It’s no wonder these people at Animal Control have a 2.6 rating. No, they don’t care. They’re lazy and won’t follow up on anything…minor or life threatening. I’ve called about dogs running wild, and one came up on my deck and tried to maul my cat. Thing is, my cat is pretty fiesty, and stood her ground until I could get out the door and scare it away.This AC (Sonora) is also a high kill facility. It’s noted for it. The animals aren’t advertised like the rescue centers. They just kill them.This is for Kelly Potter who posted a scolding to those posting negatively….uh, posting reviews good or bad alerts the public about what’s going on. Keep your scolding for your kids!

Got bit by a pit bull, animal control failed to follow through with quarantine, or if the dog was current on rabies shots. Now the health department says I need rabies shots. I called AC again about the status of the dog, rabies shots. She said I was being rude and hung up on me. Pretty crazy but trueFollow-up, after the Health Department got involved Animal control was able to contact the dog owner. I don't think they made much effort until the Health Department got involved. My 1 star review stands

To those who trash our Animal Control employees and complain about their hours and responses:The county is responsible for funding as well as grants and donations. Talk to the country supervisors and those who give out the grants if you expect them to be doing stake outs to catch barking dogs and stop trashing the few caring employees they do have.

They never pick up or return your calls. My fiance and I have been calling to report a dog barking constantly for the last two and a half weeks and we haven't heard from anyone nor will anyone pick up. It's ridiculous. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Came upon 3 dogs running into the road today. We called the owner to find out their phone was off, then decided to call sonora animal control expecting them to help. After taking the descriptions and numbers on the dog tags we were told that unless we could take the dogs with us that there was nothing they could do and we’d have to let them go due to the fact they had no room for strays available. was so shocked and disgusted by how little they seemed to care, about 3 loving dogs on a fast traffic road. will not be calling these people for help again.

After all the residents in the area have called the sheriff (deputies) The dog barking problem still exists. They tell you to call animal control. They don't work at night and don't answer their phone in the daytime. Worst service I've seen in Tuolumne county in 20 years that I've lived here. The sheriffs dept. wont even drive by to verify the barking. From 9:30 pm until 4-5:30 am. NICE JOB guys.

We adopted our cat from Animal Control several years ago, and it was a great experience. Aside from the fact that there wasn't a "quiet" place to sit or be alone with an animal to see if you're compatible with it, the staff was very accommodating, allowing my daughter and me to check out all of the cats. The adoption itself was an easy process. I've also donated towels to Animal Control and they were appreciative.

I called animal control because I had a dead rotted skunk under my house. I asked if they could take it and test it because the skunk population is dying and one has tested positive for rabies. I told them my concerns, and they said there's no need to check it out... they absolutely do not care.There's also never anyone "available" to do anything....ever
