A uniquely situated cavern near Mount Shasta. Once you reach the visitor center and get your tickets, a short boat ride followed by a bus ride takes you to the caverns. It is not as big as the Luray Caverns in Virginia, but definitely it has its own charm. A must visit place. One needs to allocate around two hours to complete the visit. The boat ride is short and sweet. The bus ride takes us through an elevation of over 600 feet! Please have a jacket handy, especially on a cold day.

We arrived a few minutes before our reservation time, but the boat was already left. Luckily, they added another tour for us and some other visitors. The boat ride was very nice. The tour leader was knowledgeable.Plan for 1.5-2 hours for a visit. No issues with parking.

I am absolutely sure that the caverns are stunning and very much worth the trip, but there was really important information that was not on the website for us to consider when we bought our tickets and then drove 3 hours to get there in 103° weather. Because of the drought, the lake access to the caverns is now a 2-mile walk up and down a steep dirt path. This might not be a problem for many, but if you have a kid like mine, there's no way in heck that little hike is going to happen. We were prepared for the heat, but not for the hike. I hope we have a chance to try again, but this time our trip was a waste of time, money and emotions.

The limestone caverns has an lower and an upper chamber, it is still owned by a private citizen, but is open for the public and managed by CA state. You will take two bus rides and two ferries to get to the caverns, inside, it has some climbing to do. I visited Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico early this year, that one is much bigger and grander, but this one is worth the visit on the west coast. Cheers!

Tour guide was awesome and gave the group a good education. Caverns are well lit as well.

Needed more information on the tour about how they were found along with history on them. But overall still really good.

We came back from Lassen NP and visited Shasta Caverns. Really impressive calcite formations with various shape! We also saw a bat inside the cave.
