NOVEMBER 10: FRIDAYS are the best deals at Safeway! Today i got 2 pork tenderloins for the price of one! 10.49 total! Also stocked up on 5 dollar salmon filets and pack of lobster tails ( 2 tails for 5 bucks). Always check their ads because its not every friday they have these steals!I call this little Safeway because it's much smaller than the other one in town. Great selection of produce and good deals on wine. Not much of a selection of fish. It's not crowded and staff is friendly! Good small bakery items. Great location off the freeway.This is my go to for produce! On Fridays they have alot of buy one get one free products along with great steak deals! Use the app to save money! Last Friday they had 2 lobster tails for 5 bucks and salmon for 5 bucks! Just look on line to see what is on sale each Friday because they change up their specials on a weekly basis! December 15th..more deals on steaks and salmon! Employees are always so helpful!

This store is great! Friendly people and always very courteous and helpful. The store is smaller than the Brunswick location so they don't have some items due to limited shelf space. Hands down a better store to shop than the Brunswick (Sutton Way) location!

The “old Safeway” in downtown Grass Valley (not sure why our small town needs 2 Safeways, but I digress) is the most convenient grocery store, at times. The store is smaller and older, but has everything you need. Usually there are enough checkers to get you through quickly. There are no “extras” in this store - no deli, no bakery, no coffee bar. Just the basics, ma’am, and that’s exactly the purpose they fill.

Honestly absolutely disgusting when it comes to cleanliness. Even worse when it comes to the disgusting assistant manager the only person in this tiny town that has ever harassed me ever. She was quite nice to me for so long until she saw me with another woman. she began harassing me telling me that I've been parked here for too long. Telling me I can't live here calling me a bum. Im honestly surprised with how many problems this woman has caused with so many people. Here I am trespass from their property for moving their signs that are no more than just harassment every 10 ft stating you can't park here unless you buy their food. that is ridiculously overpriced and stored on shelves that are filthy I'm an honest good man. I walk around this small town cleaning up trash. when I'm not working I also donate my time cleaning up abandoned houses. I've sworn an oath just like many of our police officers and here I am unable to shop at a grocery store that I live right next to because of a sad and disgusting person.

I was a beverage merch for almost a year servicing this store. Some of the staff here is awesome, but as far as management is concerned, theres several names that need to be booted. Receiving manager was absolutely unbearable, arguably could make a case about harassment. Rotation is an issue, so check dates for sure. Management does nothing to keep their receiver in line when he takes his personal problems out on merchandisers and drivers. The backroom is an accident waiting to happen.

You will never walk into this Safeway and not wait in a ridiculously long line. I don't know if they are perpetually understaffed or if they have a policy that there must be at least 8 people in line to open another register but if coming in expect to wait! Added a photo 2 weeks after going back from last review. This is a medium line at this place.

I liked that I could run on and quickly grab some flowers. They had a nice selection.Had to run in again for 1 item and it was very fast, no line.

Small store and lacks a lot of options. Hit and miss with the staff, some are nice and some staff don't where items are.They get a lot of checkout backups because they are understaffed all the time and it is not related to the pandemic, they have always been that way.The store has that old stuffy/musty/moldy smell too.

Safeway is great. I love that store. Safeway for U gives you cash, free stuff or save your points and get $1 off per gallon of gas. Don't shop anywhere else.

What a tiny store. Store was clean & well stocked. This has to be one of the smallest stores I've ever seen.Staff did not present a professional appearance, nor did they greet us professionally. I'm old & old school. I was taught to be kind, courteous and present a good image. I guess things are a changing. I won't be going back there, & I won't be shopping at a Safeway again.

Nice sore with some really good deals if you are a savvy shopper. They had live cashiers and even BAGGERS. This is something that Walmarts have done away with (from my observations). Store was clean and organized. Would definitely go back there again for food shopping.

Great group of employees that are always ready to help you. Its hard to find anyone at other grocery stores. If I need help with anything at other stores i have to walk to the front of the store to find help. Not Safeway and that's a big plus for me.

I was very pleased when I visited Grass Valley and found Safeway to be very close to our hotel. I walked there with my grandson when we needed a few supplies, and I was greeted by employees and other shoppers alike. One long haired, yet clean cut, young man (is that an oxymoron?) was especially helpful and seemed to thoroughly enjoy his work.This store was very clean and well stocked and remained open late even on a Sunday which was a welcome sight to see.

I enjoyed their wide selection of ice cream. They also had beautiful glass vases in an incredible range of colors, shapes and sizes that were reasonably priced and would make great gifts if you could stand to part with them! The employees were very helpful and pleasant. I had a great trip there, and it had improved upon my former impression of that store.

Well I can honestly say that a shopping cart of groceries used to cost me roughly $200- &250......that same cart cost over $400 yesterday and I had $100 in discounts. Across the board the price of things is outrageous. Safeway makes you buy too many quantities of items in order to get the member discount. In the past those buy one get two or three free were a good deal. Now the cost of just the one item to get the free item/items is way to overpriced for that to even be a deal. Nor do I need to have a half a dozen bags of chips when 2 will do. Safeway has always been on the higher end the past several years. However, usually with the app and discounts it evens itself out. Well no longer is that the case. It looks as though their prices on EVERYTHING at the very least have doubled, tripled in some areas. I'd like to say I'm over the whole buying of groceries thing. However, dehydration and starvation are not on my bucket list. What's the world coming to? Nevermind, don't answer that.

This store is half the size of the Safeway across town. If I just need a few everyday items, I can usually find them here. If I need to do a big shop or want the full selection of deli items, I go to the big Safeway on Sutton Way.The manager Ibraham is nice, helpful fellow.The restroom is usually dirty. Apparently its turned into a homeless hangout, like in the big cities. You don't want to touch anything, especially after washing your hands. Good luck!

My favorite place to shop for deals. I like how I can earn reward points to get free groceries or money off on gasoline. Also very tasty selection of baked goods.

Keeping it clean. Relatively fast service (avoid Fridays, Weekends and the 5-7 rush) considering the volume of traffic through this store. Rare I can't find what I'm looking for as far as groceries. Decent selection of fruits and veggies with good attention paid to organic varieties. Wine beer and liquor are all well stocked and the meat counter has decent cuts. All around a solid option for run of the mill standard shopping trips. Better savings than other local supermarket chains makes it our families go to.

Safeway has better prices and a bigger selection of fresh meats, fish & poultry in their meat department. If you can't find the cut of meat you want they will cut it for you. Great sales every day. They have a large and delicious deli, great staff there to. The veggies and fruit department is elegant and the produce doesn't look like the high school varsity football team used it for practice. Big store, little prices. Well worth the time to go.

It's a safeway that's actually walkable for most of the core of Grass Valley. It has all the things a major grocer carries in America today. It's not as fancy as the co-op, but it's nicer than Grocery Outlet?

This store has been here forever. No fancy bakery (although they do have some donuts, etc, brought in from another store) or deli, just your average grocery store. Has some organic produce, but expensive. My problem with this place is they never seem to have enough cashiers. I prefer Grocery Outlet, where I save a lot more money.

The staff who work at this Safeway deserve some recognition. This team excels at customer service, ALWAYS going above and beyond most grocery stores I've shopped at. These people work hard to serve us even when it's crazy busy in there.

Went in to get a drink. Lanes were fast and employees were wearing masks.Got a sandwich from the deli, it was very good. The soup was delicious too. Good combo price.

I love the bakery and the manager at the meat counter is quite nice and helpful. I was there early in the morning and passed several employees and it wasn't until I was at the checkout before anybody even acknowledged me or had a smile. They all seem to have a look on their face of please don't talk to me I don't want to have to provide customer service.

It's the people, the service, the parking, the staff, the quality of product, and the price! I love it when they have 2 for 1 sales or buy 2 get 2 free. I mean, so what if you came in to only buy 1-12 pk of soda and you end up buying 2. Guess what? Ya got 2 FREE 12 pks.! So it breaks down to HALF OFF!

Safeway's pricing has gotten absolutely ridiculously high. Their meats prices are literally 100% higher or twice as expensive as Save Mart. The shelves are fairly well-stocked but literally everything in that store is more expensive than even Raley's.

Love shopping at Safeway. I've checked out all the stores around Grass Valley and compared them to Safeway. Safeway has the best prices, best produce and the best service. I love doing self checkout when I only have a few items, in and out in no time at all. I love the Safeway app and the Just for U coupons were you scan items with your phone and then get credit for the coupon by using your Safeway card at the register. If you haven't downloaded the Safeway app and connected your Safeway card to it then you should give it a try. Great way to save money. Just watch for the Just for U coupons by the price of each item and scan the item and then use your Safeway card at the register, presto, electronic coupon. It's that easy.
