The Landmark is a good place to stay for short term. The rooms are ok but I am one person I didn't need a double room. I was told that I could cook in the room, but there is only a microwave in a small spot. Otherwise, the staff is small, and they are polite, ready for rotations coming in and out. There were some pets that I heard barking when I was walking through the hallway, but not enough to turn me away.

We arrived late at night, I m just writing this review to make you aware that you won’t be able to go in the hotel if you don’t have a special authorization since the hotel is located in a military area and not everyone can have an access to it.Not very happy about this because we booked the hotel since it was accommodating for our trip to go to the Death Valley but there are no information on the fact that you cannot enter the military area when you arrive. We drove 3 hours for nothing and had to book another hotel for the night.

Staying at the Landmark Inn at Fort Irwin presents a unique set of experiences. As the only hotel on base, barring the exclusive on-base suites, it holds a monopoly of convenience for those visiting the base. However, this exclusivity comes with its own challenges.Security Concerns: The security measures seem to be lax; it’s not uncommon to find exit doors propped open at night, which can be unsettling for guests expecting a secure environment.Location & Accessibility: For those looking to explore off-base accommodations, the nearest alternatives are a significant 45-minute drive away in Barstow, making the Landmark Inn the most accessible option despite its flaws.Ambiance & Comfort: The hotel’s age is apparent, with a distinct oldness that permeates the atmosphere, leading to an unpleasant odor in the rooms. Some guests might find the ambiance reminiscent of the eerie setting in the movie “The Shining.” The comfort level is further compromised by the inconsistent temperature control, with lukewarm showers and scalding hot sinks.Amenities: The amenities leave much to be desired. The coffee machine, when functional, produces coffee that might disappoint enthusiasts of the brew. Internet connectivity is hit-or-miss, disrupting both leisure and work-related activities.Service & Staff: Service experiences can be inconsistent. Wake-up calls are reliably early, but the suggested solution to unwanted calls—unplugging the phone—is less than ideal. The staff generally meets the minimum standard, which may not align with the expectations of some guests.Value & Rewards: The cost per night raises questions about value, especially when considering the government per diem rate. Guests have noted that they’ve found better accommodations at more affordable rates elsewhere. Additionally, the absence of IHG affiliation means frequent travelers miss out on accruing loyalty points.Dining: The breakfast selection doesn’t escape criticism either, described as mediocre with an emphasis on cheap, calorie-dense options rather than quality or variety. In summary, while the Landmark Inn’s location on Fort Irwin base is convenient, the overall experience is marred by a range of issues from security to comfort and value. It serves as a reminder that sometimes, convenience comes with compromises.

This hotel is the only hotel within close proximity to Fort Irwin. I stayed here when my daughter had her baby and, did not want to make a daily 40 minute drive back-and-forth to a nicer hotel off the base. I spent an extra nine dollars to upgrade to a suite. Which was well worth it because I was on the top floor with no one above me. I had a much more spacious and quiet room. I was here in July during the base leave, meaning the base was pretty empty overall I’m not sure if that contributed to it being less busy and quiet. The decor of the rooms is horrendous. Green carpet, red wall paint. Bring slippers. I did not want to touch the carpet with bare feet. The mattress was not comfortable. My biggest complaint about the room was the curtains. They are not black out and do not go to the floor. So every day I was awake at sunrise. Also, temperatures were rising in July and my air conditioning unit did not work in the bedroom of the suite. So I had to lower the temperature in the living room area to keep the bedroom cool. Which was very annoying. I did have housekeeping services daily, my bed was made, and fresh towels brought in. Which was very nice. I did have to go to the front desk to ask for a laundry bag and some lotion. Those were not included in the room. The breakfast was marginal. The bagels and bread choice were hard and stale literally every day like they came out of a freezer. There were fresh fruit cups in the little mini fridge that were palatable. And, apples, oranges, bananas in a fruit bowl to take back to your room or on the go. Not much as far as gluten-free or dairy free choices. I would love to never stay here again. But, unfortunately, there are no other options if visiting family at Fort Irwin so, just prepare yourself.

I've stayed in plenty of hotels across numerous installations... I would say that the convenience of the hotel being on the base is the only perk. The staff is super friendly, but the overall quality of service delivered to the customer needs improvement. This picture is the minimal effort from the owners to its customers. The food was just enough to make you go to the shoppette and buy the "tornado roll" that may have been there cooking for a few days. At least they yey and hopefully the owners improve on this location.

The building is quite old. The elevator Takes forever, just remember to bring your own pillow co'z their pillows are hard as rocks other than that the service is very good all staff members are accommodating and very helpful and nice. Rooms smelled really clean, even at the lobby it always smelled clean and fresh. Housekeeping always made sure we had what we need. It's always a plus for me when it's pet friendly.

The facility needs an update BADLY, but the staff is fantastic. The furniture is worn out- not just worn, but worn out. I figured out about the third night to sleep in the middle of the bed. If you are on one side or the other, your back will protest in the morning. The staff, on the other hand, was exceptionally helpful and friendly. They're probably making the best of it, so I did too.

Okay, so the INN is old; if you're looking for the Hilton, this ain't it. Rooms are a bit old, furniture is old and looks like standard barracks furniture. Nothing fancy. Breakfast is simple but not bad at all. The service is really good, professional personnel. Always greeting and smiling at guests. It's close to everything and a pretty clean place overall.

The only positive about this place was the location. I called before booking, and the man who answered the phone was not pleasant. This hotel charges more than the government rate. I asked about why they charge more. He said it's only for active duty and people on government orders. To me, this means they are just gouging military families and federal contractors. Thursday before my trip, I booked the room through my company's travel agent because of the on base location. The next closest hotel was a 30-minute drive. My mistake. Monday, I arrived at the hotel, and they weren't ready for me. The man at the desk blamed me for making the reservation late. Maybe not their fault, but blaming customers is poor policy. The room was pretty standard cheap motel style; two queen beds, mini fridge, small desk, wifi. One of the two beds was broken. The vent in the bathroom was caked with dust. There was peeling wallpaper in the bathroom as well. The shower head was corroded. The office chair was so uncomfortable that I had to buy a new one for a place to sit. Every day, the breakfast was the same. Nothing bad, nothing special. When I checked out several days later, I was struggling with a luggage cart. The doors to the lobby don't have disabled access buttons to open the doors hands-free. I made it out the door, and the ramp was blocked by a delivery truck. I was trying to get the cart over the curb while the same guy who checked me in was sweeping about 3 feet away. Did he offer any assistance? None. Sad end to a bad stay. One more thing, this place has opted for a playground instead of a pool. There is a park across the street. It's in the middle of the desert. For a place that's not family friendly anyway, just disappointing.

The hotel from the outside looks so nice and so does the lobby even. However, as soon as you turn the corner after you leave the lobby you see the real deal. Rooms are old and dated. The bed is NOT COMFORTABLE! This is the first time I’ve ever stayed in a hotel and the bed was uncomfortable. And as much as they charge for these rooms, they should be able to afford nice mattresses & to renovate more than just the lobby. Our ice machine didn’t work the whole time we stayed and the drink machine was empty half the time as well. We stayed at hotels WAY nicer than this on the way here for around the same price. But they know since people don’t have any other options they can continue to charge those prices. Just one more place taking advantage of our soldiers and their families. So sad. We didn’t encounter any very friendly staff as others have experienced either. Nothing pleasant or good I can say about our stay here.

Gave a star because I had to. Would give half a star if I could. Do not recommend. The service of this facility is a direct reflection of how little they care about the individuals who stay here. And the fact that the preponderance of individuals staying here are Soldiers clearly indicates how little they care about welcoming anyone to Fort Irwin. I was repeated harassed on when I was checking out 3 days early, despite my check out date clearly identified on my reservation. A friend of mine also staying in the hotel who was checking out had someone come in unannounced before he left.No housekeeping even though I stayed for a week, significant periods of time with no one manning the desk, their phone system doesn’t work, and they obviously prioritize the appearance of the hotel over actual quality - hence the updated exterior and lobby while leaving the rooms untouched. At least it the water was hot and it didn’t have bed bugs. This is a $60 motel at best.

Not worth 100/night. As mentioned by others, no room service but they place an envelope on the night stand asking that you tip the staff. Water pressure is lacking although at least the water gets hot. Mattresses are soft and you sink into them if that's your preference. Breakfast is a joke, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, and pastries. The coffee is one of the commercial machines where they mix a solution with water, it's on the watery side. They charge you for laundry and half the machines are broken. Next time ill stay off post and just make the drive. I'll lose some time but quality of life should be better.

If you want an instant trip back to the 90s, you're gonna love this place. There was a (thankfully dead) roach in our bathroom, the bathroom door wouldn't open all the way, the tub was rusty and the closet had no doors BUT the beds were comfy enough and mostly clean. The luggage trolleys were so gross and covered in hair of all varieties that we opted to carry and lug all our stuff instead. Breakfast wasn't awful but nothing to write home about. The staff were friendly and helpful though and that makes a difference. There is a playground but it's old and made of wood. My 6 year old said he gives it 1 star and is surprised he didn't get a splinter 😂

Hotel was fine. Continental breakfast was normal, all things considered. Not much competition on base so the hotel isn't as nice as it should be, but it's definitely convenient so that made up for it. That being said, some of the rooms did smell like smoke the last time I was there (not mine, thankfully, but co-workers). The staff was as accommodating as they could be and customer service was better than expected, considering it's on an Army base.

I stayed here for 6 days for work. The front desk was so friendly. Their continental breakfast was good. There is one person that caught my eye the most, every time I saw this person she was working hard.. this is the maintenance lady (older with a limp) I can see she takes pride on her work. She was also super friendly!...I only had my room clean twice and they did a great job..Thanks!!!

Stayed here for 8 nights, wonderful experience, we are a family of 5, the hotel staff were very accommodating. Housekeeping crew was on point, every time we leave, we look forward to coming back to a freshly made room and we always do. The beds are so comfortable, pillows are always fluffed with each turndown. Love the playground in the middle of the hotel, they have grills so you can cook dinner and not always have to order fast food. The ladies in the front desk are always there with a smile and my kids love them because they always give them lollipops😜Free breakfast, waffles and boiled eggs, fresh fruits, cereals, bagels and muffins, one less meal to pay for. Overall, I would stay here again, thank you Landmark Inn!

So far the experience dealing with the landmark has been terrible. I couldn't get a house for around 1 and a half months. I've had to move rooms three times, each time incurring a pet fee. Also, there is a tourism fee no one mentions that occurs on the bill...cause I'm a tourist. The laundry area is in worse shape than most army barracks and you have pay for it. Everyone moving to Fort Irwin needs to looks up the On Suites on fort Irwin and consider renting there. Book a month or more in advance. The landmark inn doesn't deserve any more traffic. Also the beds are horrible, rock hard. Be prepared to wake up stiff as a board every day you are here.

I can tell you our team was worried after reading the reviews here. But upon arrival and getting into the rooms and turning on the A/C..., much relief! Beds and linens are great! Slept awesome. Hotel quiet. Staff very polite and sweet, greeted us coming and going to work everyday. Breakfast is great, quite a spread! Best granola I have ever had. Of course like most post hotels, you feel safe and everyone is friendly. Not sure what everyone else was upset about in these reviews. Our experience was very nice. In spite of being in an older building, they have done a wonderful job of upkeep, cleanliness and service. Kudos. Thank you!

I was a bit disappointed with this hotel. Firstly, there is wallpaper peeling off of the walls and only one elevator works.Secondly, the suite did not provide a full sized fridge or cooking area. Every other military accommodation we have stayed at has a tiny stove top at minimum and a midsized fridge. They also had lots of kitchen cupboards, but did not provide any cookware, dishes, cups, or silverware for a family to survive while awaiting housing. These would have been helpful things during transition. The staff was kind and helpful.

I've been at the hotel for 3 days now and my room hasn't been cleaned one time. I went to the front desk and spoke with several employees about this issue. I was told everything from short of staff to sometimes they can't get to it. I have never had a issue before but for paying 118.00 the service should reflect.
