We have now adopted our 3rd rescue dog from the Humane Society of Tuolumne County. They do a wonderful job of placing their rescues. Our newest is a wonderfully affectionate boy, that is going to make a great hiking buddy.

By far the best run shelter. They truly care about each and every animal that comes into the facility. The place is spotless and the employees are very kind and helpful. Please consider donating. πŸ˜»πŸ•

This was the best experience we have ever had. Harley, now Hetch, loves his new home and we are over the moon in love with him already. He is super playful and Hella smart. Potty trained at 4 months, knows so many words and actions, and very eager to learn. The staff here was AMAZING! I was determined to leave with him and they allowed it to happen. He's my best friend and such a great addition to our family.

Staff was friendly & helpful.Went with my son to look @ small dogs under 20lbs.He Found one he liked, but unfortunately, if you live in Quail Hallow, Jamestown Humane Society feels the apartments are too small & wont let people adopt a dog.Everyone has right to their opinions, but I feel the apartments are being judged instead of the people who want to adopt & give the dog a good home.It would be helpful if the Jamestown Humane Society would post the "places" they don't wish to adopt too. These cat pics are of Salvador is was adopted from the Jamestown Humane Society in 2006. (His bday was 2002) He's now 15years old.

I found my new dog (Oreo 2 - now Max) here. I live in Stockton and thought the personnel friendly and helpful both on the phone and during my visits. The shelter was very clean and the animals well taken care of. I appreciate that they are careful before adopting pets. They checked my references, home and yard before agreeing to let me adopt. My new dog is perfect and is now in his forever home. Thank you to the Humane Society of Tuolumne County and their personnel.

We adopted cricket, a little Yorkie girl. She is a delight and Jackie was wonderful and especially helpful. We had a wonderful experience with our adoption. It's good to adopt and give an animal a forever home. That's what cricket will have with us.

Wonderful place to get your next pet. Save a dog or a cat. Too much breeding going on.

My mom went in to adopt a kitten, and right away was attacked with some very shady questions regarding our previous animals and their past vet care. In the approval process, they only called one of our past vets and only used information about our cat that passed away in a tragic accident last year and a dog which is no longer in my mom's care. She was denied because the dog had not been seen by a vet in a year and there was no record of our cat being vaccinated in the last year. She told them that the dog was under my ownership and had been vaccinated by another vet, providing them with additional information, and they said that he was "not in their records". Then, when they questioned her about our cat who had not been seen by the vet in a year, she explained that he had passed away unfortunately, they began to question her, implying that she somehow mistreated and abused the cat, causing his death. This topic is still very upsetting for all of us, and to be interrogated and blamed like we were is truly unacceptable. They blamed all of their absurd questions on some "new application system" to ensure that their animals went to good homes, yet they didn't even bother to check to see how the cat interacted with us or get to know us as a family. Here we were, a family trying to give a loving home to an animal in need, but we left feeling guilty for things we did not do and wondering where this kitten we loved would end up living. If the shelter continues to conduct insufficient background checks, all the animals will spend the remainder of their lives there, as nobody will ever be sufficient to take one of them to a loving home. In summary, I am quite disappointed with my family's experience with this shelter, and would not recommend them to anyone. How dare they accuse my mother of being involved in the passing of our cat? This shelter has single-handedly driven my away from the "adopt don't shop" mentality and will do so for anyone who walks through the door wanting to do the right thing.

Do Not Adopt From Here! These people are not about the animals here. It's really sad. Before going here, I had heard horrible things about them, like staff laughing at potential adopters, staff members keeping dogs just for the funding, and that the adoption process is unrealistically selective. Don't put down a deposit; they will not adopt to you if you do put a hold on a dog or cat. You're better off going to shelter that provides a more positive experience, so it doesn't deter you from adopting. My cousin volunteered here and she said that the people are ridiculous. There would be people coming in to adopt and they will say anything to get them not to adopt. Despite this, when people do put down the deposit, they won't qualify them for the animal. The people here will take the money and still deny them. The guy I talked to, Mike, kept pulling reason after reason after reason why they didn't approve me after I kept coming back at him with their own adoption policies. They are just not about getting the animals good homes. Really sad.

I actually was at animal control. Caught a cat and was told they don't take cats, but told them this one is sick and they said bring it down. Guess they don't have someone to come pick up. Got there and had to wait for some to clean a cage for it and then after they took the animal (about a half hour Has gone by) I had to fill out paperwork. Not my animal but had to use my name. I should have gotten paperwork when I walked in.

I have 152 acres of land. So, no my "yard" isn't fenced in. The whole property is but not the house. Also, because i'm an undergrad I cant adopt a dog? Ridiculous qualifications. My aunt in law volunteered here when she visited from out of state. She wanted to adopted a dog because she fell in love with it. And when asked if she had a fenced in yard she said yes (because she does) and that she would prove it by showing a satellite image of her house (across the country) because they could do a home visit. They declined her adoption because they couldn't see the property in person. Aren't you suppose to be trying to adopted animals out to their forever home? Because it seems like its harder to adopt an pet then getting accepted to a prestigious college. BTW I ended up adopting a puppy. Just not from this group.

Good caring people, clean place, animals where very happy, but of course wanted to be in a family. I adopted my Belle, a little rat terrier 2 1/2 years ago during the Butte fire in Calaveras. I was evacuated from my house and found Belle. She is one of the best things ever in my life. Thankyou again for giving me the apportunity to be her Dad.

They do great work. We ended up adopting a dog from Animal Control next door because they are a kill shelter. I believe in the Humane Society's mission.

Under staffed and is a kill shelter. By means of shipping excess pets to be put down and cremated. Don't have fluffy cremated here, staff has told me and my daughter they have such a turn over there is no time to clean out the crematorium.
