Updating my three year review from 5 stars to 1 star. These vets don't care anymore! I've been taking my animals to this location for years. At minimum 15 years. Lately, they're hiring people that have absolutely no compassion for animals it seems. The Doctor called my dog a train wreck because he's special needs. She prescribed medication to him for an animal 50 lbs more than his weight, and when asked about it, shrugged it off and said it's fine. It wasn't until the nurse noticed and said he absolutely could not have that dosage. Are you trying to harm my animals??Next, I brought my other dog in for his vaccinations. He's gone to the same place for FOUR years. LBAH was my go to vet always. But they decided to give my dog all three vaccination shots without warning me that he's never done that before, or that he might have a reaction. Less than hour later, my dog was covered in hives. We called and were told to bring him back immediately, so we did. They never mentioned the amounts they were going to charge AGAIN because he had to have it reversed. Communication is lacking here and they just want their money. After 5 hours for an appointment, I will NEVER take my pets back there again.

I took my Frenchie because he was dragging his back legs. The doctor told me that he needed MRI x-rays and numerous other things. He told me that his chances of getting better were less than 5%. He said he would need a surgery that would cost upwards of 20000. I decided to just take the medication they prescribed to him. My Family was devistated.... I was left with the horrible decision to possibly put him down.... šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø I decided to give him the medicine for a couple weeks. He has almost fully recovered the use of his legs. So my advice is to not believe everything Vets say. It seems to me that their only motivation is money. My Frenchie is a Family member. That angered me soooo much!!!! This is the second Vet that has said that to me. Each time he has recovered with meds and rest. Shame on all those vets!!! You are a disgrace!!!

10/10 They took great care of our cat, Muffin. She was limping on Saturday evening, we called Sunday and they got us right in. We dropped her off and picked her up a few hours later. The facility is bright, clean and welcoming. The vet staff was friendly and knowledgeable.

I called Long Beach Animal Hospital on a Sunday afternoon and the staff there got our pug in two hours later. It was such a relief. All of the staff there were excellent, from start to finish. The vet was thorough and super friendly. I really felt everyone there was genuine and not trying to make a quick buck (like some other vets in the neighborhood). The cost of treatment seemed super reasonable too!I’m so happy we found this place and we will be making this our new regular vet. Hands down the best vet experience we’ve had in a very long time.

I took my Ratty here yesterday morning and of course it was an emotional day for me I knew I had to put my ratty to rest and these people are so compassionate towards me and my baby it was quick and they left me in a room while my baby stopped breathing in my arms I cried so loud and no body bothered me until I was ready to go

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I came here recently to have my hamster checked out. I already knew that she didn’t have much time left. The vet came in, groped my hamster for a couple of seconds, said some very vague and unhelpful things. It all boiled down to her admitting that there isn’t much that they can do due to her old age and condition, and that she’s going to die very soon. Yeah, thanks for letting me know. Very helpful. I asked them about euthanasia costs, and it costs $175 for putting down a small animal! And what really shocked me was they didn’t have any option for payment plans for it, and they even charged me $70 for their ā€˜exam’ and ā€˜consultation’, which was basically them telling me what I already knew—that she was going to cross the rainbow bridge very soon; and there was no exam. In the receipt it shows a reminder for a 6 month & annual exam, which is hilarious because my hamster will be dead by then. That really broke me. And I know their receipt is automated, but at least take the time to remove it. Please. All they care about is getting their money, which is just sad.NEVER AGAIN.

Super thankful to LB Animal Hospital for driving over to pickup a sick stray cat (on a weekend no less). I could not get a call back from ANY local feral cat/rescue orgs. I am so grateful that this place exists!!!Thank you for answering the phone, demonstrating genuine empathy and concern, sending LB animal control to transport sick kitty to your hospital to help this sweet little baby! Now I know who to call in an emergency. Highly responsive, professional and genuinely cares! Thank you so very much for all you do!!!

DON’T TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!! All they care about is money. They give incomplete diagnosis. The dr. William Rideway was rude and insensitive. My beardie was doing good until this dr gave him a second dosage without another examination. I took my beardie to another vet that told me he was really sick. Yet dr Rideway said he was fine. My beardie died March 10, 2024.

This is my go to exotics vet. Although some of vets there may handle them old school— holding them by the scruff(which I’m not all that fond of), I can at least rest easy on taking my hamsters here for any reason, since they specialize in exotics, and can accurately give you the right meds your exotic pet needs~

Staff is great, but the new vets they have there don’t seem like they know like they are doing. I came for an URI and came out paying 258. My husband’s vet for the same diagnosis was only 78. They are so expensive . 90 bucks just to see a vet? And one that looks like they just came out of vet school. I used to like it here but I think I’ll go somewhere else. Thank you but no thank you.

I brought a pigeon in that I had found in an unusual location that seemed to have some difficulty flying to get assessed for possible release. They were able to look at the bird quickly and said he needed some supportive care as he was a little thin. So glad they were able to do this since I'm not familiar with birds at all and wouldn't have known he was underweight.

Andrew made the appointment that sent me to this wonderful place! I was so appreciative of Jackie's patience while she taught me how to give my furbaby his insulin! Doctor Ridgeway was someone who I definitely vibed with and he was great with my baby! Make sure to bring your fur baby here, you won't be disappointed!11/7/23: Just got a phone call from the office, calling to check on my baby!

This was my first time dealing with a vet. Haven't had the pleasure of having many pets in my adult life to be honest. But here I am with a rabbit peeing deep red! LBAH was referred to me by a pet advocate who works at another vet (a lot further away). I had the best experience here with the kind and knowledgeable staff, from the clerks, nurses, techs and doctor. Even other patients!I was honestly expecting to pay a lot more than what I ended up paying, too. They broke down what cost what and it all made sense.I'm going back in about 5 weeks to see how my rabbit heals up with her inflamed bladder (due to calcium build up). It's worth the drive for me to have Kitty (YES MY RABBIT'S NAME IS KITTY) treated by LBAH. My best friend lives in LB and has a pup named Obi and I let her know how great of a vet LBAH is. Already spreading the word!Picture: my rabbit Kitty while in the patient room.

I heard my guinea pig making hooting noises and just to make sure everything was ok I made an appointment with Dr. Ridgeway which I had read some great reviews on him.Check up was $70 but it was worth it we drove 45 minutes to see him. Turns out my piggy did have a URI and I was given antibiotics.Compared to other vets I have gone to this is the only one that did not try to charge me for random things and Dr. Ridgeway was very well informed about guinea pig care. He did not try to rush us and asked if we had any other questions. He knew how to hold and handle a guinea pig. Staff was very nice and we went in and out did not take to long. Love the fact that I was able to make an appointment last minute.Update:Just took my two babies we just adopted to make sure everything was great. We saw Dr.Woods She was amazing and knowledgable of guinea pigs. I just love their service!!

I brought my first bunny here earlier this year. He had been sick a while and I fear it was already too late but they were the sweetest ever. They gave us the best care and when things got worse they euthanized him for free.Yesterday my new bunny got sick and I brought him in. They remembered us and we're so kind. They give the best care. Our little Charlie is doing fine 12 hours later.

My son was in the waiting room when his pet hamster died in his lap . The receptionist rushed him in and told him $200 to release pet or $150 to cremation. They did not provide any services but billed us anyway. I would not recommend this place. I would recommend the hospital in the traffic circle.

We have been bringing our kitties here for many years. Everyone here is great in dealing with our kids, even when they get a little ornery. One was recently diagnosed with a very rare, incurable cancer, and although he was in remission, he had a bad reaction to chemo. We took him to LBAH as an emergency over the weekend. They spoke to his oncologist and agreed that the best course of action was for us to transfer him to the 24-hour hospital in Irvine where his oncologist practices. He is now just about back to normal! It's not all about the money with them; it's what's best for the pet.

Amazing and friendly staff!! So glad I brought my rabbit here especially with how hard it is to find a vet that specializes in rabbit medicine. I brought in my rabbit coco that’s 5 years old that had diarrhea and did not want to eat and the vet was very thorough with explaining what was wrong with him, doing a full body assessment and recommending a healthier diet. He is doing much better with the medicine given by the Vet and I am extremely happy to see him not in pain anymore and back to his normal self. I knew he would be in great hands once I saw other bunny parents in the waiting room who shared with me that they have been bringing their rabbit there for years. Prices are reasonable and fair. I can definitely say after the first visit coco will be coming back for check ups and will recommend this place to any other pet owners. Thank you LBAH!!

Took my pet rat in for a respiratory infection. The staff is very nice. The vet is very caring and took the time to figure out what's wrong with my Nova. They even have an office cat named Groot lol. He is the cutest.

These kind, hard working people help save pigeons. From my desperate phone call in to the in-facility responses to those around me = kindness, wisdom and care.( PARKING - Come early to find a space. There are side streets that don't charge but a lot of cars are already parked. )( They also have air conditioning !!! Bring a mask as last I went beginning of AUG 2022 it was required.. or call to check if near this review date. )I found a King Pigeon without any tail feathers (ie most likely pulled out by a hawk chase) and no leg band... NO ONE in the animal care world would help me because it was a domestic pigeon. No one!!!! And at the time, a Saturday. Even dove/king pigeon releasing locations refused; it wasn't worth their time. But - some mentioned this vet location. I called & they confirmed; they WILL take the pigeon to a rehab facility on their own time and dime.... IF I catch it.!!!!!So I Googled "How to catch a hurt pigeon" .... and God-willing with a lot of crazy running around and careful blanket throwing, it worked!!!!! Then I drove in rush hour from Burbank to Long Beach ..... and left the little white dude in their caring hands. What a beautiful place.Grateful.

I am a wildlife rehabilitator and am at some sort of exotic or speciality veterinarian weekly. I am EXTREMELY opinionated and particular when it comes to proper care of animals which usually most vets are subpar in my experience. Yesterday was my first time at this hospital with a paralyzed juvenile opossum. It was the third vet I had taken him to and the difference compared to the rest was day and night. The other vets I went to refused to give him a chance or offer any medical care where as Dr. Seto really took her time and cared to help my little buddy. They were so gentle and thorough; I really felt safe in knowing he was in good hands. The prices were also extremely fair and I got in immediately as opposed to waiting for hours at other vets. I have never been more pleased with a veterinarian and the entire staff was wonderful as well. They also have a wildlife program and take in all injured wildlife. You can truly see here how much everyone genuinely loves animals and I HIGHLY recommend this place. It was definitely worth my two hour commute and I will return there with ALL of my animals from now on. Thank you to the entire staff for going above and beyond the rest.
