My family had a fantastic long weekend at this beautiful, private June Lake chalet. It has plenty of room with a terrific floor plan, modern upgrades, and thoughtful touches throughout, including some lovely Native American art. We especially enjoyed the huge, comfortable beds and living room with fireplace, large bar area, and high ceilings. The dining room has a gorgeous and very large natural wooden dining table. The big master bedroom has a modern tub/spa that is fully programmable. The two other bedrooms could pass for master bedrooms at most places. The entire chalet is heated by an innovative geothermal power system, which is a sustainable and practical alternative to fossil fuel. Outside are views of lovely streams and nearby mountains. We enjoyed June Lake's restaurants, particularly the Carson Peak Inn, which is a one-minute walk across the street. The chalet has been owned by the same family since the 1960s, and they take obvious pride in its maintenance and the satisfaction of their guests. In my opinion, this is a unique, beautiful and fun place to stay, far preferable to a hotel or lodge for a very competitive price. June Lake itself is in a great location, with Yosemite and Mammoth both within reach. June Mountain has a family friendly ski resort of its own. Mammoth, about 30 minutes away, is one of our family's favorite places in California. Besides great activities for all ages, the new Village shopping/dining area is superb. Overall, we would give this cabin our highest recommendation and hope to be back!

We love the Eastern Sierras and the Sierra Vista Chalet is the perfect home away from home. The June Lake loop is a sweet spot - a place to get away from the crowds and enjoy the natural beauty of the Sierras. We spent our days hiking to the local alpine lakes (most of which are a short drive away). And there are plenty of options beyond hiking - the local lakes offer kayak rentals, fishing etc and there is a great spa/restaurant a few minutes away at the Double Eagle Resort. The house itself is super comfortable - you have views of the local peak from one bedroom and the sounds of the creek from the other bedroom. And our evenings were spent cooking great meals, watching movies in the "great room" or hanging out by the great-big fireplace. If you come during winter, you will find the most incredible powder / back country ski conditions right next to you at June Mountain.

I have stayed at the Sierra Vista Chalet multiple times in the last 4 years. It's access to phenomenal climbing, hiking, fishing, and snow sports has made it my favorite place to stay in the Eastern Sierras. The cabin is amazing and spacious and allows you to relax after a fun day of outdoor activities. The hot tub is an added bonus to an already beautiful and relaxing environment. I highly recommend the Chalet to anyone who wants to stay at a tranquil and relaxing cabin nestled into one of the most beautiful places on earth!

Spent weekends at Sierra Vista Chalet in both the winter and early fall and both stays were fantastic. With snow, we had access via the Mammoth shuttle to Mammoth's epic slopes -- but without the hassle of having to drive or deal with the Mammoth scene. During the summer and fall, we got to hike in the majestic eastern Sierra knowing there was an outdoor hot tub, full kitchen, hot baths, and clean bed waiting for us. (And one particularly memorable hike started from a trail head within walking distance of the chalet!) Each room had phenomenal views and ample space. What a treat. I want to go back...

Beautiful scenery, lovely home, inviting bedrooms, relaxing outdoor hot tub! What more could we ask of a getaway vacation? This was a perfect trip with friends. The chalet is large, so we all had plenty of room to spread out. We used the family room for morning coffee, the dining room for meals, the den for game playing, and the hot tub and deck for the ultimate relaxing experience. The chalet is within driving distance to Bodie Ghost Town and Mono Lake, if one should feel the need to drive somewhere. We spent a day fishing a June Lake; took a nice hike up to Parker Lake, too. I highly recommend this chalet to anyone who wants to getaway and experience a less-traveled part of beautiful Yosemite.

The Chalet was straight out of MTV's cribs in the luxury it provided. Very spacious with all the amenities you could want and more. Especially great for anyone who wants to relax at home after a great day in the outdoors. Location is perfect as it is one mile from the June Lake Ski area, two miles from town, and near many great trails. You will not be disappointed.

Stayed at the Chalet last September. Made the short trip to Yosemite for an all day climb. It was the perfect spot to come back to after a long day in the backwoods and have a beer with some friends by the fire. Very spacious, cozy rooms, jacuzzi, fireplace and wood stove, beautiful views of the eastern Sierra landscape. Large dining room and kitchen. It would be a great place to have a getaway with a group of friends and family any time of the year. Looking forward to coming back during a winter to do some skiing at Mammoth or June when the mountain reopens!

I recently stayed at Sierra Vista Chalet with some friends while skiing at Mammoth. Wow, what a wonderful home! It had plenty of room for the 6 of us. This place is huge.Very clean and comfortable, the furniture is high quality and in great condition. Everyone commented on their comfortable beds, which is real challenge to find when renting. This is an authentic log cabin, yet with all the modern conveniences including WiFi.And it has an outdoor jacuzzi big enough for 8. Sit in there looking at the stars through the Aspen trees and you just don't want to get out. More wine!We also enjoyed having a big kitchen and staying in for meals.Getting away from the hustle of Mammoth was nice. June Mountain is so serene, but with some restaurants, a great coffee shop, and a good ski shop. We're planning on going back this summer with extended family for some fishing, hiking, and visits to Yosemite.Owners were professional and courteous.

First trip July of 2010. Thank you Bob and Nadia for a fantastic turn key vacation at Sierra Vista Chalet. My kids are still talking about it. We fished, hiked, rented a kayak, soaked in the jacuzzi, read some books, enjoyed the fresh air and relaxed. Best part of it was spending quality family time together in the cabin. We absolutely loved it! We are looking forward to the next trip. My son especially liked the climbing wall in the garage and my daughter was amazed by the owl and deer in the yard. Thanks again for a fantastic time.Lonnie Reynolds and the Reynolds FamilySecond Trip Sept. of 2011. My family and I recently stayed a week in June Lake at this fantastic cabin. It was clean, had all of the amenities a family of four could ask for and was close to everything that we wanted to see and do. I have a teenage son and a daughter so every day required an activity. We went in September and were able to fish and swim in the lakes that were close by. We also went canoeing and hiked around the local lakes that were within walking distance from the cabin. My son caught many fish and this was his first time fishing. We were able to swim in the lake since the weather was beautiful. No chains were required and the roads are maintained and cleared year round. We also went on some short hikes and were able to see a fantastic waterfall. Wildlife is everywhere. We saw birds, squirrels, deer, a skunk and a badger. Mammoth is only a short drive away and we enjoyed riding bikes down the ski trails and enjoyed the views from the ski lift. We also hiked to a close by hot spring and enjoyed 2 days in Yosemite National Park which is a short drive away. We were able to enjoy Yosemite by day and return to the cabin every night. This was especially nice since every camping spot in Yosemite was booked. I was surprised how close Yosemite and Mammoth were to the cabin. Less than 6 miles as the crow flies! As for the cabin itself, I would hardly call it a cabin. It was huge and had a flat screen tv, huge rooms with views, full kitchen with all utensils and it was warm, clean and beautiful. My kids especially enjoyed the outdoor hot tub while looking up at the stars at night and my wife loved the master suite which had a jacuzzi tub in the room. We still talk about it and look forward to our next visit.

When I wake up in the morning to awe-inspiring mountain views, I can’t help but love my life!I’ve visited “the chalet” twice in the last year, in the summer and in the winter. My friends went out for some of the area’s more adventurous sports. My toddler & I enjoyed nature at the cabin’s door. There was plenty around the chalet or within a short drive to keep her happily occupied. In the summer we skipped rocks on the lake, waded in the water, and walked through alpine meadows. In winter we made snowmen and sledded in the backyard. Everyday she came in happy and exhausted. In the evenings, we all sat around the massive table, passing dishes and bottles of wine and making jokes about who would be the first one in the hot tub.For those who make their vacations about enjoying nature, friends and family (and hot tubing!), the chalet is the perfect place for you.

I stayed at this beautiful log home with friends for a long weekend of hiking, biking and relaxing and came back to the city feeling energized and refreshed. June Lake provided a great jumping off point for exploring Yosemite and Mammoth, without all of the hustle and bustle of either. The house is nicely located with hiking to alpine lakes or biking the June Lake Loop right outside your door. The house is gorgeous. From the spacious kitchen to the amazing master bedroom with jacuzzi tub we could not have been happier. Even the outdoor hot tub shows lovely craftsmenship. Kudos to the owners Nadia and Rober for creating such an elegant yet homey oasis in the mountains.

We stayed there for a week last summer with friends... It was pure happiness. Everything you need for great vacation can be found around (lakes, hikes, climbing, swimming, fishing, ...) and in the house (large rooms, spa like bathroom, jacuzzi, TV, internet,...). It's 20 minutes drive to the entrance of Yosemite park, 10 minutes from Mono lake, and half an hour from mammouth... to much things to do.We met the great owners too, young and dynamic !We would have loved to try the Chalet during ski season... but we had other plan this year.Long story short... highly recommended !

So when Im in the June/Mammoth area there is only one choice. There is the Sierra Vista Chalet... then every thing else. Its hard to believe that a "log cabin" could be so incredible! It really is built from logs, but the recent remodeling is a testament to fine craftsmanship. This property has something for everyone. The Double Eagle Spa is walking distance down the road. Amazing hiking right out the back door can lead you to the trailhead of Fern Lake (one of my favorite spots). Your choice of two awesome ski areas less than a hour away. Five minutes away if you decide to stay in June. TONS of fishing! One summer my son and I had the time of our lives when we discovered the rope swing at one of the four near by lakes. Or if your not the outdoorsy type, its set up perfectly for making laps from the bar to the deck to the enormous hot tub. The Sierra Vista Chalet is so much more than just a place to stay... thats why I keep returning. It is a place that I have shared real life moments with the ones I love that I wont ever forget. The staff is with out a doubt the best; made every stay the very best it could possibly be. I can't wait to go back again.

Incredible home - every bedroom feels like a master bedroom! Everything is immaculately furnished, and the yard is very well maintained and landscaped. Location is right in the center of everything. Everything is baby and young-child friendly, so you don't have to worry about your kids hurting themselves. It was so relaxing and fun! We literally played in the warm water at June Lake Beach and built a snowman in Mammoth in the same day. There is so much to do, and proximity to June Lake, Mammoth, and Yosemite make this a winner. Highly recommended for a family vacation!

I've stayed in this lodge a few times - twice I went up for a week or two and had THE BEST skiing conditions I've ever experienced - absolutely sensational. Despite this, we loved the lodge so much that even despite there being 2 foot of fresh powder one morning, we decided just to chill and enjoy the place. What a spot. I've also visited once in summer and done some hikes in the region - this place is amazing year-round. I can't recommend it highly enough.

The Sierra Vista Chalet is really a modern mansion in the guise of a cabin. We have used The Chalet, for the last six years as home base for ski trips and ice climbing in the winter, back packing into the John Miur wilderness in the summer, as well as base camp for climbing in Tuolumne / Yosemite in the spring and fall. You cannot beat the location if you are into outdoor adventure, but like to end the day in a hot tub (with an insane view of snow capped Carson peak) with modern, luxury accommodations. Hands down the best “cabin” I’ve ever stayed at.

We loved our visit to the "chalet". The house is amazing and is set in the perfect back drop of June Lake. The property has been restored with amazing attention to detail, from the built in cabinetry (made with local wood) to the in ground hand tiled hot tub. Other highlights are the dining room with the ginormous table that can fit your entire party (no matter how big), the amazing game room and of course and all the other little nooks of this beautifully and lovingly restored log castle. Also make sure you check out the tiger bar. The fish tacos were delicious!

This was my first vacation staying in June Lake (a full week in August) so my observations are based on comparing to the vacation rentals we have had in Mammoth Lakes. As a party of seven, the cabin was comfortable and had ample room for everyone to get together, or have some quiet time. Our stay (including the cleaning fee, taxes, service fee and an additional $118 per night for the 6th and 7th guest) totaled $685 per night. The cabin is large (3,900 square feet), is in a classic wooded setting with running streams, beautifully appointed throughout with American Indian décor, exposed wood, and plush carpet in the living areas. The overall feel is that you are in a home that has been enjoyed by a family for generations. The rooms in the main cabin areas are palatial. The main entry and the bedrooms in particular have great views and natural light and every room was immaculately clean. Any time we had questions the Property Manager (Robert) was easy to reach and quick to resolve.A few things we would pass on from our experience, you need to start heating the outdoor tub at least five hours in advance. There is an entertainment center with DVD but If you are a sports fan or have a favorite show you are waiting for be aware there is no satellite or cable (the internet is robust so if it is streaming you can watch on your computer). Also be aware you can easily lock yourself out if the side door (where the lock box is) closes behind you and the key is in the house. Same applies for the garage door to the laundry area. I would suggest keeping a key in the lock box at all times ;-) All of the drink ware is glass so if you have kids you might want to bring your own plastic drink ware. We also had an unexpected half day of no electricity due to a scheduled power outage but Robert was apologetic and made allowance for the inconvenience. What would have made our stay stellar would have been having all working screens on the patio doors, screens and working mechanisms on all the windows, laundry soap in the garage, hand soap in the kitchen, and a small compliment of foil, plastic wrap, and basic cooking necessities (salt/pepper/oil/sugar). It would be nice to have small lotions/shampoos in the bathrooms (it’s what makes it say vacation in my book!) and more pillows on the beds (pillows=luxury). We had an enjoyable stay despite some of the details, which were minor and I only included in the review because it would elevate the chalet from great to superb. I would recommend this rental, particularly for a family, our kids loved playing on the lawn and wading in the stream, swinging in the hammock, and so much more. Best wishes and safe travels!

My family and I wanted a break from our end-of-winter Bay Area routine. We did a bit of internet research and discovered the Sierra Vista Chalet. It was the perfect private space for the quality time we needed to reconnect. With two boys and an active home-life, this was the perfect get-away from the city. The chance for long walks, a bit of skiing, and even making meals together in the chalet's huge kitchen was both relaxing and great fun. I didn't know my sons could cook! The best part was sleeping in late and waking to the sights of snow-capped peaks all around, towering above--the scene is hard to put in words. We needed something organized, new, relaxing and ready to plug-and-play. SVC gets two thumbs up!

The chalet has been a spot we have vacationed at the past two summers both in July and in September. The location is idyllic and the Chalet is luxurious, voluminous, and replete with stellar views of Carson Peak, some larger peaks to the North, and the beautiful creeks running through the property's aspen and spruce trees. For a family that loves, to fish, hike, kayak the spot is Shangri La.There are great hikes everywhere in the June Lake Loop, not to mention its surrounds (Ansel Adams, Yosemite, Mammoth Lakes, Hot Creek, etc.) In fact there are great walks right out the back door both easy and strenuous. After the walks the hot tub or big bathtubs and walk in showers are awesome. Fishing on the Gull, Grant, Silver and June Lakes can be epic. Either plunking bait or spinning panther martins with the little ones, throwing streamers for lunker browns in Grant, dragging Rapalas in June, or teaching kids to make there first casts to the planted bows in Rush creek the loops fishing opportunities offer something for any angler. Obviously, my family likes to fish and we have done a little of everything from float tubes and kayaks to creek wading and shoreline beach chair fishing. We have had fine days in the dog days of summer on Rush and some exciting fishing in September for larger models with mixed weather conditions in the lakes and creek mouths. I have heard there are a few nice alpine lakes with brookies right out the back door, but we haven't ventured up with the lakes and Rush creek right out the front door. All the spots mentioned above are within seven minutes car time of the Chalet and if you want the local up to date lake information, stop by Ernies for the latest. Over the years I have been in June every month and have had some of my best fishing days in the late spring and early fall. The chalet regularly has big mule deer and other wildlife browsing on the property. The amenities are superlative from the kitchen to the beds and bathrooms. If a family fishing hiking vacation in a log mountain mansion sounds like the ticket, give Yosemite Gateway Chalet a try.

Incredible cabin! There we (my husband and I) found everything we needed and everything we thought we deserved for a perfect holiday: it's cozy, roomy, beautiful and very comfortable. We stayed there for a weekend and we particularly enjoyed hiking, breathing fresh air and drinking fantastic tea at the Trout Town Joe. Just a pity we live in Europe and we cannot go there at least once a month!

We had a wonderful 3 night stay here. The cabin is beautiful and spacious. The property has 2 creeks surrounding it. We even had a family of deer pay us a visit. My only complaint is that the dvd player wasn't working but who needs to watch dvds when in nature right? Definitely recommended!

Wow!We just had an Epic Adventure, right outside the back door of this Amazing Super-cabin!As an avid runner and naturalist,I like to put in a half-marithon before breakfast, and I was always extremely pleased with the beautiful, mountainous stretches of open running terrain,no matter which direction I headed out to.When I got back,my family loved making big breakfasts in the fully featured, gourmet kitchen / dining lounge. In the afternoon, after writing some world-class essays on life,in the ever-inspiring wilderness,I enjoyed soaking it up in the outdoor hot-tub,with my favourite beverage (beer!).At night, the stars filled the sky!You can bet,we were back at the hot-tub!When we weren't at the hot-tub,or the bar (forgot to mention that, big bar and hearth (way bigger than a fireplace),friends are going to love it),we hit the many hot springs in the area, and met fun locals and passers-through.See you next year!Love,Friends of the Cabin

Nestled in the mountain range that so enchanted John Muir, Gary Snyder, and countless other naturalists and poets, this spacious and sumptuous chalet is ideal for those seeking outdoor adventure or even just a quiet place to contemplate life or dig into a good book. There is no better place to enjoy the company of loved ones, reconnect with nature, and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
