On my first visit, I got moldy garlic and bad quality onions. But couldn’t blame them, they looked decent on the outside. Probably they were sitting there for quite some time.However today I got a pregnancy craving for home made chicken wings in a parmesan rub seasoning and both the frozen uncooked chicken wings and the seasoning were expired.Expired chicken is unacceptable. Please do better.

(updated Oct. 2022)The first time I reviewed this Lucky, I gave it 3 stars. This time I have to lower it to 1 star.When I shopped at the store several days ago, I saw that a few of the mozzarella cheese on the shelf were already expired (one expired 10 months ago). Obviously, I didn't get the cheese. I bought a few other items, and one of them was heavy cream.When I opened the heavy cream after I got home, I saw mildew inside. Yuck!!The cream is not supposed to expire until a month later, and the seal is intact. Could the spoilage be caused by poor storage at Lucky's warehouse or store? Who knows. All I know is that from now on, I will only shop at this location only if I have to; and if I have to, I will avoid dairy products at all costs.Besides the bad quality of the products, the customer service seemed to be about the same as before. The check-out staff members were slow as ever.Maybe it's about time that this Lucky give way to other better supermarkets!(Aug. 2021)Although this Lucky store is currently under exterior construction, the inside is well stocked.Much improvements can be made on the checkout. During my most recent trip, the checkout staff didn't seem to know what they were doing. The two lines opened were both held up. So I went to self-checkout, expecting it to be faster. But the system wasn't that user friendly. Interesting, the self-checkout staff (didn't look friendly) knew how to maneuver the system, but didn't seem to understand much English.If you shop here, highly recommend to avoid using the self-checkout.

The Lucky Supermarket- located in the Edgewater Shopping Center has a great selection of wines. Actually more wine inventory than the Safeway at Woodlake in San Mateo. The cake and bakery section is very small but I can observe large ovens for baking. The Lucky store bakery offers 3 Mexican Bolillo(Pan Francés) French Bread for $1.00. The produce section is very small but very clean and organized. If you are the neighborhood for a walk along the canal, I recommend a visit to the Supermarket.

Great deli sandwiches!!! All the time!Beautiful cakes in all different themes (and especially for any holiday that seems remotely possible, hint: if you have six year olds they celebrate every holiday at school! And they do it at this Lucky's, too!).I always get my milk there and they have a great selection of sugar free syrups sugar-free Jell-O sugar-free products in general. (ADHD child on a low sugar high meat diet, this is the supermarket for you!).Plus they're like a neighborhood friendly market with a lot of people that you'll see regularly. I really love you all! Thank you!UPDATE:Don't miss out on the rotisserie chicken salad in the deli! It's probably some of the best I've ever had! It's creamy, with perfectly shredded chicken, and hints of celery. I bought this at 9:00 p.m. last night, normally people have outdated food but this was far from outdated. This was very fresh and located in the deli refrigerator section.(You know you have a great grocery store when you return home, screaming kids, and everything that you bought is so good it's almost gone and still good for days past any date if you needed to keep it that long!)....plus the customer service and short lines are an added bonus!

Terrible experience. Middle day Saturday there is only one line attendant. The line is halfway across the store. I have 2 items, paper towels and a 6pack, I ask the black lady at self checkout if she can help me at the register as I have been hundreds of times before, but she insists she can’t and I have to wait in the regular register line. I wait 20+ minutes to finally check out, the whole time she is doing nothing standing at self checkout with 10+ people in the one open regular line. Terrible service.

Fairly good place with decent prices. I usually go to Safeway close by but these guys have Straus brand milk always on the shelf. Self checkout works pretty well so avoid lines on regular checkout.

Customer service is terrible and slow every time I go. All of their clearance and sale stickers are misleading and every-time you get to the register it turns out the item advertised as 2 for 1 isn’t on sale or 50% it’s not true

Shopping carts need tune up to roll correctly. Easy in out and convenient w ample parking. Adequate product selection and prices are competitive. Check out lanes are perpetually understaffed and cashiers always look stressed out. Update 6-27: went in late evening a couple nights ago for milk; self service check out was closed and I had to go through regular cashier lane . . . no other customers in line so no wait and the cashier could not have any reason to be stressed out, but unfortunately he still didn't give me any reason to change my previous rating. I fully agree with everyone's comments about staff in deli and produce - they are great.

High prices and unfriendly staff. I guess they're the only grocery close by so they get away with horrible prices. Oscar Mayer bacon cost literally twice the price as Walmart or Amazon. I love the extra employee who rudely just puts your food back in the cart and doesn't speak. This store should just be self check out.

Watch expiration dates as they often have expired goods on the shelf. Rarely more than one checker, long lines are common. Today couldn't purchase deli items as there was no one working the deli counter.

I love this Lucky for a couple of reasons. First, it is right across the street from my work. Second, it is much less crowded than the Safeway I normally go to in Redwood City.I have always gone in and found exactly what I was looking for. Most of the workers are friendly. I almost feel like Lucky is the hidden secret in Foster City. I will continue to come here for my grocery needs.

Always a pleasant shopping experience here. Good prices, good selection, and typically short lines just about all the time. The staff is helpful and make it easy to find what you are looking for.

So they have new flooring and better paint scheme, which is a plus. But, the floorplan is awkward to me. The frozen food and bread aisle are on the other side of the household items. Why separate the food with detergents and toothpaste? Also, I find the produce to be ok, but not as fresh as other grocery stores.

My favourite grocery store is Grocery Outlet. While the selection is much better at Lucky the prices are much better at Grocery Outlet. If you are not very price sensitive than Lucky will likely be a better choice for you.

Gotta love Lucky. The employees at this branch are always so nice and helpful, particularly the deli man. Always wearing a smile and happy to serve you. This was also the first place I ever noticed a redbox... one of those dvd machines and a Coin Star.Good selection of everything.Unfortunately the produce is hit and miss... so I usually have to go to both Lucky and Safeway in order to fill my needs which is a pain...

This is an older location and it shows. The staff is good and the store in clean and reasonably well stocked, but it is feels quite small. It's certainly convenient to the area and access is easy. But overall it's just OK.

Store not crowded. Shelves mostly stocked and we found the grocery items we wanted. Plenty of surface parking and handicapped parking spaces available. Store is handicap accessible.

If Costco wasn't where we had to go every week, we'd make Lucky's our go to. Although because I go so infrequently, I get lost so easily and can take just as much time there looking for two items as I do Costco getting a dozen item's.

Great choices for groceries, especially milk and juice and beer. My only beef is, they didn't accept my Indian driver license for ID and were quite rude about it, treating me as though I was stealing.

Large clean store with plenty of parking. Of course that could be different when the store's not deserted. As often happens, however, the sale item we went for was sold out.

The store is well stocked with grocery, stationery, chocolates,flowers, etc. The staff is helpful. Being in foster city it is definitely the go to place for folks staying near by.

Terrible customer service in the deli. Staff was ride, extremely slow and really clearly did not want the business. One walking around with nothing to do and should be helping. Unbelievable
