We went in 2022 and the water was really low. It was great to just sit in the water to stay cool. Camp grounds were well kept, bathrooms clean and warm showers.2023, we had to cancel our camping trip because our campsites were washed out due to the heavy rain that winter.Photos of us in the water was 2022. Very low and calm water.2023, we went to check it out before our booked trip and were shocked at how high the water was. Way up into the campsites. Sites 104, 105, 106 and 107.

I thought the bathrooms and showers were some of the cleanest I've seen at a campground. Great job by the staff. My biggest issue with this place is the location, you're not really in nature when across the river you'll be treated to people's vacation homes and rbnb's.It wasn't what we were looking for

Pros: This campground is right by the river which our family loves. We love that there is direct river access and little to no interruption from staff. The campground was clean upon arrival, and we got most of what we expected. Such as a small fire pit and bench at each site. The sites we got do not have power and there is a small faucet for cleaning hands/ dishes. Cons: I think the bathrooms are too far away from camp (tent) sites but close to where RVs park (doesn't make sense to me). If you want to be woken up by an extremely loud motorcycle everyday at 4am, this is the campsite for you. During our stay, there was a resident who blasted his Harley every single morning around this time, luckly the kids went right back to sleep after he took off. Also, there are plenty of mosquitoes, bees, red ants, and skunks (so lock up all your goods before bed).

This is a great camp ground on the river. It also has 2 streams running through the camp ground that's great for little kids to play in. You are just on the outskirt of town. There is a market just down the road incase you forget to bring anything. If you don't feel like making a meal at your campsite there are also restaurants within a couple of minutes driving.

This place has definitely gone downhill. Every time my call I get a rud staff, young girl non-friendly. I've been camping here for years to be treated like this and when I asked for Chris who is super friendly doesn't want to transfer me to talk to somebody who has courtesy. Prices on this place are outrageous at this point, Will definitely not be coming back!

This place is good, there's lots of space to explore, the camping areas are big,The only bad thing is the river is beyond cold right now because of all the snow melt. There's a bathroom and shower which is nice and there's lots of stores around the area. Overall great experience.Rooms: Lots of space and tablesNearby activities: There's river raftingSafety: Little cars any low speed.Walkability: You can walk freely.

165 for what USED TO BE “rivrerside spots, that now after the flood are no longer riverside spots. The Audacity! From 430 to 439 the River is a hundred yards away! The check in lady acts like she’s been working for about twenty minutes. Spot clean up between campers is next to nothing like it used to be before they decided to act like they’re Beverly Kernville. What a shame. As soon as my reservations run out we’re done. Asked why so much and their pompous answer was “ people will pay!” SAD SAD SAD.

I had been looking forward to staying here for over a year. With everything going on I had to cancel/rescheduled a few times. I finally had a 4 day booking for Labor Day weekend but checked out after just one night. Other campers do not adhere to the camping noise regulations and the campground staff definitely do not impose them either. Our neighbors across the way were loud and had their music blasting past midnight. There were other campers being loud and playing music past ten as well. The campsites are quite small and no space whatsoever between your site and the next. The women’s bathroom needed some attention as there were huge spider webs everywhere. I don’t mind bugs at all but I also don’t want to do my business or shower and have webs that close to me with dead bugs and live spiders on them. The only pro this campground has going for it is the river access but was also disappointed that there are homes on the other side of the river. I thought it would be more secluded. Needless to say, I’ll stick to camping in National and State Parks and forests.

Rivernook was awesome! We camped right on the river. The staff was cool. One thing we really liked was how even after the camp store was closed. They would roll around with a golf cart every hour or so. If you needed wood or ice they would deliver it to your spot! We showed up on motorcycles with a small dog. Camp spots were a little close together, but still enough space for a few to setup.

Solid spot with a front row to the river. Great bathrooms, solid services... but when it comes to turning in, I was having trouble figuring out if I was at the club or if I was at a campground. Not to mention that the markup on everything in the campground is at least 200% what you would pay for down the street. I try to be positive about new spots but this one just left a sour taste in my mouth and had me leaving a day early from out 3 night stay.

Went for a fall get away! Absolutely beautiful with the yellow leaves falling..still plenty of shade. Spaces for all sizes.. large area..definitely do not feel packed in like so KOAs etc... no complaints...liked that there is a gate code. We did see 🐻 in the camp ground! We fished and walked the property and had camp fires. Great family time.. spaced big enough to handle our Class A and Jeep.

Always a great place to spend some time. Many great memories as a kid running around Rivernook. Enjoy it almost as much as I did 42 years ago. But everything was cooler then.

Really happy I stumbled across this camp ground :) Nice shaded campsites, right beside the river. Friendly staff and nice amenities. I had a very peaceful/relaxing sleep last night (no loud neighbours… only the sounds of frogs and the river going by) I highly recommend this campground 👍

Its always clean. The staff is friendly and Karen in the office is the best! This is a private campground so the rules are better enforced. Its probably the cleanest campground here. They have a large staff and a small well stocked store. Its shady and the sites are large with a couple of nice bathrooms with showers. This our favorite place to come for QUIET relaxation. There are sites right next to the river as well as many more an easy walk away. There are a couple of nice walking paths to get a little exercise. The fishing is outstanding!

Been going here for years and all a sudden this camp host comes to tell us we need to move our tent 1 foot over. My husband and son were at the store and she stood there telling me I needed to move it immediately. I’m sorry, there is a baby sleeping inside not to mention I cant move it alone. When my husband returns and she telling him to move it now. You hear her make a comment that she doesn’t like our type of people.I have never been so insulted. She said if we didn’t like it here that we could leave. There are many other campgrounds at Kern River and never had a problem like this before. I will never stay here again.

This was our second time coming down to this campground from SD CA. And as usual we loved and enjoyed every second :) BUT when we got home my 2 yr old started having a fever and a bad rash all over his little body, i took him to the hospital and guess what? He had SWIMMERS ITCH. I never knew what it was until then. He caught it here at rivernook campground. Just wanted to inform anyone. Its not dangerous but it is pretty gross and scary 😩

Nice campground staff difficult. Was told via phone early entry ok if open. We were early. Site was open we were told too early people still checking out ok no problem hour later they still need to check the site, no people leaving. 2 hours later electric work being done can’t come in till regular time. If they had just said that to begin with we would have left gone to lunch and come back. Frustrating. And 100 degrees finally turned on the generator and AC.

I would give this place a 0I have been camping my whole life and this place is the worst I have ever been. We could not play our music on our phone they asked us to turn it off we could not use golf cart we were told it was banned we were told to leave a day early without notice so they called the police it’s ridiculous. They have roaches here and there was no please to sit by the water I will never go back here again. Do not go here they are harassing us the whole time. I would go next door It’s clean and very nice.

I really like this campground. Very clean. Free clean showers and flush toilets. They have full hookups, partial, (no sewer) with 30amp and 50amp, tent sites, some with electric. Staff is wonderfully. Some sites on the Kern River. Also a Frizbee Golf course. Think u should wear boots, lol. I was there for a week. Reserve 6 nites and 7th free. Kernville town is super close with nice places to eat. Also a park where u can drop in ur float and relax. I highly recommend this campground. 😎

Well maintained place. This trip will be like the 5th for us. Showers need to be open until around 10 pm. It would be nice if they would lay gravel throughout the while site.

This place is spectacular!! It has everything you need. Spaces are nice and big. With trees. All types. For tents, partial and full hookups. Bathrooms are big and clean. They have a small store at the entrance. The best part is the awesome river. There are several small spaces on the river edge where you can Just hang out, great for small children. But farther in, there is a nice current for older kids to play. Or for the more adventurous, you can walk up the river, about 10 min, and then float down on an inflatable tube. They recommend life vests, but the current is only strong enough to make it fun. We came with our 11, 12 and 16 year olds. They all had a great time. The water is cold, but it felt great with the August heat.
