This place wasted a lot of my time by not stating their conditions upfront. Take a lesson from my experience: I booked an appointment for my senior dog, and before we came in I gave him a calming medication because he can be a little anxious. Nope, once we got here it turns out they won’t groom dogs in any kind of medication. Ok, rebook for 3 days later. We load up in the car and drive down again. He has hemangiosarcoma (an internal cancer of blood vessels) and now they tell me they don’t groom dogs with any kind of cancer. No one bothered to state these conditions of service when I called to make an appointment. We will find a new food and dog supply store; I’m never going back to any Petco again.

Horrible customer service. Avoid at all costs. Refused to groom my pet after making an appointment. The told me that I need rabbies proof. Ok no problem. I show up with vaccine paperwork on time for my appointment after running around all day. Bringing my 15 year old dog in the car(she has arthritis and car rides are very hard on her, which petco knew because I told them when booking) At check in they casually ask what medications she takes. I tell them she's on gabapentin for her arthritis which again, they knew about(the arthritis). Then they refuse saying gabapentin is a sedative. I explain to them its not, it's a medication for joint pain at lower doses. The lady just keeps saying it's corporate policy. THEN WHY DIDNT YOU ASK WHEN MAKING THE APPOINTMENT IF SHE IS ON MEDS. what 15 year old dog with arthritis isn't on medication?! They call the manager who is some dude with a pony tail who tells me she needs to be groomed by a vet. How dumb can you be. She needs the gabapentin for her pain, not to sedate her. This policy makes absolutely no sense in the first place. So so incredibly dumb and waste of time and worst of all unnecessary trip for the dog in the car. Eff this place. Don't waste your time. Find a local groomer who doesn't have corporate policies.

The groomers were very good. We took two dogs in for grooming. One, an older toy poodle stressed out during drying. Her toenails were clipped and she was drying when she became very stressed out. They called me and they did not charge me for the visit. The other dog, a golden retriever was done very nicely. She looked beautiful. I was disappointed that the poodle stressed, but that was not the groomers fault and I appreciated them calling me to pick her up.

The staff is very overworked and overwhelmeded. It seems like Petco could do a little more to support their staff. Shortages of employees and lack of procedures aside, the women at the GV branch in the grooming department did a fantastic job. These poor girls are working their butts off and deserve some serious appreciation. I tipped well but I think they deserve some corporate recognition for excellence.
