It is so amazing that there is a place that injured wildlife can be taken. Be aware you will not get any towels or containers back. We have taken a hummingbird and a songbird...and discovered that shop towels are fibrous and soft enough to comfort a bird. They are blue and just like paper towels...available in bulk at Costco periodically. The pics are of the bird that got loose when we were trying to get a video of it for the staff...but he was caught and delivered!

Saved this adorable loon and took it to the wildlife care center. They are very responsive, caring, and answer phone calls or will call back ASAP. They also encourage you to call to check in the well-being of the bird.

One of the best wildlife rescues I've ever seen. The staff here is caring, knowledgeable and devoted. Lits of new, state of the art equipment and buildings, with more on the way. I was so impressed I think I'm actually going to start volunteering soon so I can be a part of such a great organization!

I can't say enough good about this place. 1st visit personally. But I've referred them hundreds of times. They really do care about animals. I couldn't believe how busy they were when I brought them an Owl. There were storks in boxes everywhere. It was beyond busy and they were so calm, cool, collected, and caring. Trust me there's a reason they can't answer the phone all the time. They'll return your call though. Looking forward to committing to some volunteer time. They need them. All the time...n

What would we do without the Wildlife Care Network? Well certainly many of our precious wildlife would not survive.I have been volunteering at SBWCN for a couple months now and have learned how critical of a place this is for our community and habitat. In just a couple months I have seen numerous mammals come in looking staved and stick and seen them recover to good health and energy to be released and continue with life. Each animal, big or small, is part of our ecosystem and it has been enlightening to learn about their roles. The staff is hardworking and passionate. Dawn is an excellent volunteer coordinator and keeps us all in the loop. Brit and Devon have been wonderful to learn from in regards to animal care and rehabilitation. I have also connected with the other volunteers like Dana who provided consistency and teamwork to promote a good rhythm with care. If you are considering volunteering please do. Consistency is key. In just a couple months I truly have learned so much about our surroundings and about how to handle and care for our precious wildlife. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this team.~Kendra

While doing yard work over the weekend found a baby bird on the ground couldn't have been more than a week old . I looked in the tree to see if I could find the nest that the bird had fallen from with no luck I started searching the internet. Unfortunately it was after hours so I made a small nest in a box and delivered first thing in the morning. Haven't heard anything on how the bird is as of yet . Hopefully it survived. Great to have a place like the wildlife care unit in Santa Barbara

If you find an injured animal, don’t take them to this place. They only have one solution and it’s euthanizing animals and telling you it’s the most humane thing to do. Don’t let all these good reviews fool you. I found a pigeon with a broken wing. I kept her for a day before taking her to this slatherhouse. She was doing well other than having a broken wing. I gave her food and water. They believe animals with disabilities should be euthanized. Please don’t support these people. if you find an injured animal, be sure they are safer with you or just in the wild.

A wonderful place run by some special people. Some neighborhood crows took out a baby scrub jay and left it injured in our lawn. We brought it over to SB Wildlife Care Network, and they took it in without question. We had to fill out a breif survey form, but I was in and out in less than five minutes. Naturally, they can't guarantee that they will be able to save every animal that they take in, but they do their best. From what I saw, everything looked clean and well organized, considering the number of animals housed there.

These wonderful people do God's work. Honestly. They care for animals, mostly birds. But they are set up to take anything on.We watched them hand feed a pelican that was too weak to feed on it's own. They are so professional. They showed is around their property. Any hurt animal is horrible, but if they are lucky enough to be brought here, they will be given a 5 star treatment.God bless these people and their organization.

I took a long drive to the Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network located in Goleta because I had a hard time getting through to anyone on the phone and I had a baby squirrel that needed help. The people there are so kind you can tell they love what they're doing and they kept me totally in the loop of things. My little fox squirrel went to a foster home where he is doing well and will be released back into the wild. I named him Denny because my cousin found him outside of Denny's restaurant in Port Hueneme, Ca.

These folks are awesome! I found a seagull on a remote beach that had a fishing lure stuck in his mouth and foot. They sent someone out to meet me and rescued him. I called other rescues, but they couldn’t be bothered for a seagull. Thanks guys!

I drove to Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network located in Goleta to bring in a young squirrel that ran up to my cousin at Denny's restaurant in Port Hueneme. The little fox squirrel was obviously in distress and needed help. The squirrel is now doing well and is going to make a full recovery! The Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network helps thousands of wild animals from the smallest to the largest and depends on donations to keep going they are also always in need of volunteers. The people there were so nice and I'm really glad I made the drive to help this little boy squirrel! I named him Denny.

This is one of the most important community services in Santa Barbara. They deserve - and need - all the support we can offer. Thank you for helping to save our wild neighbors who suffer from human activities!

March 26, 2018 I called SBWCN and was happy to hear a person answer my call (rather than a recorded message). On the wet sand at Shoreline Beach there was an obviously distressed Western grebe. Grebes are not shorebirds, so I knew the bird was in trouble. A SBWCN volunteer showed up with 20 minutes of my call to collect the grebe and take it to the wildlife center. How wonderful it is that there are hard-working, selfless people rescuing and caring for sick and/or injured animals. Hooray for SBWCN. I am making a donation today.

I found a dead momma opossum with one baby barely clinging to life underneath her. I took it to the Wildlife Care Network (where coincidentally I have a volunteer orientation in a few days). If anyone can save this baby, I believe they can. Of course, I did everything wrong in the process of getting the baby to them, but hey, I'm learning!
