Motel?? This is way better. It's more like an inn. It is very peaceful and the surroundings are beautiful. The rooms look out toward Tomales Bay. There is a large common room with books, games, fireplace, comfy furniture, and a deck with patio furniture. There is a kitchenette with mini frig, ice machine, tea, and coffee. Rooms are small but comfortable; beds are comfy. The managers of this property are helpful and friendly. This was an anniversary getaway for us and I have to say, this was an excellent place to stay.

The best Motel ever stayed. This Motel is beyond what is imagined when heard and book a place called Motel. This motel has luxury, vintage homey vibes with warm cozy blanket, clean room, modern sink n has everything you need in the room. The lobby has puzzle, billiards game to play, snack, coffee and tea to enjoy, outside lobby has a sitting patio to relax n enjoy bird watching. Stayed for 2 nights and a best location to stay to visit Point Reyes Lighthouse and Cypress tree tunnel, also near to point Reyes station to walk around for restaurant and stores. Definitely will stay again when visiting Point Reyes Lighthouse.

Extra cozy spot to relax, chat, think, and read. Well appointed with shampoo, body wash, lotion and the best cozy comfy linens. We spent a lot of time chatting and browsing in the Lodge, the main guest house for all to share, which was empty most of our time there. It has lots of interesting books and things to look at. Coffee and a bite to eat can be found also. Lovely to sit near the window and watch the birds, warmed by a lap blanket. Not a place meant for kids; its that quiet, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Off the beaten path, so unlikely ride sharing cars are available. Highly recommend. We'd love to return!

My husband and I were headed south along the PCH and I wanted to make Point Reyes/Inverness our starting point. I am so glad I found Motel Inverness! Mara and Todd were the sweetest, our room was so clean and cute, and the views were the absolute best. The location is perfect too for sightseeing (being right on Sir Francis Drake Blvd); the Cypress Tree Tunnel, Chimney Rock Trail and Point Reyes Lighthouse are all within a 30 minute drive. Honestly, I could've stayed all weekend - we will definitely be back.Thank you for a great stay :)

Our stay at Motel Inverness was wonderful and we plan to return. Our room was pristine and lovely – soft colors, high quality linens, and super comfy bed. Situated on Tomales Bay, the surroundings are beautiful. We were content to hang out on the big deck looking out at the water and birds with coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening. The spacious common room with its large fireplace and big comfortable couches was also a great place to relax and unwind. The motel is close to beaches, parks, Point Reyes Station, the lighthouse, and some top quality, fun restaurants. The innkeepers, Mara and Todd, are exceptional – they are very knowledgeable about the area. Also, they truly care about the comfort of their guests and treat people with kindness and respect. This is a perfect place for a quiet, peaceful getaway.

We have stayed at Motel Inverness several times and have always enjoyed the quite and beautiful views of Tomales Bay. Mara, the innkeeper, is so friendly and warm. The main lodge is cozy and inviting, with hot coffee and tea. Often a nice bottle of wine is open for the guests to enjoy. On our last stay we met several other guests while sitting in the lodge. We chatted and shared our days adventur. A very low key place to relax and contemplate the beauty of Pt. Reyes. We look forward to our next stay.

I love the Pt. Reyes National Shoreline, and have been hiking along the beaches there for many years. However, as my mother has been getting older, and more sedentary, she prefers sitting on a porch - either watching birds in the marsh or reading a good book.We found the innkeepers to be charming and helpful. Either by giving us space to be alone with each other, or in giving us excellent recommendations for places to go for nature drives and short walks, or where to eat dinner. In the evenings - there was a full stack of firewood that they had put out, and we could light a nice fire to enjoy with tea or a glass of wine. Other guests would talk with us or sit with their families playing board games and such.I am so excited to be going back - as my mother and I just booked another few days and we intend to get 2023 off to a good start. Bird watching on the bay, short strolls on the beach, maybe even catching sight of a Tule elk or two!

Second time staying here. The rooms are very clean, well maintained. Very close proximity to the Point Reyes Seashore, and all the trails. Room with your own private patio area is nice in the warmer months to sit out and enjoy Tomales Bay, plenty of bird watchind. Stayed in the room with a view (pic attached of the view). This room is a basic room, and small restroom. No fridge or microwave. The bed is queen size, and not ideal for anyone that's tall. If you're a light sleeper this is not the place for you. The walls are shared, and you can hear every conversation in adjoining rooms. Unfortunately, last night was no exception and the neighbor had the tv on until almost midnight, and only turned it off when they heard us get up and go outside with the intention of knocking on the door. Recommend IP Market nearby for breakfast burritos and sandwiches. Most places don't open early around here, and if you want an early start to hike...i'd recommend IP Market.

First off the room and hotel were nice and the man working at the front desk was very kind ..BUT the lady who also works there the “innkeeper” was so RUDE!! After we checked in and unpacked our stuff the lady comes knocking on our door and asks us to pretty much leave because we have kids and apparently the people in the room next door were on a romantic getaway and were more important then us?! Like the man at the front desk never said anything about no kids being there and after paying 240$ we had to leave ?! Absolutely never coming back there ..the lady was definitely a “Karen “ . Went to Tomales Bay instead and they were so sweet and kind and way better attitude. Anyway don’t go there if you have kids because they don’t like them

Great value for the location, close to all the trails and Point Reyes Station. The room is basic, but well maintained. I found that the room patio did not provide a lot of privacy from next room’s patio. Luckily, the lodge has amazing wetland views, which we got to enjoy sans other guests most days.

Great service and lodging. We had rooms #2 (with a kitchen) and #5 (no kitchen. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms, grounds and common areas were clean. The rooms were cute, with simple but elegant decorations. There was little noise from the road or neighbors. Both rooms had decks with views of the bay and hills. The kitchen was very good to have for breakfast & for one of our dinners. Hot water & heating of the air was not a problem. The common area of the motel was nice, and we had a meal there & hung out. They have information about the area, board games, pool, card games, tv (also in the rooms), and nice videos. The main deck in the back is a nice place to hang out. From here you can conveniently get to anything in the Point Reyes area.

We stayed at Motel Inverness in the Lodge room. The motel is very well located, very close to all Point Reyes trails. The room itself is basic and small but you have access to a common living area with a fireplace and a pool table, and a big patio with an amazing view on the wetland — perfect setup for an early (or late) breakfast. The motel, while on Francis Drake, is quiet (you may need to remind your neighbors that the walls are very thin though).

Great, cute place. Big common room with a fireplace, kitchenette, pool table, couches, views and games. Updated, clean rooms, with nice bedding and pillows.Only complaints is the rooms are small and the main huge window faces the parking lot and not the water out back.Close to many hiking trails on Point Reyes. Great outdoor space to relax.

This month I stayed at this place for the third time. It is clean, comfortable, and very friendly. The large fireplace and the leather couches in the common room are inviting. I love having my morning coffee on the deck with a great view of the bay.

Stayed over Xmas 2015. Great views of Tomales Bay! Very kind owners. Amazing fireplace and cozy seating. Can't beat the accommodations right on the water for price and value. Also the coffee that they provide for free is of high quality. Can't wait to go back!

What a weird weird place... The house and location is beautiful, but the owners dont seem to appreciate having customers in their motel. We absolutely didnt feel wanted there... When we went into the lobby on our last morning to drink a coffee and went back to our room afterwards, the bed linen has already been completely removed... We havent even checked out! Room wasn't clean, lot of dead bugs and daily roomservice was a myth as well... The walls are paperthin.. Cant recommend it..

Tremendously beautiful setting ... one would think the staff would be more appreciative and respectful to their clientele. Unfortunately, however, the quality of interaction from the staff was so horrible that it almost took away from our joy of the surroundings. Such a failure, means that I will never go back. If you do decide to spend a romantic getaway here, please, do not hesitate to give these people an appropriate perspective on how to treat customers who are of the mindset to relax.Rudeness, it's just unnecessary. [End of rant]

Old fashioned motel from 50s. Small very clean rooms. Some have small poches. Very nice great room with comfortable seating. Pool table, game table, fireplace, coffee and tea station plenty of magazines and books and games. Very nice view of bay and reeds from large windows. Pleasant staff. Would stay again.

I wanted to love it but I don't love bugs. Bugs in the shower, moths by the sink. We slept with the bathroom light on to keep them away from us while we slept and our room was tiny so the light kept me up. Other than the bugs and the tiny closet room 7 we had I loved it!

Motel Inverness has been our go to place to stay in Marin when we're looking for somewhere that feels peaceful and relaxing and respectful of the beauty all around. When my husband and I got married in Point Reyes we booked out the whole motel and had our wedding party stay there. The lodge area made for great late night board game & pool table time, and the porch provided an amazing place to watch the day and night go by. Everything was so quiet and easy. We returned 3 years later (would have been earlier, but Covid...) and had our first night away from our now 1 year old. It was exactly as we remembered - with new hosts, but the same friendly, easy atmosphere. The room was clean, the coffee was delicious, and it felt like a getaway in which only we existed. We'll be going back as often as travel plans allow.

Really enjoyed my stay. It's great even if you're not a bird watcher. Very relaxing. Though the skylight in our room that woke us up with light at 7am was a surprise.

The staff here are very considerate people. I left something in the room after checkout, and they reached out to me to arrange to get it back to me. Super friendly and helpful, considering it was my mistake. I already thought it was a nice place to stay - now I recommend it without hesitation.

Amazing view of the bay with lots of ducks and animals. The rooms themselves are on the small side and show their age. Lots of noise from other rooms and the road unfortunately.

Visiting Point Reyes for the first time from NC. The motel was awesome: clean, friendly, inexpensive, and privacy. A great place to relax.
