Overall a good experience at the Riverview Lodge. The location is perfect with river access and right in the heart of town. Also, the owner was very helpful in assisting in my needs with my k9 travel partner. The rooms are basic and clean, the AC kept it comfortable in the 100* heat.Walkability: Close to restaurants and bars in town, also near activity centers for rafting.

So, I had a unique experience. Showed up, booked a room, and after booking decided to go another direction and camp on the river. Upon doing this, the owners, without hesitation understood and agreed to refund my money (with no fees or headaches). After doing this, we had some banking issues, I became concerned and the owners were attentive, communicative and helped every step of the way. Long story short, the refund went through seamlessly and I came to appreciate that the owners of this spot are solid people who just want everyone to have a good time. I appreciate them and their business--they could've easily refused to refund my money or be flexible.

I knew this place would be rustic but I'm not ok with it not being clean. Carpet had stains everywhere. Bathroom was full of mold and hole in the wall. Toilet seat paint was coming off. We had food under our bed that wasn't cleaned. Ac cooled bathroom but didn't face sleeping area. Bed was very hard, didn't sleep the two night we stayed. Very disappointed in our stay. Coffee was goodI have pictures to share

Was charged a late fee, $50, even though we were checked out of the hotel by 12. Our car wouldn’t start and we were stuck waiting for AAA for 2 hours. Owners were never on-site the entire weekend. Maid called & told them we were still at the motel and they charged us $50 and were told we could never stay at their hotel again. It was 90 degrees out,, we had our dogs and no where to go but sit & wait for tow service.Very rude, unprofessional customer service.Read Yelp reviews and they had 16 poor reviews of service and charging customer’s credit cards without their authorization. 👎👎👎

We booked this room super last minute and due to a family emergency, which changed our plans. Annette and John were so helpful and accommodating, and quickly helped us get into a room for the weekend. We got into our room and it was very clean! It was a cozy cabin theme which fits the hotel and location perfectly. The beds were extremely comfortable, room came with a microwave and mini fridge which was so nice! The only thing that was better than the accommodation, and the hospitality was the view! Right out our window we had the best view of the kern River. We could hear the peaceful sound of the rushing River just feet away. It was amazing. This hotel is also perfectly located right in the middle of the beautiful town of Kernville, it’s walking distance from multiple restaurants, bars, riverside park and rafting companies.I will be counting down the days till I can come and stay at the beautiful Riverview lodge.Thank you again Annette & John!We truly appreciate it!

We are local here to the KRV and work in Kernville so booked a room close to our job. We really enjoyed the stay, it was peaceful and the bed, blankets and pillows were all so comfortable. The coffee in the morning was great for my husband and we loved sitting outside our room enjoying the morning breeze and view. We had a miscommunication with staff but it was figured out and we are as happy as can be. All in all a great place to stay.

NOT A GOOD FIRST TIMEcharged my card before I even arrived, told me I could not have an ice chest in my room, no door handles that say you don’t want cleaning service, no coffee pot, no phone to call the office. Kernville inn across the street is same price and 100% better everything.

I brought my 6 year old son here the past week and this place is the best! John and Annette were amazing hosts and our room could not have been better. The river was right outside our front door and the lodge had tubes we were able to use for floating down the river which my son loved. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to experience the beauty of the Kern River Valley during any season of the year. Everything was perfect!

Just stayed here this past weekend and did not have a good experience. The rooms were very much out dated and were not clean at all. Our room had a very funny smell and smelled like smoke. Underneath the pillow cases, the pillows were pure brown. The walls were also paper thin and you can hear other people snoring and their conversations. Everywhere you looked, you saw an ash tray. I would definitely not recommend staying here.

This is motel with a huge history. Research the motel and the area to find out more. A clue is, it was built to provide rooms for movie stars back in the day. If you are looking for the clean sterile look and feel of a Best Western this might not be for you. The rooms are log cabin style and are great. They are clean with a fridge and microwave and very hot showers and basin water. Just make sure to turn the cold water on first. The is no breakfast like most post covid motels but there is hot coffee in the morning. The only time when i saw a member of staff was when i left my key in the room and someone was there in less than a minute and he was smiling lol. The motel has it's own river access and our room looked out on to the river. It was lovely to sit outside and listen to water bubbling by and the chorus of frogs which accompanied it. .Now to the area...Kernville is a wonderfull place to visit. There is rafting, kyaking fishing and lots of River type things to do. If that is not your thing there are great places to eat and bars to drink at. Antiques seem to be in abundance and the museums are superb. If you like history there is enough here to keep you occupied for days. Not too far away are ghost towns to check out.Now back to River View Lodge. It is perfectly placed the do all these adventures. There is even a BBQ to cook your freshly caught trout.I highly recommend staying at this motel. We did and had a great time.Steve

I’m pretty easy going and don’t expect Hilton type cleanliness from mom and pop type places like this but I would highly recommend staying elsewhere. The rooms are dirty (we had two). There are ash-trays outside every room. Bedding is dated. Pillows are stained. One bathroom looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a couple months. One room had an odd smell. The walls between rooms are paper thin (we had an army of snorers next to us). There are other options here at the same price that look much more neat and clean.

Great for the price point. Close to downtown shop and restaurants. Adorable bedside table lamp. Carpet needs some love. Outside is lit up so great for feeling safe but may need a sleep mask.

My family and I had the best time in this little town. The lodge is basic but that’s forgiven by the beauty of its location. We walked to dinner and observed the stars and milky way. The Pizza Barn served the best pizza and the morning walk to river seeing the hummingbirds was a real treat. Highlight of our fly drive.

This is a nice, older place...which is why it is a 2 star lodge...but don't let that deter you from going...it is clean, the staff is friendly and they will go out of their way to make sure you are a happy customer 😀. Unfortunately it was the hotest time on record when we went so we are going back in September! They have a private beach area on the banks of the river only steps away from your room...that alone was worth the stay...enjoy!!!

Came here in December for the annual Citra beer at Kern River Brewing. The owners are very friendly and nice and of course love the beer as well at Kern so that made me feel even more welcomed! We stayed only for the night since we had plans on our way back home. The rooms were very well clean and spacious for the size we got in our queen room. I cant really complain except for minor imperfections like the the bathroom shower that just needed some spackling and some touchups. Other than that, this place would be a nice spot to visit again during the summer since its close to the river. We will be back soon again Im sure! They also have a nice basic breakfast room in the lounge area with basic stuff like fruits, bagels, snacks and coffee so you cant go wrong with that!

Location is good. It's right next to the river and located in downtown Kernville. A lot of cool bars to check out around the town.Rooms: Pretty rustic. But pretty much has everything you need though. A/C, microwave, TV, fridge.

Its was really nice of them to acomadate us at such a late time of night. The bed was verry comfortable and the ac and heater in room work great. But i did notice that the pillows really old and starting to fall apart. The carpet was extremely filthy the bathroom floor was rotting and caving in at the foot of the shower and the wall was cracked and had rotting dry wall at the shower head. So over all experience was ok.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon here 15+ years ago. We have stayed many more times, spent our 15th ANNIVERSARY here, and will be staying again soon. It's right by the river, close to town, and pleasant. It's pet friendly, clean, and a great place to relax. Rustic with benefits...like a continental breakfast and rocking chairs!

Adjacent to Riverside park, if you're into water tubing then this is the spot for you. If you bring tubes and you don't have an air pump or you don't have any tubes, the lady across the street will fill up your tube for a dollar and or sell you a brand new tube. I didn't go into the water because I have very bad balance due to my feet, but my family did and they said that the current is very strong. They suggest wearing water shoes.

Well we made the mistake of booking a vacation of our lives here. When we arrived and checked in the owner seemed nice enough. But wait... He walked us to our rooms pointing out any hazards that could trip us up. We arrived at our rooms and opened the door it was then we realized just how much our plans had just changed. Our rooms were something out of a old western movie. Not because of the ambience, but because of the filth and the broken down furniture. For the money my Brother had paid,we assumed at the very least it would be CLEAN. But That was not to be. The bedding was filthy dirty as well as worn out. When we asked for new linens, we were basically told to leave. We tried to negotiate with him and her. But all she wanted was for us to leave. So eventually after unloading our things,we reloaded our things. And headed up the canyon where we found the Whispering Pines Lodge. What A GREAT PLACE!!! So in closing I would like to say. I will or would never recommend the River View to anyone. And if I can prevent one person from experiencing what we did I'll feel okay about things!!!\

We've been coming to the Lodge for a few years and we are never disappointed in the hospitality and pride of ownership the owners take in their business. The rooms are very comfortable country style and very clean. The maid service is always on time and if you ask for extras they will take care of you. The rocking chairs outside your rooms make a great comfortable place to read or chat with people and soak in the fresh air and atmosphere. You can literally see the river from outside your room and the fishing is usually pretty good. I've done very well fishing for trout right down below the lodge. The location is great because you are close to town, the bars and everything is in walking distance. Great restaurants nearby and great guides for hiking, rafting, fishing, and shopping. The owners are very friendly and will make sure you have the best stay while your there. This lodge is one of a kind and you will get a one of a kind experience at the RiverView Lodge in Kernville, CA.

I rented a room here for 2 days. The management team was very nice to me. The motel is not exactly wheelchair friendly,it is not their fault because the building was not designed for disabled people. The room i had was nice, comfortable bed.probably best motel in town. I was happy during my stay.

So called owner is very rude and is more concerned with smoking pot right outside my room door “room 6” than taking care of her guests. We drove over an hour to stay in kernville had our room reserved for “3 guests” the woman’s assumed boyfriend checked us in without isssues. We stayed in our room for about and hour and when we were walking out of our door. pot breath lady ambushed us and told us that we had to leave. That her rooms do not support 3 guests regardless of what Expedia says. She wasn’t even willing to see what my reservation said on my email. Overall very bad experience and would not recommend at all. She then went on to tell us that she has kicked out family’s and small children and don’t mess with her

I'm one of the housekeepers but it's a beautiful place to stay while on vacation or traveling for work. I'd 100% stay here if I was a guest and I'm not just saying that because I work here, I'm saying it because it's true.Rooms: Beautifully cleaned and ready to help make awesome memories with your family or friends.Nearby activities: River rafting, fishing in the nearby river, skiing up in the mountains (go up Evans Road in Wofford Heights)Walkability: The walk ways to the rooms are always clear. And the river is only a few paces behind the lodge if you're trying to whip out your fishing line or maybe even get some tanning and watch the kids play around in the water. The lodge is perfectly placed within walking distance of the diner, bars, restaurants and the park for when the kiddos need to get out all of their energy.Looking to get some groceries if you're staying a whole week or other much needed products? Well just visit Sierra Gateway. Walk (if you wanna enjoy the view of the mountains that surround our little town) or drive over the bridge, take a left at the end of the road and keep your eyes to the right.
