything, but they shouldn't have died that fast and got that sick. Now all (a total of 17) of my fish are deadSo I won't be spending any more money at this location.

Went in for the first time last night, I have a saltwater tank and this store is mainly freshwater and reptiles, but I’m glad I stopped by! I grabbed some maintenance supplies (they give USC students a discount), Aaron and his crew were super friendly and he gave us some good recommendations for stuff to check out around the campus! Definitely stop by to check out some of the monster fish they have, and the reptiles looked really nice…makes me want to start a lizard tank LOL

I went in recently because they have new owners I already knew they had a reputation for sick fish, but because it was under new ownership I bought two fish to add to my tank along with a small sucker fish , 7 of my fish have died and the few that’s left are shaking really bad. I’m sure they will be dead soon, I did an ick treatment but that did not work I’ve had my fish for over a year now I have to start over with my tank if you want your fish to live don’t buy any fish from this place I told a friend of mine and she said they also sold her a sick snake that also died a few days after she bought it

The business I believe is under new management and have actually moved locations right around the corner 1002 43rd street Los Angeles. This black owned pet stores Customer service was excellent everything is fairly prices a variety of animals. Definitely recommend.

They have all kinds of fish and reptiles there. They have tanks decor and everything. This is the best pet store I went to. I’m for sure gonna go back there and buy more stuff for my fishes and turtles. There service is really good.

They started charging taxes now. B4 they would just sell u the 10 for $1 fish without tax now suddenly they charge u 36cents and they over charge the food for reptiles. For example the dry shrimp in a little container you would use for ketchup was 3.99 very disappointed with this shop

Super nice and friendly. You can find fishes, crickets, hamsters, guinea pigs and birds. They also have snakes, tarantulas and other exotic pets. You can find anything for your fish tank and/cage. Great place. Small but you can literally find everything for your pet. Prices are fair.

Bought a hamster from here a few weeks ago. Had no idea the hamster was pregnant, was not told anything about it. I asked if the shop would be willing to take the baby hamsters once they were ready to be separated and they said yes. I have taken care of the mom and the babies for the past few weeks now and was going to bring in the babies today but now they told me they cannot and did not offer any help with it either. I know mistakes happen, but this situation was handled poorly.In response to the reply below, I suggest that the shop inspect the hamsters before selling them and properly inform the customer. This would solve your "no space" situation for the future because no one would be accidentally buying pregnant hamsters.

I have been going to this pet store for fish since I was a little child I am now 46 years old I've never really went to any other pet shop but this one or fish after recently visiting some other pet shops in the city I have come to find out Tongs prices are much higher and neighboring pet shops that tanks aren't as clean and the selection of unique fish and scarce some of their tanks look cloudy and dirty just to name a few. I will still stop in to tongs from time to time to see if their selection has gotten better and if their prices have gotten better especially for the African cichlids. What I want good African cichlids I go to Tokyo aquarium on Adams. Great prices great African cichlid collection.

I've been going here for years. They still have a few Monster fish here. Really large fish. Other than that, they are ok as far as selection is concerned. I have never gotten any sick fish here. Variety is sort of seasonal.

This place is my favorite LFS aka Local Fish Store. The folks are nice, the fish are fun to look at, and they pretty much have everything you need, especially if you’re a local nerm. And parking is easy, just the way I like it.
