The bedding was very clean. However, there were a few issues. The store and restaurant close fairly early, and there isn't any place close that you can go for food or amenities. Second, the furnace was impossible to set to a comfortable temperature. For a solid 5 minutes before the furnace turns on, it sounds like it's constantly being hit with a hammer. Which made sleeping for more than 45 min at a time rather difficult. If you sleep in the bed near the furnace, you get baked like a chicken, but if you sleep on the other side of the room, you freeze. Third, when I went to use the dishes, they required washing beforeI could use any. That was maddening because they charge you $50 if ANY dishes aren't cleaned before you check out. Fourth, the bathroom doors are almost impossible to shut without throwing your entire body weight against them. It will wake everyone up if they aren't already awake because of the hammering furnace. Also, the shower is almost too small for a child. And the vents look like they haven't been dusted since the cabins were built. For over $225 a night, it's not worth it. We didn't complete our stay and ended up in Cresent City.

Closed early with no explanation. Road is open on NB US101 so it's not the landslide and I know because I was stuck on the wrong side of it last night. Which was why I was going to eat here tonight, even though based on the breakfast I had the other day, it's not worth the money.... But that's exactly why I was caught on the wrong side of the landslide: I went to Seaquake because their food is good. The people are nice enough or at least they were on the 1 occasion I've gotten to go in...Well somehow the response made it worse, rather comically; Sir you've gone and put your foot in your own mouth. See, when I walked in there to get breakfast the other morning, you completely ignored me while you talked on your phone. Even though you were standing at the front and you looked right at me... but I had to wait for your co-worker (the woman that you speak of, who was truly kind to me) to come in from putting out the sandwich board sign and then she helped me because you couldn't be arsed to. Also, I'm really sure that you worked very hard to pull my 2 biscuits out of a bag and cover them and canned gravy and sausage before zapping it in the microwave. And don't tell me it's not canned gravy or bagged biscuits. Because it tastes like canned gravy, which also means that it's lacking flavor significantly, but was so high in sodium I was dying of thirst. There was maybe 1 small sausage link worth of sausage in the entire gravy boat (the whole can I presume?). Am I to assumed that the spoon you guys gave me was to just eat the straight gravy out of the container? Didn't even do anything to the biscuits. See, I was gonna be nice and leave that part out on the original review. But here we go.All this being said perhaps you've learned a lesson to take care of yourself next time. Or I don't know, take a bite to eat in between orders. Or just update something on Facebook because I've started checking that too with businesses due to things like this.See I work in healthcare and so....something seems off to me about your story, mainly that it's extremely overdramatic, but it matters little at this point. I wouldn't return anyway. For the record, if you feel your sugar getting low, you're symptoms are "cold and clammy," (maybe some shakiness, especially hands if you're not actually diabetic) so eat some candy to bring the sugar up rapidly and follow up with a carb and protein to stabilize it. It shouldn't go so far as to be that big of an emergency, especially as you've pointed out, there's not much out there where you guys are including emergency services. And also, I'm going to reiterate that the northbound 101 was open because I got through that morning that same way. And yes, the last time I passed by the store was around 2 PM.

Great food and even better service! My husband and I stopped to eat here while on vacation. Shops and restaurants are so spread out in this area and this was one of the only places close by to grab a bite. I thought, this going to be either really good or really bad lol. To my surprise it was fantastic! The owners were so nice and helpful. They were even familiar with and accommodating of my gluten free needs. He made me the best burger (on a lettuce wrap) that I've had in a long time! They also came back to check on us and make sure everything was to our liking. Again, great good and great service all around!! I highly recommend stopping here and supporting this small business.

We didn't stay at the cabins but ate at the cafe. Fabulous service for a small place. They appreciated our business and we appreciated the service. Cafe closes at 6:30 so get there early otherwise you are relegated to trying to battle for the only open food in the nearby town casino. We had the turkey BLT with sweet potato fries and they certainly hit the spot. We would definitely go here again when in the area.

I was told this is A Good Place to Eat... And they were right! We were starving after a long day of driving and then 3 hours at the trees of mystery, and the forest cafe was closed, so we rushed over here to beat them closing. We got a western and a Californian burger, with tater tots and curly fries. Omg, these burgers were out of this world! We absolutely recommend this delicious little hidden spot!

We did not stay here but we stopped at the market. As a tourist, and somewhat distracted from my surroundings, went in, bought what I needed. "Hey any fish in the river this time of season?" He did not give the good spots away, but told me a lot of little clues that helped me figure out that first just a regular license would not be enough. I dropped a few extra dollars on smoked salmon (by far the best I have ever had) and left humbled. Love places like this

Hard to understand check in and out process first reservations where cancelled most likely do to change in owner ship. No cell service and wifi is not useable. I did enjoy the lack of a ringing phone. Walls and windows are very thin so you hear the highway and your neighbors . Be aware of you cook there is no venting in the kitchens and you will have smoke/gas issue if the windows/ doors are not open. Our cleaners left the door unlocked and open when we were gone for the day so be careful of your valuables. Extensive food menu though. Also a few years round residents that live here. Price is nice at about 250 a night for 4 plus a small dog.Nearby activities: Very close to a gas station and has a country store and part Kitchen. Under brand new ownership. Within a mile of The Trees of Mystery. Easy access to Redwoods both State and National parks.

The cabins are clean and the beds are comfortable. Everything is pretty basic but well-maintained. The kitchen was updated and functional ( good fridge, nice sink, some dishes and cookware) but lacked a cooktop. Small electric wall heater took the chill out of the cool spring mornings. I appreciated the effort to beautify the grounds with old-fashioned plantings (lilac, rhodies, sweet william) and an outdoor picnic area.Service was efficient and attentive, but downgrading this score due to the wi-fi being down the first day of my stay. They did get it working, so you probably won't have a problem. Convenience store and restaurant on premises. Try the smoked salmon in vacuum packages from the store.Great location to access the coastal trail and the Redwoods State and National Parks. Good access to Prairie Creek and Del Norte Redwoods. Plus Trees of Mystery, an above average roadside attraction.

The cabin we stayed in was great, but we had trouble understanding when the store was open. The cabins were there when my grandmother moved to the area more than 70 years ago. There's places that their age shows, but it adds to the rustic charm and doesn't affect the quality of the stay. My two main criteria for a hotel-type experience are mattress quality and cleanliness. The cabin gets top marks for both. The bed was the perfect balance between soft and supportive and no springs could be felt. The critical places (like the bathroom sink and sheets) were clean, but happily things like light switches and baseboards were also clean. I was pleasantly surprised at how little highway noise was heard. I also very much appreciated the confirmation call the day before arrival and how easily they accommodated our 11pm arrival. The only reason I bumped the review from 5 to 4 stars was that we couldn't figure out when/if the store was open. My husband was interested in browsing their selection to supplement the breakfast I brought but when he approached a few minutes after 9am an employee spoke to him through the window and he got the idea they weren't open yet. Perhaps they still in the process of adjusting to reduced Covid restrictions. We'll definitely be staying here again the next time we visit my grandmother.

Good burgers and friendly people. Convinced me to try tater tots for the first time, which can‘t be found anywhere in Europe.

Great little cabins that are clean and comfortable. Fire pits and BBQ right near cabins. Store/restaurant/liquor store all in one on site. No swimming pool, but that's what the nearby beach is for.Good value for your money.Nearby activities: Centrally located on 101. Near everything you want to see. Trees of Mystery, beaches, Redwood forest.

We camped in the Redwoods and stopped to see Paul Bunyan at Trees of Mystery. Right down the road is small market with limited wares. It is right next to a gas station. I went looking for a protein rich breakfast for my family and I found so much better. The market has a grill restaurant. For $6, they make delicious breakfast sandwiches of cheese, egg and sausage on a delicious biscuit. One filled me up for hours! Best deal in the Redwoods!

I love this beautiful business and the staff are wonderful. I stayed here several years ago and am looking forward to staying this Fourth of July weekend and seeing Sharon again. Beautiful lady🤗We certainly weren’t disappointed with our stay over the 4th of July weekend. The cabin was immaculate & the beds were extremely comfortable. The staff was excellent & very helpful. We will definitely be staying here again.

Small family-style establishment, we went there in full force on family vacation and ordered 13 cheeseburgers with fries and the works. They accommodated all of us with picnic style outdoor seating in a scenic setting. Food came quickly and was hot and delicious. Real meat, great American style portions, they went out of their way to see that we had fresh veggies and full size condiments, and the fries were really something special. You won't get food or service like this at a major chain, that's for sure, and within seconds drive to visit the Redwoods! Great local secret, that advertises as, "a good place to eat," and should upgrade to, "a great place to eat!"🌲🍔🍟🤗

I booked this cute cabin for a two night stay for one of the stops of our road trip. It seemed perfect with a market and restaurant. However, I was wrong. We arrived at 5pm on labor day. It was closed. No where during my booking and the four emails I received was I told it would be closed on labor day. We went without dinner. The next day, lunch was great! We both had awesome BLTs and french fries ($35). We saw a sign that said they were open till 7:00, perfect. At 6:00 p.m. I went to order a pepperoni pizza, i was told the kitchen closed at 5:45. No where was it stated the kitchen closed at 5:45. Again, we went without dinner. No food within 30min drive north and south.Very dissatisfied with the communication.

I can't speak to the quality of the cabins as I wasn't able to stay there. However, I was not enamored by the service I received from the guys I encountered at their restaurant/market. Both times I encountered them, they were terse, belittling, and unwelcoming, which is not the attitude one wants to be greeted with when one's bloodsugar is crashing first thing in the morning. I work in customer service. I would get in trouble for talking to people the way these guys talked to me. I didn't really want to go back and deal with them again, but everyone said, "You have to try this place! They have great food and great pizza!" So, against my better judgment, I went back to try the pizza. They only have one size pizza, it's not personal sized, and it costs $20+. I don't need a whole giant pizza! I'm traveling! "You want a pizza?" terse window guy asked, slapping down a list with pizzas on it. "What do you want?" Umm, I haven't looked at the menu yet. Don't bother asking the guy what kind of pizza they have. He'll just read down the list of menu titles, pointing to each one like you're a toddler who can't read. I ordered a Crazy Hawaiian, and I could hear both guys talking about my order inside, incredulous that I ordered the pizza with jalapeños on it. What? Just because I'm a fat city girl makes you think I can't tolerate spicy food? I don't consider myself a feminist by any means, but their behavior towards me was downright insulting. Pizza was good; the jalapeños gave it a nice kick. Good thing I brought a cooler with me so at least I'll be able to transport the rest of it home with me. I'm sure the owner is a lovely person, but her restaurant/market employees leave something to be desired. Next time I'm in the area, I'll just go to Crescent City for food.

Dog approved! We loved our two short days here. The downsides: For your sake, let me be clear: NO WI-FI or reception potentially!! Especially depending on where you cabin is. My coworker was slightly closer to the store and was able to watch YouTube/Netflix the whole weekend. I was 3 tiny cabins further from the Wi-Fi spot, same phone plan, and didn’t even have a bar of reception or Wi-Fi in my room. Just be prepared for no connection! There IS a TV to use.Only other downside is if you don’t get the on-site restaurant/store at the right time, there is no food within about 20 minutes north & south. Casino restaurant closed for breakfast & lunch right now. Crescent city about a 30 minute drive depending on construction which can add a bit. Bring microwave foods & snacks and be prepared to ask the store in the morning what the hours for their day will be.The GOOD: great location, so close to so much wildlife. 20 minutes to Prairie Creek Redwoods where we watched endangered murrelets at sunrise. 2 minutes down the road was a fantastic beach spot that allows dogs which is rare for redwoods area. Cabins were adorable, clean, and beds were the NICEST of any hotel I’ve stayed at. Those great foam beds. It’s an older renovated cabin so don’t expect the most modern look. Hot water worked great. Heater was awesome. Don’t think there’s an AC but I was there early spring.Thank you for being dog friendly!!

My wife stopped here en route to Crescent City as we were getting hungry and not sure of our next opportunity. It appears much like a general store from the outside but there is a window into which you can order your lunch selections. My wife had a grilled cheese and bacon and I had a turkey and bacon sandwich and both were surprisingly good. However, eating accommodations was a picnic table and the bathroom was a port-a-john. We also noticed that there is actually a convenience store there but it wasn't open and we would love to have been able to step in and pick up a few things.

Very prejudice place. Grandson and friends stopped for lunch and because he has tan skin they refused to serve him claiming kitchen closed, although they just took order from his friend prior and some construction workers right after! This is not ok. So sad this is still happening today. Shame on you.

The staff was extremely friendly and willing and eager to accommodate our needs. We were originally booked in 14 but due to an issue with the cabin we were switched to 16. Very clean, kitchen has bowls, plates, cups and flatware. Small coffee maker and microwave. Kitchen table for 4 people and futon couch. Small bedroom with queen bed and very small bathroom. May not be suitable for the disabled. It was perfect for us! Bed was comfortable and linens were of nice quality, very fluffy white towels. Despite being right off the highway, it was really quiet at night. I would stay here again!

Stopped to eat lunch here. The pizza was good and fresh especially when you consider the fact that this area is super remote. They had a good variety of food on the menu and grilling some meat outside. The people were friendly and welcoming. The little cabins looked cute and on the woodland edge. Can’t beat that. Thanks for having us!

Stayed at the cabins for 2 nights and it was very clean and the bed was sooo comfy! We also apparently had the "cat cabin" because theres 2 cats that like to hangout/live under it and it made the stay more worth it. :) only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the restaurant and market was a hassle to get dinner/hot food, and the guy working the front window wasn't very warm when assisting us. Other than that, the stay was very nice and comfortable, just be sure to order food early if you want dinner!
