We love this campground. It is beautifully situated right on the Kern River. The campground is immaculate - and guests are strongly encouraged to keep it that way. The hosts are delightful and so helpful with any information or supplies you need. We were impressed that it looked even better this year than last, with more amenities for groups and games for kids. The owners do a fabulous job of making this a topnotch campground. We'll be back! Also, if you need a good breakfast while in Kernville we highly recommend Cheryl's Diner. A throw back to the past with great food and terrific staff. The Eggs Benedict includes homemade hollandaise!!

We had a wonderful time in this campground. The host greeted us when we arrived and made check-in fast. Another person checked up on us to see if we needed more firewood. The restroom was clean, and our site is very close to the river. My kids enjoyed riding their bikes around the campground and playing at the play area. We'll definitely come back!

Very clean and safe location with private entrance. The common area is nicely shaded with trees and filled with games to spend a good time with friends and family. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Easy access to the Kern river. Lots of spots with decent shade where to place your tent. Really liked the sand over the entire campground; made it easy and safe to walk around barefooted. Clean restrooms and showers with hot and cold water. Truly had a good experience. The whole family enjoyed it. I would recommend this place to everyone looking for outdoor enjoyable fun and will definitely go back for more.

We stayed 3 nights in the Lofty Oak site. It seemed to be one of the best sties and we loved it. The hosts were awesome and very helpful. The campground location couldn't be better. River right there, minutes to town and services. The place had a grassy area to place lawn games and sandy areas to hang out. Lots of trees and plenty of shade everywhere. A very nice amphitheater where my 9 year old held a show for us. Bathrooms were very nice (need a few more) and kept clean and stocked throughout the day. All in all a wonderful and relaxing place to place to camp and enjoy the river.

Had SUCH a good time at this campsite. Came with friends for my birthday in August. Hosts were exceptional- very attentive and reliable! Loved Grant & Michelle. The campsite has everything you need in terms of clean bathrooms, showers, activities, snacks & drinks. This was my second time attending and can’t wait to be back! :) hoping

Grant, Michelle and staff were amazing hosts for our camping retreat. Everyone was friendly, helpful, always had a smile and went above and beyond. Made our stay even more enjoyable. We loved how every campsite was unique and well kept. Plenty of fun activities including volleyball, corn hole and horseshoes to name a few. The bathrooms were a godsend with hot water to wash your hands and great showers with hot water and good water pressure. A very nice perk and service provided was the ice & firewood delivery! Amazing! Highly recommended for any length of stay! Thank you for an amazing retreat.

Great place to go camping but it is on the pricy side. The camp spot we stayed at was a nice walking distance to the river and a short walk to the bathroom. It’s pet friendly and spots are close to one another but far enough away it was a nice experience.Nearby activities: The river is close to the campground

Went up to Kern River's Edge for the meteor shower and was not expecting to have such an amazing stay. All of the employees we encountered were great. They checked in on everyone from set up to the late night without being overly intrusive. The check in with Michelle was amazing. The meticulous time she took to walk us through all the exciting events and activities the campsite had to offer already made it feel like it was going to be a great vacation. Grant's friendly mellow energy set the tone for our trip once parked. One of the things that really stood out was having ice and firewood delivered right to our campsite. It's those little details that make all the difference when enjoying those small moments with loved ones without having to leave the site. The restroom facilities were among the cleanest I have used camping. Now, let me tell you about the epic moment when Grant turned from camp host into the meanest bear defenders this side of Kern county! Late at night, as we were winding down by the fire, a curious bear paid a visit on campgrounds right behind our tents. Without hesitation, Grant swoops in to ensure our safety with loud noises, big rocks, and some bigger Grant energy to fend off the furry one. Talk about going above and beyond! I felt totally secure with Grant on guard. And can we talk about those telescopes? Beyond the meteor shower, there was a special event going on with a couple of friendly folks coming down to show the campers some crazy views beyond the naked eye. I was absolutely blown away by some of the neat views and educational hosts. I never thought I'd get to see Saturn while camping - it was a magical experience. The location of the campground couldn't have been better. Being so close to the river was a dream, and having a nearby market saved us when we realized we forgot a few essentials. Convenience at its finest! To sum it all up, this was hands down the best camping adventure I've ever had. Grant and Michelle's hospitality, the incredible amenities, the bear-defending heroics, perfect location, and pleasant surprises all combined to create an unforgettable experience. I'm already planning my next visit, and Kern's Edge campground will be my go-to choice. Huge thanks to the entire team for making this trip absolutely fantastic! 10 out of 10 will come back again.

This campground is well taken care of... The restrooms were really clean with soap, hand dryers, nice showers, and felt sanitary. The staff was friendly. Location is right on the river and close to the town. Also there is a nice general store on premises with snacks, supplies, beer, etc. Also, the campground features a shady grassy area with free cornhole, connect 4, volleyball and other activities. The "Lofty Oak" is a really cute campsite, but max size tent is going to be approximately 7x8 feet. It was perfect for one couple and a small tent!

KRE was a great find and recommendation from a co-worker! We stayed at their group Boulder Beach. The staff was very friendly, accommodating and helpful. They deliver ice to your campground if you need it! Bathrooms are clean and showers are great. They have a shaded grassy area to stay cool. The only recommendation is to have the string lights on at night in that area as they weren't turned on any night during our stay. The group site says 24 people but with cars, tents, and canopies you can comfortably fit 4-6 tens to leave space for walking and camp fire.

I have been camping on the Kern for over 20 years. This is the best campsite on the river. No competition! John and Rhonda and the best hosts and provide an amazing environment. If you are looking to chill for a few days on their site there is plenty to do. Lots of games, Volleyball court and full gym! Or if you want to use their campsite as a base to explore the surrounding area this is the place. John and Rhonda know the area very well and are a great resource if you are looking for hikes, bike rides, rafting or other things to do in the area. The sites are very clean as are the showers and bathrooms. The fees are a little higher than state campgrounds but well worth it. Spend the extra few bucks and stay here!

This was our first time staying at this camp ground, let alone experiencing the Kern River. We had a blast to say the least! Grant was amazing, our trailer hose and power cable wouldn’t reach and they were quick to help us out. Super attentive to our needs & you don’t get that too often! Keep up the good work! We hope to be back next year!

We had a group of over 100 campers stay for a 4 day weekend and the whole team at KRE absolutely could not have been better! Bathroom facilities - impeccably clean! Outdoor activities - you can pretty much name it and they can find a way to make it happen! We had 60+ kids in our group and they took to the outdoor volleyball court the most. Very close to Kernville and the large rafting outfitters, they have done so much to bring this back from the flood due to record water levels earlier this year. Grant was an absolute pleasure to have be our on-site host and the owners were incredibly gracious with our various requests! Highest recommendation and we will definitely be back!

A really great camping site. Close to the river, fresh water showers and bathrooms. We stayed in Lofty Oaks. Elevated platform, water at entrance to rinse shoes/feet, and electrical outlets for charging/powering devices. There are horseshoe pits, Giant Jenga, balls and frisbees available for play time. Grant, Michelle and Tristan are very welcoming and keep the grounds neat and tidy which makes for happy campers. Truly can't say enough about their dedication to the campground and its visitors. Will definitely book at Kern River's Edge Retreat the next time I visit Kernville area.

I have been to the Kern River's Edge campground multiple times and the quality of facilities and staff never fail. The campground is located right on the river with impeccable bathrooms, large clean campsites, volley ball court, great mix of shade and sun. Owners John and Rhonda and camp hosts Grant and Michelle are super friendly, accommodating, always very welcoming. We will certainly be back in small and large groups as this campground and staff never seize to amaze!

I'm am extremely upset! I went camping with my family for labor day weekend we initially paid 1,300 dollars to reserve and 2 days later I got charged an additional 300 dollars??? Without any reason, phone call, or warning about this charge. We left the camping sites cleaner than they first were when we arrived. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If I were you I would not trust these people with credit card information!!!!

It had been many years since I had visited. It's a huge difference. The campground is looking great. A lot of work has been put in. It's a great place to take family. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Grant really went above and beyond to make sure we had a great camping experience.I would highly recommend this place to family and friends. I will definitely be back.

We come here fairly often with family to experience family gatherings and campouts. The Kern River is Stunning and Powerful. They offer many different types of water activities and has the best Host by the name of Grant. Grant was so sweet, caring, and kind. I loved that he drove around in his cute golf cart and made sure everyone had what they needed and doing okay. I appreciated that and it gave a sense of safety. We stayed for 3 days 2 nights. The weather was amazing with cloudy but cool warm weather, at one point it lightly rained and thundered but was so worth every second to experience the climate. I did get eaten up by massive mosquitos despite the large amounts of insect sprays, creams, and citronella candles. The children made friends and splished splashed joyfully in the ice cold river. Kern Rivers's Edge Campground Retreat is worth the drive, and experience. They are also located by a cute vintage town that can be spent exploring and trying the different treats. Bring lots of sunscreen and bug spray, oh and WATER! Pet friendly as well.

I recently had to cancel a trip due to an unexpected illness in the family. Unfortunately, when it came time to reschedule the trip, the company provided poor service and refused to work with me to find another date that would work. I was left frustrated with the lack of options and disappointed with the overall experience. It's disappointing when a company fails to provide good customer service, especially when the circumstances are beyond the customer's control. Overall, my review of this company is based on their poor service and unwillingness to help make things right.

I grew up here and never knew about this FAMILY OWNED AND OPERATED MUST SEE hidden gem till I moved home this summer.Horseshoes, frisbee golf, hot showers! Yes, please.Pleasantly surprised to know I now have a place to recommend my "newer to camping folks" , the borderline "glampers" (firewood, ice, beer delivered to site) or long time campers looking for a new experience where everyone can trust that even if they are inexperienced, either the owners or the on site Camp Host, Curtis, will gladly be your CAMP CONCIERGE and guide you through anything that comes up when needed. At Kern River's Edge you can trust you'll have a clean site, clean river front access, and peace when around the campfire at night for optimal storytelling and stargazing. While on the hunt for a summer gig that put me next to a campfire as much as possible, this camp became the winner. So yes, I work here, but the owners, Rhonda & John (Johndra as nobody calls them) are unaware of me writing this. (And that we call them Johndra).Because of a company name change they are rebuilding their campground brand from the ground up and thus rebuilding 34 years of ratings and reviews so I figured I'd get the ball rolling as this feedback is authentic and I'm only a part time weekend minimum wage employee who is really just doing it cause it's fun. They have placed many boundaries on their camp, including quiet hours, education on "leave no trace", and are glass free, (aka you and your kids can walk around barefoot). At first these seemed too much these rules, what am I at camp?! Yes, turns out.Now that I've seen it for a few months I get that this is what people come for, a place where your entire experience has been thought out from the time you land till the time you leave with the goal of helping people connect with nature and each other, this is a camp ripe for the making of Family Memories that you want to pass on from generation to generation. With only 6 employees and 3 of them being in the same family, if you are looking for a more personalized camping experience that's focused on connecting with nature first, this is your new go to spot.Get it before it blows up. While nearby camps have over 400 sites, Kern River's Edge floats happy with 40.See you here.-Andie, Camp ConciergeP.S. they have an incredible outdoor venue that I'd love to see used more. Moving forward they are open to a lot more things, contact KRE with all your outdoor connection needs/desires now!

We just spent three days there after many years of not visiting and I can say the location and service is great. The new additions like games for kids, up keep of the grass area, showers by the entrance are all amenities that enhance the experience.Nearby activities: Rafting, rock climbing, volleyball court.

I’ve camped a lot, and this is the nicest campground I’ve ever been to. It’s right on the edge of the Kern River, the bathrooms are clean, the showers are great, and the hosts are top notch. The hosts really set the tone for our whole experience. They are a young couple, who are extremely welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We arrived on a Thursday with a group of 3 adults and 9 youth, and everyone loved the place. There are tons of things for young people to do, right in camp. By Friday afternoon, weekend campers were pouring in and we were a little nervous, not knowing what the crowd would be like. But the camp seems to draw a pretty nice kind of people. Many were loud and enthusiastic but friendly and polite. The loud talking and loud music all stopped pretty close to quiet time at 10pm like it was supposed to. I loved this place. I’ll definitely come visit again.
