Like I have said in my previous reviews, this Safeway desperately needs updating in every way, shape and form!The best way to go grocery shopping here and actually save money or at least not feel so insulted when you're paying for your grocery bill is to go online and clip the digital cupons. Seriously.I just recently found Safeway's clearance section it's very small and tucked away on the right wall as you are heading to the restrooms in the very back of the store. There's not tons and tons of items but there are everyday items.Like some expensive lotions are very inexpensive when they are on that rack and cereals that kids love and are very expensive are very inexpensive on that rack as well as a lot of soups lunch stuff etc. Check it out .Please pay attention to your surroundings when you are in the parking lot day or night.This parking lot is not always very well lit.

picked up some late night barbecue material when they were stocking the shelf for the next day, the meat was putrid and not edible. this particular safeway store is a health hazard and a food safety hazard.update: thanks for the timely reply. I couldn't find a contact us option on the website though.

First time at this Safeway and Rhonda at the Deli department made my experience AMAZING! She had ton of patience and made my sandwiches so perfect! Definitely going to be back just for the sandwiches next time i visit !❤️❤️❤️

This is the only major grocery store for those of us who live on the coast. The selection here is very limited, but something you get used to. I do not recommend going towards the end of the week or the weekend as many items are completely out of stock. For the most part, the cashiers are very friendly. At times, as others have mentioned in reviews, the rest of the workers are not always friendly when asked for help in the isles. Overall, the store seems to have the basic necessities needed to get by. The specialty areas are nice, such as the deli, the bakery, and the butcher. Excellent customer service in those departments.I have a specific complaint about my visit yesterday. After holidays, all of the holiday items are usually marked down in price. I came in looking for a Mylar balloon to scare a fox out of my yard. There was a St. Patrick’s Day balloon in the back of the toy bin. Saint Patrick’s day was two weeks ago, so I asked several people if there was a discount. They kept referring me to the floral department, but no one was working there. I asked the person working the customer service counter, and they just said no it’s full price. I said that holiday items are usually marked down after the fact, and started to mention that they were not going to be able to sell it, and she said it’s still full price. I looked around at other balloons, figuring, if I’m paying full price, I would get a fresher/fuller balloon. Almost all of their balloons we’re already half deflated, none were worth the price they were asking. I used to buy balloons here for many occasions, now I can never find what I want. I still can’t believe that they would rather throw that balloon away then to sell it for half price.

I like this store for being a smaller Safeway they still have a nice bakery department. The early you go the better

We got sandwiches here that were good however they weren't vegetarian friendly, they were holding the bacon and cheese all together and putting the cheese back after it touched meet. I made sure to get a cheese they had to go slice and asked then not to cut my sandwich for fear of cross contamination.

Jose at the deli made me one the best sandwichs I've had in a long time and in record time. I was in a bit of a hurry, so it meant a lot.He was extremely courteous and efficient.Thanks Jose. You are awesome.

I would give no star if I could. WORST STORE EVER! I have lost hundreds of dollars on outdated rotten (some things outdated by a MONTH!) and damaged food that was delivered to my house (not even mentioning the ridiculous substitutions). The app no longer allows you to report it. Called manager and he said I had to drive to the store with the items to get them exchanged. This was after I paid for delivery fees. ABSOLUTE GARBAGE store. Will shop Whole Foods for delivery from now on.

Good grocery store but a bit disorganized. Workers here seem not very happy or helpful.Fresh produce or fruits are not always available after 5 pm.Wait lines are always super long, thank goodness, for self-checkout, but it can be annoying when the system is down.Safeway, you can do better by offering more wholesome and organic produce and food.

Standard Northern California Safeway. Relatively big. Likely it will have most of the regular grocery items you need. It seems clean but looks old. Sunday afternoon shopping may not be a good time. Many items and produce was cleaned out in need of stocking.

If you go around to the back of the store you might be able to find a blue cube like bin and inside that bin is all sorts of still decent produce that they are sending away to be composted best thing is although discouraged it is totally legal to get the food out of these bins from a precedent set by the Supreme Court in the case People vs. Greenwood back in the mid 80’s but that is only if they leave the gate open/unlocked. Happy hunting 🤓

Clerk was very kind, bathrooms were clean, found the store too crowded with merchandise, to the point grocery carts were cumbersome in the isles. I love Safeway, but their prices tend to be higher, GREAT BAKERY, BUT high prices, the second clerk was weird, no expression, no interaction, very blunt, I felt he was being bothered to check the lady in front of me as well as myself

I do not shop at Safeway unless I have no other choice. I may run there for anItem or two at times. The prices are too high, the food spoils quickly if not immediately, and there are a few staff members who clearly don"t like people. I always drive to Pacifica to shop at Grocery Outlet. I spend $300 and that buys $600 worth of groceries.I love it and the people are pleasant.

This is the only Safeway in Half Moon Bay. The bad part is vendors, solicitors, or voter soliciting petitioners at the entrance. It's clean and medium sized grocery store with nice layout.

After calling 11 Safeway stores in my area of San Jose to order our Thanksgiving dinner..only to find out they were all sold out!! I couldn't believe it😬..So I decided to call this location and OMG they only had 2 dinners left to order!. I was able to score one!! The associate who helped me on the phone was super nice and made my day. Thanks Rhonda 😀

I shop at this Safeway probably 5 times a week. It's a very old store and it's very compact. I understand it was supposed to be a 2 story Safeway to save money they made it a one story. The bathrooms are in serious need of remodeling. In my opinion you can judge a location I how well kept the restrooms are maintained. The other design flaw of the store is the restrooms right behind the fish/meat department. I like the store staff but the store itself needs updating.

To be honest 2 and a half stars would be fair. I'm a frequent customer and a local. I dont suggest coming here. The bread and donuts in the bakery aren't usually fresh. The employees are not well treated and underpaid. I feel as if I was discriminated against on my last visit today. All I can think about was how bad the customer service was towards me and my husband. Her name was Carmen and she is the reason why I even decided to leave a review. She followed us around the store the second we walked inside. When we checked out, she was extremely rude and not wanting to assist us, especially when she was standing around etc. This experience did not leave me feeling well at all. I dont suggest coming here unless you plan on being profiled and stalked. I'll be going to New Leaf instead because they believe in EQUALITY & acceptance.

Great place to stop for groceries if you’re renting a beach house in the area. Only have 4 stars because their selection and quality of fruit was really lacking. Wanted some strawberries but they looked moldy and only half ripe. Maybe due to the location on coast it’s hard to get good fruit this time of year? But it’s we found some great blackberries, bananas and apples. Found everything else we needed plus some!

Update: 5/15/22 This safeway although good…. Really need to train more than one staff member to handle western union inquires… stopped in this evening and the person on site was “on lunch come back in an hour” I hate to bash this store as I am a frequent shopper but this needs to be addressed.

This Safeway rocks! They were amazing before covid, superstars during covid, and still amazing after. Always friendly. I wish they had better bread at the bakery but oh well. Safeway HMB, keep up the good work! And thank you for being there.

Run down, associates are zombies. No interaction whatsoever. Seems like you were annoying them.Shelves were emptied,most of the sale items were out of stock.It is just me but since the COVID-19 started does it seems anywhere you go with bigbox the associates seem disinterested in helping you and move 3x as slow.

Greatly disappointed that they have not had their hot soup bar. If they are afraid of germs, then provide gloves or have the sandwich bar heat it in their microwave. Lost my favorite lunch place.

Best Customer Service EVER. I always shop late due to my schedule, which leads me to and i to this store 15 minutes prior to closing. Even though staff are tired and ready to shut the doors, they are ALWAYS helpful and happy.

The Half Moon Bay Safeway is almost always busy. It has the full line of groceries and related household products. There's a deli, bakery, a full line of produce and a complete meat section. It's a safe environment with relatively easy parking. There's a CVS, McDonald's, Round Table Pizza and other businesses in the same area.It's not unusual for homeless persons to be present, but the ones I have encountered are neither aggressive or otherwise problematic.

I have been in ,but I don't believe I've ever shopped. My Sister & Brother in law live in LA Honda so go grocery shopping they would take us here to pick up whatever was forgotten earlier or get what was decided then. Good Safeway. Safeway You can count on.

My favorite grocery store of all time. I am not much a fan of Albertsons, who owns Safeway as their prices are higher so I am glad they have kept Safeway, Safeway and not turned it into a Vons or Albertsons.
