We stopped here for lunch because of the old fun sign outside! We had to try this cafe! Very cute cafe with fun decor.. many cows. They had friendly and speedy service. The food was good. We were eating healthy so mostly ordered cold sandwiches and fruit. I did have the French fries and they were very good. My mom had the patty melt and that was probably our table favorite other then the fries. Fun place to stop.

Old American diner obsessed with cows, food was really good. Best county fried steak I've had hands down.Kid-friendliness: Willing to accommodate for my brother who's a huge picky eater.

This is a nice spot to grab some breakfast or lunch. We really like their fish and chips which comes with in house made tartar sauce. I've had their breakfast as well and they have good portions. I did not really enjoy their tuna melt but I normally don't order tuna melts from anywhere so not sure if it was just me. Maybe I don't like warm tuna sandwiches. The servers are always pleasant and attentive.

I really enjoy the breakfasts I've eaten at the cafe, especially like the Huevos Rancheros. And all the different breakfast offerings at The Eel River Cafe are made so beautifully, love the way they do the hash browns. They have the touch ! The owners are some of the kindest people in our little neck of the woods. It feels good to be so well taken care of. And they make high end premium coffee as well.

Meh, just your average, small town American Diner. Cows and cars line the wall with a few trophy steelhead. Seating at the bar was comfortable. The portions were a little on the slim side, was expecting a pile of fries and some real battered cod. Not what I was expecting at all.

3.5 stars. It's a decent diner. Very cute ambience dedicated to cows and cars. Limited seating in a very small area so they have panels for social distancing. We got here around 9 am on a federal holiday so there was still place to sit. Typical breakfast diner food is served. We ordered the french toast and the fiesta omelet, a hot chocolate and freshly squeezed orange juice. The french toast started just ok but towards the end we liked it, esp with the butter and syrup. The fiesta omelet is basically beef chili with egg, avocado, olives, etc inside the egg with a side of hash and toast. The omelet itself was good but the hashbrown was very tasteless and needed a lot of salt. The orange juice, freshly squeezed, was AMAZING! Def pay the extra $1 and get this. The hot chocolate was on the sweeter side. The meal lasted us a good 4-5 hours in terms of hunger.

This was our first visit to the The Eel River Diner and if we lived closer, it would be our regular breakfast spot. The food was delicious, especially the buttermilk pancakes. Perfection! However, as good as the food was, the customer service was even better. Alicia, our server, was very attentive and amazing. Jennifer tended to us as well and she was delightful. The other server, Christina, was a hoot! I wish I had pictures but believe me, you won’t be disappointed. Special thanks to the locals, they were very hospitable. Thanks Eel River Cafe, we’ll be back. The Taijerons!

This is a down home cafe that closes early.Breakfast and lunch only. The food is good. The service is OK.The prices are more than fair. The atmosphere depends on the day, if it has street people outside or if some decide to come in.It is not their fault that Garberville has become dominated by a hard street scene. It has been a good place to have a good early breakfast before spending a day touring the redwood groves. But keep an eye out and be ready to walk away. And it's not like you have a lot of options.

I looked up public restrooms on Google, and this was the closest stop. When I arrived, I saw a sign in the business window that said no public restroom. When I went inside to ask if the sign was true, she told me yes, but because I was polite about asking to use the restroom, she let me use the restroom. I'm very thankful for their kindness, and I hope their business booms the rest of the year into 2024!! Cheers 🤙🏼
