​We stopped in while on a quick local vacation. Before I get into another horrid review I saw (which is actually an obvious fake review on Yelp as usual), I want to tell you about what we experienced there. When we visited the staff were SUPER nice, they treated the dogs beautifully and the place was immaculate. They were attentive, loving and caring toward the animals. They followed their hand washing rules religiously! They were so patient with me and my children (and husband) because we wanted to see so many dogs. How awesome that we are able to share this experience with our kids!!! We were able to talk about caring for animals, holding them properly when they're young, and what to look for in a healthy animal. They also learned new things about different breeds as well as become exposed to many different KINDS of animals, not just dogs! We also talked about the importance of being ready to get a puppy and all the things you need to do prepare your home and life for a new member of your family. I think it is CRITICAL that pet shops that meet certain standards should be allowed to provide and sell animals to families. I've heard that things are changing and that is SUCH A HORRID SHAME! I saw a ridiculous review on Yelp for this store written by Jen S. from Port Hueneme, someone I wish I could meet in person >:-( How DARE you advocate for pet shops to no longer sell animals? How do YOU personally know where these specific animals come from? You tout that pet shops should not be allowed to provide and sell animals to families because shelters are overrun. Why isn't there an option in the middle? Such as, let's get creative and say that for X number of non-rescue animals sold there needs to be X number of rescue animals also sold? Where is your CREATIVITY? I'll say one other thing VERY clearly, Jen S. from Port Hueneme: Do you have biological children? I'd better not see you having any biological children because foster homes and shelters are overrun with abused and neglected children! I've adopted 4 and fostered 28 so yep I know what I'm talking about. And guess what else? I've also fostered animals that needed a temporary home and I've also bought non-rescue animals from pet shops my ENTIRE life! This pet shop is wonderful and the staff we met are also wonderful. They CARE for the ACTUAL animals there. What animals and children DO YOU CARE FOR? Stop complaining and trying to pretend you're an advocate and get out there and make a REAL difference by actually DOING something instead of complaining about others who ARE doing something. If you want a great animal, choose the one YOU WILL LOVE FOREVER. Don't be forced into getting a rescue animal or ANY animal just because you don't have a choice! People like Jen S. from Port Hueneme need to shut it and put their actions where their mouths are. Yes, I'm angry at any law that prevents me and my family from having the experience we had (and have had for years) at pet shops. I have visited MANY shelters and guess what? They are smelly, dirty, and filled with staff who really don't know very much about the breeds they are supposed to care for and spot illnesses in. At pet shops you have people who don't sell unless they know the breeds, so they are motivated not only because of money but also because they love animals. You don't last working in a pet shop if you don't! I have experienced and heard too many stories about people getting a rescue animal and the animal down the road getting very sick and causing profound sadness with children. Jen S. from Port Hueneme, when is the last time you had a teenage boy sobbing on your shoulder because a dog died 6 months after they got him from the shelter? If that's never happened to you, then SHUT IT and go do some REAL advocacy!

Staff here is super friendly and helpful! They gladly answered all of our questions and gave us good advice. Spent about 45 minutes here trying to decide on buying this puppy or not. The staff let us hold the puppy as long as we wanted and didn't push us to buy the dog but instead gave good advice and went out of their way to make sure we were picking the right puppy for us out of the litter. I recommend going here if you are looking for a super cute puppy with a friendly staff!

They were super nice when it came to selling me my puppy but when I called the following day to inform of huge flea problem they said I could come buy flea shampoo...they also informed me to use the 4 to 10 lb flea treatment on my 2 lb puppy which the box strongly warns against. Highly disappointed spent over 1500 dollars and they didn't even offer a free shampoo or and remedy that didn't require me spending more money. I'd give a zero star if they had it

this is the best pet shop in the world!!!!! the people there are sooo nice! and the cutest puppies in the world!and the cutest supplies and they take such good care of the puppies they are always nicely groomed and well taken care of! i will go to that place anytime .. they have a lot of pets there to like hamsters,birds,bunnies,cats,puppies,guinea pigs....the also other thing that is cool is that u can hold how ever many puppies u want ! u can even hold a bunny or hamster or cat...just not the birds..lol..i would recommend this place to anybody in the world! thank you for your time.and i hope this was very helpful to you.

I purchased my Lhaso Apso puppy here about a week ago and she's been great! She's happy, healthy, and pretty smart. The service was great, the young lady was very informative and honest when I asked questions regarding health and guarantee. I also asked about the reviews on the internet and she was honest about those too. All these puppies come from individual breeders. And contrary to what the reviews may say, theyre happy! We went in twice, getting a puppy is a huge responsibility, but wach visit, all puppies were playful and energetic. My puppy was bred in Visalia. I chose to purchase and not adopt because I'd tried our local ASPCA and even some non local adoption agencies, and neither had a dog that fit my needs. Some agencies even turned us down because we lived too far away from them. Anyway, I don't owe an explanation to anyone why I purchased but I'm happy I did. She's a happy healthy puppy and we couldn't be happier. Thank you!

PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE! They claim that their puppies are not from puppy mills, but that is a 100% LIE. Puppies that are advertised as AKC registered ARE NOT able to be registered. They will NOT give you any information about the parents. We made the mistake of falling in love with a French Mastiff and bought her on a whim. When trying to get her registration information, the owner REFUSED to supply us with it. We began to experience aggressiveness, a sign that she was ABUSED as a puppy before we got her. Please do NOT let yourself or your family fall in love with a puppy, as you will suffer heartbreak and ENDLESS troubles with ANYTHING bought from Animal Kingdom Pet Store. The owner is RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, AND A SUPPORTER OF PUPPY MILLS.

I love this pet store, the employees are super cool and nice BUT, I put in an application like 3 weeks ago and still haven't gotten a call back. But my friend got one the day after turning in hers. I don't really know why but they just never called me, not even to let me know they weren't interested or what they think about my application.

I co-owned a bulldog puppie which hadn't even been registered yet and they allowed co-owner to trade a $3000 Eng. Bulldog pup for a $600 Boston terrier pup straight across and then turned around and sold pup that wasn't even teirs to sell for $2500 not to mention unregistered. When I called them and asked regarding the pup first the owner acted like he didn't know what I was talking about and than got very hostile...Its a shame that people in this type of community need to run their business that way...CD"s is an amazing pet store, good honest helpful people...

Friendly staff!! We bought our poodle there 17 years ago who passed away recently and we came back for another puppy. Another customer was there purchasing 2 puppies whom had the same experience. Always knowledgeably. Thanks🐩 ☺️

Went in and spoke with someone working there. He told me he warranties the animals so thats why he charges so much. Of course i had explained that an aquaintance had sold her puppies to this store at 250 a piece and he turned around and sold them for 1250. Some warranty. Btw he did not know that i was aware he was the owner. All of this being said youre better off looking on craigslist and getting your dog vaccinated yourself. (The aquaintance also posted on craigslist) And for people looking to adopt go to the shelters first...not only to look for a pet but to see what happens when they are abandoned.

Bummer of a pet store. I was shopping for a new retractable leash for my min pins. I had them with me and they got excited by the puppies. I was calming them down while giving them exposure training. I asked the clerk if it was ok. she said she could not allow them barking in the store. guess we won't be in that PET store again

Animal kingdom is awesome! I worked there many years ago and I enjoyed the environment, but my review is based on a Shiba Inu puppy my siter bought and we are all very pleased with our companion. I highly recomend animal kindgom if your not on a budget.

Animal Kingdom has 3 locations and we found our puppy in Arroyo Grande. All the way from Missouri, our Shiba Inu was love at first sight. Gladys helped us quickly take her home and was very helpful. We are now home picking thru names and seeing what her personality is all about. Unbelievable!

Do not ever buy a puppy from these liars!I felt sorry for the little German Shepherd puppy so shy, and acted like it had been abused, on a impulse I paid $800.00 but with their Wags loan ended up paying $2800.00 for him, not including his medical bills, he has spine deformities, submissive urination, and had all his dew claws still on. he had a eating disorder, would not eat, has intestinal problems (can't get any nutrients from food) is on meds. will be completely crippled by the time he is three, and to top it off, he is a mixture of Anatolian shepherd, german shepherd, and other mixtures, not even a purebred like was told 800.00 really??? go find a breeder, don't take these liars lies, or better yet go to the Animal shelter and rescue a mixed dog, I would love to know how these pups get any exercise in the small aquariums they keep them in, makes me sick! no conscious these people, don't buy from them, so they have to quit buying from puppy mills, and letting people drop off pups in the parking lot, not knowing a damn thing about them, giving 25.00 or 50.00 and selling them for 500.00--to 2500.00 shame on you animal kingdom, My friend just purchased the most beautiful German Shepherd ever, from Craigs list for 300.00 quit buying from these liars!!

The staff was very friendly, attentive and knew a lot about a topic I'm still learning about. It was very helpful to be able to talk to people that knew so much. The store was very clean as well. Thank you for such a great experience today.

Puppy mill Hell . My Neighbor got a deaf puppy and sued . All Animal Kingdom stores need to close just like their Santa Maria location as protestors will not stop educating the public where these poor puppies truly come from! BEWARE😡😡😡😡😡😡

Just walked in to check out the yorkies. The staff was beyond helpful and knowledgeable. Hopefully we'll be ready for a new 4 legged baby and definitely will stop by here to find him.
