I live in Kernville, but recommended this place because it's very close to my home. My friend from Australia came to stay for 3 days and because she's allergic to my cats we spend a lot of time in the room there hanging out and touristing in town. It's perfectly located for enjoying all the Kernville has to offer. We took a drive up to the high country and found a little bit of snow. We enjoyed all the eateries around. The rooms are warm and rustic and have that lovely country feel. There was a beautiful swimming pool (thought it was too cold to take a dip), And there's a gorgeous room with lots of rich history of the Kern River Valley and Kernville itself. The staff were so friendly and went above and beyond to be helpful to us. As many times as I have traveled and stayed in motels I have never experienced staff that friendly.Needless to say, I highly recommend you staying here as I will be continuing to recommend it to my friends who come to visit our lovely forest.

We did not have a reservation and were graciously helped and stayed at this Inn. Many extra touches are added here, but the service we received is so rare nowadays. We will come this way again just to stay here. Old fashioned and tucked away and snug as a bug! Loved it. Thank you so much!!!Noteworthy details: Snacks and nice coffees and teas included.

My husband & I stayed for 3 nights --what a delight! The room was beyond spacious. While the carpet & furnishings are new, the rooms--and the whole Inn, really--retain the original charm and craftsmanship. The bed and bedding was spotlessly clean and amazingly comfortable. My husband's heart was won at instant hot water and abundant water pressure and flow! All furnishings were well thought out as well as coffee, outlets, etc. The owner, Roberta, was available either onsite or by cell 24/7. The pool area was delightful. A rather large market & several restaurants are within very short walks. We love this place!

Piazza's Pine Cone Inn is a delightful place to stay. While there, we had the opportunity to meet the owner, Roberta, who introduced herself as our "host". We later found out a little bit of her very incredible story, and this Inn houses some great collectable items she has on display. I appreciated the humbleness when I later found out she owned the place but said she is our host. While a bit dated, the rooms were clean and had what you needed for a very comfortable stay. As of this review, if you want to watch Netflix/Hulu etc., you will need to bring a hookup for a device to stream it.All in all, I highly recommend this place, not only because of the place itself and being centrally located, but every staff member was so kind!Nearby activities: Restaurants, shops, rafting

What a treat! So glad we changed from our original destination! Beautiful knotty pine, retro 1950's pink tile in bathroom, spotless and very spacious room with giant sliding door over looking gardens and pool. Central to everything. We loved our stay (extended by a day). Everyone is so gracious and kind. Bonus = the sweetest cat ever comes to visit ❤

I travel all over the country, and I am constantly looking for that one special place. Pinecone Inn is wrapped in history and when you sit in the chair with the garden style pool, you can imagine the husband and wife in 1955 breaking ground off on the adventure of the American Dream. Karen and Kyler were so welcoming. I got to go on a short tour of the historical restaurant. The owners are family, and you can tell!! I would’ve loved to met them and listened to what I’m sure are amazing stories. if you truly want an experience that takes you away from the hustle and bustle you must visit Piazza Pine Cone hotel.

This is one of the coolest places I have ever stayed in. Extremely good staff here, with front desk help that is beyond comparison. I cannot praise this place high enough. Some of the best vibes I have ever felt from a place to stay. Just an amazing experience, with an absolutely stunning retro feel. Perfectly preserved, and in prestige condition. You can't build authentic character like this overnight, and the love that the owner and staff feel for this place is not unnoticed. Rooms are very clean, with comfortable beds, and nice TV's. Climate controlled rooms packed with natural charm. Book a room here now! This place is an absolute national treasure. Thank you Roberta Piazza for keeping this as is, and so we'll maintained!

This Inn is THE CUTEST and the owners are fantastic! We are two PCT hikers taking a break in town and were blown away by the plentiful and wonderful smelling flowers surrounding the property, the quaint, well equipped, and spacious rooms, the perfect location, and the adorable cats that live or visit the motel. It’s hard to go wrong in Kernville but the Pine Cone is absolutely the best motel that has it all. One day we’ll be back as regular tourists and we can’t wait!

Didn’t even stay here and they get 5 stars! Had a reservation but got switched due to business. Kylie invited us to the evening program anyway, and she and Roberta made us feel so welcome and part of a special community there that night. We caught a stellar Bluegrass show in the lovely lodge with a great audience. We will be sure to stay next time we come through the area.

Everything about my stay at the Pinecone inn was wonderful. The room itself had vintage charm that set it above a cookie cutter hotel room and was spotless. I never wanted to get out of bed because the mattress and linens were so comfortable. But get out I did, because the pool area was a welcoming oasis that made a perfect place to relax in the 95 degree the weekend I visited. But best of all were the people. The owner and employees made us feel so welcome, at home, and personally connected. Kernville was almost entirely booked the night we visited, and they went out of their way to make sure that we had a place to stay the night. We met a patron that had been coming to the inn for years, and I can absolutely see why!

Great rooms, amazing courtyard, super friendly and welcoming staff! Everything is clean and tidy. Only complaint is the shower was dark and that made it seem way smaller than it actually was. I absolutely loved my stay!

One of the cutest, quaint, best kept motels I've had the pleasure of staying at. You can tell the owners really enjoy their business by how well they keep up on the property along with the employees. Very sweet and kind. Definitely the most home like feel I've experienced as a hotel guest. Definitely coming back and recommending to family

Awesome value but perhaps a LITTLE updating would be good? This place was really nice. Staff super friendly. This town is so great... would have loved to of stayed here longer. My girl and I will certainly check out the Sequoias again and when we do we'll definitely stay here. Two updates I think they should think of doing though... putting the A/C on an actual thermostat so its not just full on or full off. An exhaust fan in the bathroom you know... to keep the stink out when taking care of business. THAT SAID... for the price the place is wonderful. Oh... and the sliding door didn't always lock... could be a security issue?

Lovely inn with fantastic service! Check-in was fast and we were immediately charmed by the manager. Our room was cool and clean, and we were given a corner room so we could enjoy more privacy. They have an event space so we were able to hold a family dinner and pool party, it was the perfect size and they were very accommodating. We would definitely return again!

Piazza’s Pine Cone Inn is a great small family owned motel in the middle of Kernville, California. Friendly staff, comfortable beds and air conditioned rooms makes for a fantastic stay. Super busy most Friday and Saturday nights but usually open mid week. Better to call them directly vs. over the internet as they are more accommodating to requests and availability.

Roberta Piazza is the finest innkeeper around! Her family built the "Cone" and she has carried on the tradition in fine style. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Everything was spotless. The swimming pool was a godsend after our days spent hiking and exploring the surrounding area. The best night was Tuesday, "Ukelele Night," when locals gathered in the former dining room of the hotel to strum and sing along with Roberta and her husband, Josh. I don't play the uke but everyone is welcome and we had a grand time. Lots to do in the area, including hiking and soaking in Remington Hot Springs. Walk by the river in the evening and watch the bats soaring overhead and the loudest chorus of frogs I've ever heard. Breakfast at Cheryl's Diner every day was great. I can't wait to return to the Cone next year!

My daughter and I stayed 1 night. For $130 you get a very clean room, small fridge, microwave, lg flat screen, cool pool, grilling area and coffee in the office. It was 95 degrees and the poor little ac barely kept up but it was good enough. As mentioned in other reviews, restaurants, stores and gas stations are walking distance. This facility does not have river access. We wished we had more time to enjoy the area!

This place was an amazing respite from the trail. We are through hiking the PCT Southbound, stayed here and got the most friendly, kind and helpful service from Pablo. Our room was impeccably clean, we used the grill to cook a great steak dinner and sat by the pool in the shade, lovely and quiet. Pablo could not have been more helpful. We will be back! Thank you for really offering true hospitality, its rare these days!

Just wanted to give a 'two thumbs up' to the Pine Cone Inn! When we pulled into the parking lot we fell in love with the place immediately and were even more impressed when we walked into our room! It definitely has the '50s' feel which we loved! Large room which also included a refrigerator and microwave. Staff was very friendly and helpful! We would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here 1 night. We arrived around 8 830pm, after taking care of check in the very sweet and lovely lady (bad with names) walked us to our room, showed us where everything was and made sure TV AC etc etc. worked before she left us. The room we had was big. Queen bed, couch with pull out, lg fridge and microwave. Coffee, tea, pastries in the morning. And if you forgot something the front desk will get it for you. Even a dog bed 🐶💜. Despite not being on the river we would and will stay here again. The only down side is the pool closes at sundown and the bbq, (propane) you have to let them know when you're going to be using it. The pine cone has a beautiful space for say a wedding reception or special occasion. I will be in touch to go over this as my husband and I are planning a big wedding (yes we're married, but want to have a big wedding. It was just us and a couple others when we got married in Dec.).

Great little small hotel. I've always been skeptical of these little places but this was a great surprise. Old school and friendly, has a great pool with grill access. It's like a place before the big chains sterilized everything. Very friendly owners.

Spotless room + the best customer service in town -- professional and friendly. Beautiful pool and a personal visit from the 4-legged manger made this a great stay. This fam of 4 can't wait to visit again!

Such a gem! I almost don’t want to tell the world about it because it feels like such a hidden treasure (so few of those left in California). Kind staff, lovely garden, refreshing pool, mountain views, clean rooms, comfy beds, walking distance to town, adorable cat, super cushy patio furniture for sun or shady relaxing, big sliding glass doors for fresh mountain air, quiet nights, we love the Pine Cone!
