Michelle helped me with making a reservation by phone. The rate was reasonable as family gathered for my mother’s celebration of life. Upon my arrival I checked in and paid for the suite. Right away we noticed the kitchen plumbing leaked. Also we noticed the TV was not working- Michelle and her assistant came to help. A new cable box was added which fixed that. However, the plumbing was tightened/patched and continued to drip into a container. A plumber was to be called, we were told, but never appeared. The kitchen smelled badly of mildew/mold. My daughter prepared food for the next day’s event in the kitchen… I was embarrassed that she had to deal with this inconvenience. I was assured by Michelle (manager) and Debbie (assistant) that I would receive a credit. I was never given a credit! From this point on (including checking out) I could not reach Michelle (or Michael-indicated on a note on the door) or the lodge number on the website. The morning I was to leave- office door was open but again I could not reach anyone to discuss the promised credit. The carpet needs to be replaced badly… otherwise the plumbing and bedding issues need to be addressed. Other guests experienced trouble reaching the management as well during our stay. My daughters observed this. The best thing about staying there- proximity to the pizza barn and coffee place and diner.Rooms: The bedrooms were roomy however there was not enough bedding on each bed. My daughter was to sleep on a fold out sofa but those (3) sofa beds had only a bottom sheet! I searched the rooms and found NO spare blankets. (As mentioned- I could not reach the manager to remedy this situation. I called, messaged and never saw management after check-in and dealings with plumbing/tv.) My other daughter and I gave her a sheet and blanket from our beds. This is when I discovered that the quilt on my bed (under the top cover) was ripped and very worn! What a disappointment… my sister lives in the area and is so sad that we had this experience. I provided this suite for my grown children and grandson. While the suite was fairly clean, it lacked many things we needed and there was a huge lack of follow through/communication.

DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE! You will never actually get to check in! My parents booked a room at this hotel to come visit me. They booked it nearly a week in advance and paid in advance. They arrived at 4:00 pm to a note on the door that they would "Be right back" and a phone number to call. We called this number repeatedly as well as the other 2 numbers we found listed online. There was no voicemail. We left a note on the door with our number to call back. It is now 10:20pm and no one ever called us back. Absolutely unacceptable.

Spent WHISKEY FLAT weekend there, so not disappointed! Everything you could think of was within walking distance and Michele was an amazing host as usual! KERN Lodge is my favorite go-to! Kudos!Rooms: The rooms are spacious, very comfortable and affordable. Some have full kitchens, some sleep a large group, and some are cozy for two. They all have their own theme. Really nice.Nearby activities: Pool table, swimming pool, BBQ patio area for single or large groups, chess board with life size pieces, it's a blast.Walkability: You name it, if it happens in Kernville it's within walking distance!Food & drinks: Beer, restaurants, alcohol, pizza, burgers, fine dining, grocery store, all less than five minutes away.Noteworthy details: Close to the river, rafting, fishing, camping

By far the worst stay I’ve ever had. The place is completely mismanaged but that could be overlooked if they hadn’t charged my credit card fraudulently. They were supposed to debit my card in 2 installments nearer to my travel date but they took the money much earlier. When I tried to call and find out why, their phone was disconnected. When we got there was no one at the office to check us in for 30 minutes. When I finally spoke to someone and asked why my card was debited so early, I was told that the owner couldn’t make payroll so she took my money before she was supposed to. After multiple problems at the hotel, I was told I was going to get my money refunded, which I did. Then, two weeks later, they debited my card once again for the original amount. I had to get a new card and dispute the charges in order to get my money back. It was a nightmare.

In short, I would recommend staying here. However, I'm removing two stars because the staff was difficult to reach, we had no hot water one night, and the wifi was very spotty in our room. I think that these are one-off issues that don't necessarily represent the typical conduct here. Other than those issues, the room was clean and the stay was good.Edit: (2024) It seems nothing has improved, which is a shame given the location.

Used to be a nice place. Most of the rooms are spacious. I've stayed here several times and always liked it. But this time was pretty bad. It seems like they have really let the place go. Room was not clean. No apparent maintenance in room or grounds. No one in office for checking in at 3pm and no answer to multiple phone #'s posted. No linens in room.Fridge door would not stay closed.And on and on. I won't be back.

Got lucky to check in early because someone was in the office. No hand towels, floor was filthy. Pool used to sparkle but not anymore! Seem like a public pool now . Lots of people in and out of there. Saw the "maid" walking around smoking carrying room towls to a empty room. Well we took our losses and packed up early and and left. Didn't want to get sick from the dirty pool. With no where else to cool off. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone

Our visit was mainly for KRBC, so the lodge is a great place for such visit. Other than check-in, the three other times I went into the front office, no one was around to speak with. I just gave up and had to leave. WIFI was non-existent! There was no soap in the shower soap dispenser. Luckily we came prepared with soaps from other hotel visits. Floor was filthy. Had a small spill on the floor so I used a paper towel to clean up the spill and the paper towel was black from the filth on the floor. The is a random boot under one of the beds from a previous guest. Who knows how long it’s been there!? It seems the locals have access to the pool and use it more than the guests!

Three different phone numbers are listed on different online services but none go to a live person. Front office wasn't staffed so it was hard to check in and ask for support. Our room was missing the soap dispenser - we acquired and the response was "oh yeah, it broke" so I guess they just forgot to do something about it. Room also had no towels. There was a Direct TV box and a TV remote but no TV. The smoke alarm was sitting on a dresser, open with one battery missing. The fact that I was able to rent a room in this state really made me feel like they don't care about their customers.

Stayed here in Seascape 116 for two nights. The room was cute. Had a kitchenette with stove top. Customer service was good and it was so close to amazing food, drinks and stuff to do. The pool was clean and so was the property. I do have 3 complaints (reasons for only 4 stars). When we got there (after a 3.5 hour drive and an hour and a half after check in time) our room was still dirty and they asked us to roam around town for an hour. Two, even though we weren't in the room much, the wifi did not connect to that room and last the queen bed in our room was not comfy at all. Overall good stay probably would stay again but in a different room.

Mixed opinions. Loved the staff. Hotel is a bit dated and worn out. First night our rooms had no hot water. The staff stepped up and took care of the problem in a very satisfactory way.The phone isn’t always answered but they took care of us very well. Though there were issues we would stay there again. A vey convenient location.

It was beautiful and clean! There were a few things that could be better, like saop in the dispenser and the toilet paper was one ply, but that's not bad enough to lose a star for me. The kitchen has a little back porch and it looked beautiful. Overall it was a great stay, good bed and good room

First time in Kernville and we loved it! The area and the Lodge was lovely ,,, The thing was the amazing customer service we got .. Michelle was was so gracious and kind, an the staff?.. SUPER ..Will let all our friends and family know what a wonderful place the Lodge is to stay ,, Thank you Michelle .. you made the weekend special, even during a hurricane !!Nearby activities: rafting, jet skiing and watching the stars

We loved our stay at the Kern Lodge. We had 5 families in our group and everyone was happy with the accommodations. It is all very basic but but is overflowing with charm and hospitality. Michelle was incredibly thoughtful and went above and beyond to make my Christmas decoration dreams come true. We look forward to staying again - it’s a great spot to stay when you’re in the Sierra Nevadas to get your Christmas tree.

Just got back from an incredible trip to the Kern Lodge. We arrived with five families. Michelle, the manager, was warm and welcoming. She went above and beyond to bring some early Christmas cheer to our children. We loved the fire pit in the evenings and the cozy laid back feel of the lodge. Thank You Michelle!

Clean rooms, friendly staff, yard games for the kids, pet friendly. The only thing missing was a jacuzzi. But the pool was nice. Shallow end for the littles. Worth a future stay.Update: stayed a second time 2 years later. Front desk staff was friendly. Rooms could have been a little cleaner, toilet was a little 🤢 and there was a wet towel in the ice container. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars across.

Manager Michelle was exceptionally sweet and warm when I checked in, even though it was very late and approaching the end of the office hours.She made me feel right at home, despite being thousands of miles away! I’m so grateful to her for such a warm welcome, especially after 6 hours of driving earlier in the day.I hope I get the chance to stay again in the future!

The hotel was affordable and we were able to check in early. The staff was really friendly. We had a 2bed room one queen one double. The beds were decent and firm, the way i like them. It was a tight squeeze with 2 beds had to walk sideways to get to the bath room, the shower was small. My husband is a big guy and he had a little bit of a hard time moving around in the shower. The floor was hard wood floor which i liked. there was your standard small fridge and microwave. The hotel was cute and for something last minute worked perfectly!

Really nice vintage cabins. Cable and ac in both rooms. One star knocked off because the second room didn't have a remote for AC (only way to work it) the shower had low pressure and hot water took forever to get going.

Phoned on a day's notice whilst on a motorcycle trip, and the owner was extremely helpful in helping us get accomodation. Ended in a lovely lodge with tons of room and character. From the well maintained premises to the tables adorned with designs made from pennies layered, the entire experience was excellent. Will definitely stay again!

Very cute room with kitchen and even a fenced private "back yard" with grill and table. Awesome comfy beds and perfect pillows. Pool and free game room with pool and darts. And outdoor life sized chess and checkers! Locally owned, smoke free and very clean and well cared for. If this was closer to home, we'd stay here often. ( Live in WI).

This place seemed on the fence . Teetering between could be great or not so good. Seemed to be trying and had some very nice touches but maybe might have been a little cleaner. The location was great..could walk to a couple excellent eating places. We had a room with a kitchenette and I don't know if that was the cause but the room had a really bad rancid smell. They had all the windows open so assume they were trying to air it out. We used Lysol to help with the smell. There was a wall heater that worked very well.
