They need to hire more staff. Always are lines and some of the cashiers are terribly rude. I avoid shopping there....Update to review: since a Safeway rep responded as if we're on a first name basis here, and since they requested I spend my time going on their website to alert them of store management failure that most customers know about, and I'd hope they do, o reduced my review to one star. It's not just local management; evidently, it's company policy to be rude.

The pharmacy has messed up so many of my prescriptions I don't know where to start. The staff blame it on temporary pharmacists but I feel like the automated system is not effective. Changes definitely need to be made.

Don't shop there and do my grocery shopping elsewhere. I have lived in Lake County for over 30 years, and stepped into that store only three times the whole time I've been here. Just yesterday, I had to wait for a prescription at CVS (it was 5:30 p.m.) and had to get one item, so I walked over to Safeway. It was so overcrowded in there that you can barely move, the aisles are so skinny that you are constantly trying to move around people who rudely block you it is ridiculous. Lines for checkout are so long they block the aisles, the line for pharmacy was so long that it went all the way down the aisle wrapping around blocking more people. The parking lot, an adventure itself, were cars circling over and over and over to find a spot, some empty spots couldn't be used because inconsiderate drivers parked over the lines, all of them suv's. One item, even for self checkout, took me over a half hour. By the time I finally got out of there (it was 6:15) the CVS pharmacy closed at 6 and now I have to go back again to get it. Will never go to Lakeport Safeway again.

I don’t t get mad very often but tonight I did. I went in for my Covid shot and got that with no problem. The pharmacist there is awesome! After that I went out to get what I needed and the meat counter was closed. Went up to check out, I asked why is the meat counter closed? The lady said I’ll call Lacy to help you, even the produce guy called for Lacy. I watched several people go by looking at the closed meat counter. Still, no Lacy. 15 or 20 minutes later and freezing from waiting I gave up. Not one person came by to acknowledge to me that Lacy Was not coming to help. I wound up calling after I left. Heather said to come back and just say I talked to her and I would get my lobster tails at the sell price. She was very apologetic. I was fuming but accepted that and I will go back in a couple weeks. I just want to say to Safeway,“They can do better than that”

Good variety, deli, bakery, full meat and fish dept. Good staff, great meat dept staff. Wrap and season to order. FYI watch receipts app can be iffy and usually find something not ad $ but they will fix on request. Just check before leaving store. Appreciate having this in rural CO of 70000 population

I love how clean safeway always is. Also their fruits bowls are some of the best in the area. They do have a variety of articles. I took one star off as I think their price is higher and I couldn't find a local session encouraging local products.

Horrible customer service at the self checkouts. Store is bad about hanging sales tags on produce, that frequently do not come up at register. Also, when they do a buy one get one for a discount, the original price is always higher than before, so they hope that you won’t notice, and you end up paying even more than you would have before the supposed sale. Super scammy. When we asked the hateful associate at the checkouts to honor the advertised sale that didn’t come up, she snapped at us that we didn’t scan the digital coupon correctly (we scanned it), or it would have came up. Apparently she has more important things to do than her actual job. I will happily drive to Raley’s in Ukiah instead.

I am very glad that we have a Safeway up here at the lake. It has a pharmacy, deli, bakery meat department pretty much has everything you need, associates are outstanding and fun and social. Store is always stocked up and looks good and is clean for a compact store that serves a large community in a rural area.

Has become xrap over the years. Now they have 1 checker most of time. Prices are outrageous at this location sales are always better elsewhere. And no help. Have 7 checkstands wit 1 maybe 2 open. No discount for doing your employees job at self checkout. Will not use this cause I'm not getting paid to do what someone else should be helping with.Always higher than any other safeway I go to. Sales are never as good. Just travel anywhere. My favorite fuji apples 1 dollar a lb higher here in 2015. Soda buy 2 get 2 elsewhere buy 2 get 1 free here. Seems like cause we are from a poverty area they can screw us. Open your eyes people.

No longer the Best place in Lake County to shop for groceries! Long lines have become ever more common since they were bought by Cerberus Capital Management in 2014. Saturday afternoon 3:17 PM to 3:45 PM was how long I was in line for check-out. Store was swamped and had only two open check stands. I was very tempted to leave my full cart there and just walk out of the store placing a note in the cart as to why.

I was very upset when I left safeway tonight. I went in for my daughter to some lactose free milk with her wic card. I usually have no problems. But tonight there must have been a computer error. And the.card didnt.go through. It said she had 2 1/2 gallons left and grabbed what we always buy. The cashier was so rude when I told her and showed her that it should have went through. Instead of trying to help me she asked "what would you like to do stral it or me pay for it.." never been so embarrassed in my life. This is milk for my grandbabies. Never going through her line again! I don't really mind going to safeway but I do mind rude cashiers. One employee told she was sorry cuz the cashier doesn't like white people. Wth Yvonne I will never go through your line!!!

Safeway is always full of people. I have found that if you go very early in the morning or around 8 pm there are fewer people. I've always received good friendly service. The store has always been clean.

The store is very clean with reasonable prices. The staff are friendly and quick to assist when needed. The selection of products is always appreciated and the deli is always reliable.With the addition of multiple new self checkout machines, the long lines have pretty much ceased. The launch of the Safeway app for extra savings should be noted too.

Mixed Feelings!! The treatment you get really depends on who is working. Had a great experience with a few of the people.Last time I went the clerk yelled (basically screamed) at me to take few steps back, even though there were two people standing right next to the pharmacy line talking about local gossip. So once I stepped back they were in front of me (still talking) which totally contradicts me stepping back. That whole thing didn't bug me that much... I brushed it off until she proceeded to roll her eyes & complain about customers to the customer that was at the counter. The clerks name was Tennille.

Ok, I’m done with buying meat from Safeway in Lakeport, Ca. Last year’s Prime Rib, which cost a pretty penny, was not good. Even my son mentioned the gristle flowing the roast. We did our best to eat what we could. We didn’t want to spoil the mood or our meal. We tried be grateful. I again just purchased a pot roast. I do love pot roast. I’ve been cooking them for over 40 years now. I bought one at Safeway last Monday, on sale. It was horrible. So much gristle through out the roast. Not much to eat after you cut away all that nonsense. Disappointed. Disappointed in Safeway. You used to sell quality meats. Not any more.Signed,Disappointed

Pretty average Safeway. Great sales if you are apart of the free membership, and even greater sales if you do the online "Just for you" app. I love that there is a Starbucks in the store, so convenient. Great meat department. Most of the Employees are very friendly and helpful.Cons: The vegetables section.... is hit or miss. Several times a month you can find rotting/molding fruits or veggies. The bathrooms are usually pretty... not hygienic. Always check your expiration dates on items you buy from the shelf. I cant count how many times I've pulled an item and it was expired, tell an employee, come back several weeks later... to find the same expired product.

So my wife and I purchased a 2nd home in Lakeport about 3 years ago. The only real grocery store is Safeway.Not only is it expensive compared to living SF or Lincoln but the customer service is absolutely terrible! There are only 2-3 employees that are actually helpful the managers are rude and non responsive to customers issues.Also when you order food to pick it up they give you the worst vegetables and fruit every time! The orders are always wrong or missing items. This is the worst run Safeway I've ever been too.We will be calling corporate to let them know.

10/20/2022 This pharmacy has terrible customer service, my chemo medication is still not ready and I have been waiting 2 weeks. I have been given excuse after excuse and when I call to check on it; I get a poor/rude attitude and why am I calling again kind of attitude. I was told something different everyday and by unhappy/rude/immature workers. I spoke to a few traveling/out of the area pharmacists at this store because they can't seem to keep a pharmacist??I was also told by the pharmacist that the manager of the store would have to sign off on my chemo meds?! Its a big mess at this pharmacy.I will take my business elsewhere Lakeport -Safeway pharmacy. You need to understand that your customers come first and without them? You do not have a job. You can do much better. I just called the store assistant manager and he is gong to take care it...I really hope he does.I decided to share this review for a few reasons; the first is the need for a change of/and in your attitudes toward your paying customers, secondly, a Cancer patient should not have to go through this for their much needed medications that you clearly didn't care about, this is the second time you have pulled this type of behavior and its not okay; no matter how I look at it.It's scary to think about how you might be treating our seniors in this area who may not be able to stand up for themselves or whom may feel afraid to say anything.Again, the only reason any of you have a job at Safeway is because of your paying customers who deserve respect as well as good customer service!Safeway is an amazing store and I have nothing but gratitude for all of the other departments within this store. Always helpful & kind! and I really appreciate it. Which is why I thought I would give the pharmacy another try.fyi: My past mangers always taught us that "our customers" are to be treated well because they put food on your table, gas in your car and create a way for us to take care for ourselves & our family.Please, think about how you treat your customers and if you don't like customer service?! Please, do all of us a "grand" favor and find a new line of work, you actually like. Thank you : )

This is a great Safeway. It's always fairly clean and stocked. The employees are always friendly and helpful. I don't like when it's crowded, usually on a Friday between 3 and 6pm. The aisle are too narrow to get through and it gets frustrating real quick...

A little bit higher prices than most grocery stores even with the club card. But you know it's very clean well-kept and the employees are exceptional. It's the only place that you can get sushi at lunch time and it's really fresh.

Purchased an organic butternut squash on Sunday, 5/15, to use in a meatless meal today. When I went to prep it (peel, remove seeds, cube, etc) I removed the sticker label to find a gooey, soft spot I cut it away and then opened the squash to be greeted by a bad, rotten smell, black liquid, and fuzzy white mold. When I tried to call the produce department with my concerns, they claimed they couldn't hear me and hung up AFTER I told them I had bought a "Organic Butternut squash". I feel cheated, and in today's economy, money is dear. Not pleased. 😑

This store is very nice, very clean and very big! The clerks are very pleasant people. The aisles are wide and give disabled people like me plenty of room to use my walker. The pharmacy staff are pleasant too.

Friday's are hopping busy. But, only thing I can say is that it's just like every other Safeway. Just different people.
