We came here because it allows the foraging of mushrooms. We were hoping to find some Blewits. However an hour into our search, we found some hedgehog mushrooms. After a while we decided to just go to the cliffs to enjoy our stay. The view is the quintessential beautiful California seaside, sculptural rocks and wild, majestic waves. A nice way to spend a day after the rains.

Always a stunning time to visit. Mushrooms in the forest aplenty, and lots of fun little critters in the tide pools. Try to go during low tide!!I saw some people taking mussels, so keep in mind that NO marine take is allowed, except for abalone (although banned until at least 2026) and finfish in certain areas. Basically just don’t disturb the wildlife please!

We were there for a day hike and it's just beautiful 😻 There are campgrounds and hotels nearby, but public access bathrooms are not conveniently available in the park. We stopped at a preserve about 20 minutes before arriving at the trail.

Have been going here off and on for about 12 years now. Gerstle Cove is very scenic, nice walking trails and a good place to see birds and seals.

An incredible view along the Northern California coast. We were lucky to visit Salt Point when the sun was slightly setting, there were no clouds in the sky, and it was a comfortable 68 degrees. It was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen. If you want to have a similar experience try visiting between September and October, that is when the conditions are best on the Northern California coast.

Absolutely beautiful campground surrounded by lush and dense green undergrowth and tall pines. The cool ocean air coming up over the cliffs across the highway from the entrance help keep the temps perfect. Campsites are roomy and restrooms within an easy walk from most sites. No pull through sites, but back ins are plentiful. Each site has fire pits and picnic benches. Recommend reservations during the summers and on weekends.

One of my favorite state parks and one of the quietest, in my humble opinion. The Gerstle campground is my favorite place to stay, but the Woodside campground is great too. The trail system is pretty well connected, but I recommend being a map or having the OnX app. It’s out of the way to get here, but totally worth it for a day hike or a camping trip.

What a fantastic place!! Lots of opportunity to study the geology of this area while enjoying vast vistas of the Pacific and the sound of waves crushing on the shore. Lots of bird sightings as well - kites, hawks, herons as well as bluebirds. The only thing I missed are signs explaining the local geology. Maybe that is at the Visitor center where we didn't go to.

Beautiful views all throughout the park, clean trails which are mostly flat, beautiful rock formations. We saw birds, seals flowers all along the way. The color of water had a beautiful gradient from blue to green at different places.

Beautiful park with lots of corners to explore. Some nice benches and places to sit and marvel at nature. Good weather offers stunning views but I bet that bad weather might reveal another interesting side. Will come back for more.

Hello... welcome to Salt Point State Park.A little over 3 miles in and out RT from the parking.Easy hike, hug the coastline is the best. ( fun to walk around and check out the cliffs). It’s feeding your ears and your eyes. This is outstanding place and it’s kind of mix between the rocks and the water. You can see the structure of the sandstones are very different in here. (Honeycomb pattern).About 1.5 miles hiking in, you will see beauty arch rock or stand stone bridge.( fairly unique looking). When you are here, you can hear water hitting the rocks, with heavy... heavy pounding waves, it’s creating a thunder sound like song.Amazing, spectacular, breathtaking, incredible view of the ocean and a lot of wildflowers. This is the GIFT from Mother Nature.I will come back here again and again.Add this place on your list plssssss.I had been here once.I came back to this park again on (July/2/20).I did not have to pay for parking ticket.I was parking in the street and hiking down.I still remember my first time there, and it happened again, I could not stopped hopping around those sandstones with honeycomb pattern. My legs were dancing, my eyes were so curiously, and my mind can not stop to THANK to Mother Nature for special presents. It is the most spectacular view and memorable place. The little sandstone bridge is fun for everyone to walk back and forth, for free hands rock climbing, and It’s also majestic piece for photography. It was so relaxing and peaceful for me, since there wasn’t enough hikers here today.I definitely will come back to this place again.

Wonderful campground and Park! Very much enjoyed our weekend stay. Overcast, cool and fires weren’t allowed. Had a beautiful site then quickly realized we had been surrounded by super loud, inconsiderate, families; toddlers were screaming, soccer against dumpster,baseball-playing ten year olds - awesomely the camp hosts allowed us to move sites due to the neighbors. Peace was found!Bathrooms were all clean. Minimal supplies. No hot water, soap, seat covers, nor towels but flush toilets and tp. Furniture was all pretty worn wood picnic tables and cabinets but not bad.Trails were all nice and beach access was great.

Always great to spend a couple of nights at the coast. A quick drive from home. We love the overflow area at Gerstler Cove Campground. Great access to the trail to Stump Beach. Can be a bit windy, but the views are spectacular! Whale watching in the spring is a must!

Coastal park with maintained trails and interesting geography. Sandstone bluffs collect salt, which native people collected. Seems to be a point of underwater interest for divers. Colorful sea urchin remains on the rocks. Plentiful parking, campground, and cell tower on the ridge above.

Stopped in here to do some cycling. The trails were pretty well kept, the park ranger out front was super friendly to talk to you, and the facilities were nice and clean! Can't ask for much more!

So many miles of trails, we will be back! Hiked over to Phillip gulch to see the waterfall which was beautiful. We didn't realize we could have parked along the road and taken a nice easy flat path there. Instead we had parked at a lot and hiked down to the beach and then back up. It was a wonderful adventure. Many of the paths along the ocean cris cross, people have created additional trails, but I don't think you can get too lost as the ocean is on one side and the Coast Hwy on the other. Weather changes quickly. We were going to hike in the AM but it was totally fogged in. We hiked later in the day and it was clear.

This is along Highway 1 Northen California, near Jenner, CA.It is a good place for mushroom hunting, just off the freeway. The drawback is a lot of cars on the freeway, and it could be dangerous early the morning or late afternoon. It is hard to find a good place to park the car because narrowed shoulder and may not be legal.Picnic area: There is no picnic area nearby.

A beautiful treat for us driving the coast from Jenner to Stewart's Point. Salt Point Campgrounds were full as can be expected all summer. The lodges all look good!

Family friendly site with surprising number of opportunities to sight all kinds of shorebirds and deer. Bluffs here are prettier than Santat Cruz and many photographers at dusk for the animals. Also a first class dive site. Maps are confusing, some trails possibly unmarked but otherwise, we were very pleased with it.

I could spend days and days here! The beach is a hidden gem. Stump beach. And the headland walking path views are stunning. Even ocean fisherman and young people with backpack suitcases climbing around. What a visual feast!

It was so nice to get out of the smoke and see the ocean. We hiked down to Stump Beach, scrambled around rocks and felt the icy waters. We stayed for a couple of hours and enjoyed the day. Such a beautiful coast.

Free parking off Hwy 1. Lots of trails that lead to the coast then along coast line. There are not to many places to actually get to the water since the area is mostly cliffs. There are great veiws and a little history mixed in.

This place is amazing. It has rock (sandstone) formations like nothing I've ever seen on the coast. Great for hiking and exploring tidal pools.

Stayed a week in space 19. Nice spot, close to but not on top of the bathroom. Close to water. Clean campground with clean bathrooms. Must have a lock for your food locker box. The food lockers will not keep them out without a lock. The raccoons are persistent and quite invasive. They broke one of our coolers. Deer and Grey fox also run the campground.Past the campground is Gerstle Cove and the Visitors center. The visitors was closed for the season. Great tide pools, but you need to do a bit of scrambling on the rocks to get to them. My 4 year old granddaughter was able to climb around with minimal help.Fishing is permitted north and south of Gerstle Cove. Lots of hiking trails. Took the first trail from the campground to the beach. About .25 mi, nice and quiet. Herd of 5 or 6 deer ran across the trail right in front of me.Also took the Salt Point Trail to Stump Cove. About 1.2 mi right along the coast. Easy hike with tons of photo spots.

Lovely, lovely, lovely. This kind of state park is reason enough to move to California. Tide pools full of sea anemones, campgrounds full of eucalyptus trees, skies full of stars.
