The owner is AMAZING, I have never owned reptiles but decided to adopt a bearded dragon, Ian taught me everything to properly care for a dragon and for him to thrive! I also adopted a tortoise and he’s a happy and healthy and growing like crazy, not breed and kept in terrible conditions like pet chain stores and constantly sick, This is Ian’s passion and it shows in the animals! I go for all my reptile needs, It’s been the best 3 years!!!

I love this place! Ian is extremely knowledgeable, they even have live feeder mice and rats! As well as crickets, which are banded crickets so they're more nutritious then the crickets sold in most big brand pet stores. In my experience they also live longer. I highly recommend visiting this shop before anywhere else for reptile and reptile food needs ☺️ Since they are a rescue, if I'm in a hurry I always call ahead and always understand if they can't always be there because sometimes reptile emergencies do come up. If it wasn't for them, neglected/unwanted reptiles in this town would have nowhere to go. I'm always grateful for The Wise Frog 🙏🏻

Absolutely wonderful place! We drove about 30 min to get here and completely worth the wait. All the animals looked really healthy and active, the owner was awesome to talk to. She was super knowledgeable, and gave us advice on sizing up feeders for our ball python. Additionally all their feeder mice and rats looked healthy, plus their cages were really clean. Definitely where we will be headed every week to buy Feed.

We were very sad that our bearded dragon was just getting sicker and sicker and no matter what we looked up we were just doing something wrong so we decided to take him to this rescue to turn him over to them and get him the help he deserved. The lady there was super nice she told us exactly what we were doing wrong and was so happy we decided to turn him in instead of possibly making him worse. If you get a new reptile and are not quite sure how to take care of it or just don't understand something about them call this women and she will be very happy to help you take better care of your reptile pets.

Awesome spot with super knowledgeable owner. Highly recommend supporting local, Ian is one of my favorite people I've met in the last 5 years. Might want to call ahead as she sometimes closes to go on animal rescues, being the animal lover she is. Hard to be upset about that. Ill keep going back regardless.

0 stars if I could. This place sucks...well most likely...if I WERE ABLE TO GO INSIDE. 3rd time showing up and waiting over 30min-hr after opening and nobody is here. Gas is $6+ a gallon and you're wasting not only our time but our money. You're open 4hrs a day, least you could do is actually be there, or idk answer the phone when people call to see if your hours have changed. Tried to support a local small business, guess I'm shopping online. Cheaper anyways and at least I get a response.

If you are looking to buy a reptile or even just have questions this is the place to go. My experience was fantastic here. The animals were all incredibly healthy and friendly. When I went to PetSmart in search of the right snake for me I felt lost. The snakes were not socialized at all. They all tried to strike right away and were uneasy. The comfort I felt at Exotic Reptiles was such a nice change from the chain stores I had been to. All of the snakes were friendly and I found my new snake child 😊 I will be returning here weekly for live food for my beautiful snake. I really appreciate the amount of knowledge the owner had. I was a little worried about owning my first reptile and now after just one visit I'm comfortable and I know that if I ever should need advice this store will be there for me. So awesome. If I could give 10 stars I would.

Very friendly, Informative, and knowledgeable. Helped me with everything I need! Don't waste your time with big name pet stores. Ian at Exotic loves all her reptiles and adopts them out to their forever homes! Adoption prices are low! If your even thinking about wanting to get into reptiles, this is the place you want to go. They have everything from older rescued animals to babies!

What nice one of a kind store that really adds something to a City which lacks in many things. The staff are very helpful and most importantly are very good with the animals. I felt safe walking through the store, the animals seem healthy, they don't keep anything dangerous, and overall it is a fun experience to visit Exotic Reptiles.

Worst experience with a pet store ever. We LOVE Reptiles and wanted to see their inventory to potentially purchase new pets, however, we barely walked through the door when some rude lady started barking at us to, "get out and that they're only open to online customers!" How could I adopt a new addition to our family without seeing if it came from a safe humane environment. It is obviously only about money and fear-mongering with these people. I have not been treated so poorly by a business owner before. Do NOT come here, I don't even know if they are really selling animals or just animal parts.

Unfortunately this place has disappointed me a lot. I've been trying to go and check out all the reptiles and get some feed for my pets, but everytime I go its always closed even though the hours on the website say they're open. Waste of time, and waste of gas. They don't answer the phone or messages or comments on their social media. Horrible way to run a business. Don't come here if you have a far drive, you will most likely show up to a closed store.

I love going in just to look around sometimes or maybe I'll go to get some feed there and the prices are always good. The owner is very kind and doesn't sell sick reptiles, sometimes she takes in unwell reptiles to nurture them back to health. They have an iguana and I think a tegu that just hang out and eat fruit, definitely stop by if you're in the market for a new reptile friend.

I have been studying herpetology for 25 years and am passionate for the well being of animals. This is by far the best "pet store" I have ever seen in person. Every cage was clean, all had clean water, and no dead animals lingering. Many chain pet stores can't say the same. The woman was extremely knowledgeable and well versed. All of their reptiles are rescues. Not one animal in there was sick from their neglect, but instead being rehabilitated to full health so a home could be found. This place is too notch and I will only shop there in the future. Great establishment and great people.

I bought a corn snake and he was very healthy and very tamed. I also bought mice from her and the mice were a good price. She’s very knowledgeable and help me have the best care possible for my snake.🦎🐍

I do not recommend this place. Very unprofessional. I ordered dubia roaches and asked for specific sizes and wanted them in different bags. She put all them together and tried lying to the person I had pick them up saying that I told her to put it all in one bag. She said it would be an inconvenience for her to separate them. Then forward to few weeks after I asked if she has dubias and she said no but when I had my mom ask she had all different sizes. Please tell me why I asked for medium and larges and she gave me baby roaches!!! I didn’t asked for that and when I asked where the mediums were she said there was a mixture. I’m sorry but when a paying customer asks you for specific sizes there’s a reason why. She has lost me as a customer for good now.

Does not answer the phone, does not respond to facebook messenger, and is not at the store when you knock like the sign says during business hours for 2 weeks. I've literally tried everything. I'd be more than willing to up my review if I could get in contact ☺️Update. Upon this review I was contacted immediately by a very angry person giving an excuse possible but none of it added up or made any coherent sense. I was also harassed on face book by the owner and all their friends until I deleted the post. Stay away from this place. I was even threatened to "be careful"

I've gotten several animals from here: 2 iguanas, a bearded dragon, and a leopard gecko. All were taken exceptional care of and were very healthy. They also have many rescue animals, which is a very noble endeavor.

I went in there and they were very nice to me, the lady had a lot of information I went with my sister the first time, then took my kids back and we decided that we wanted to adopt one of the bearded dragons she gave me a lot of information on him and I was able to contact her through Facebook for any other questions that I have and and she was very polite and I would recommend this place to anybody and I will be going for all my feeder and if I buy any more reptiles there too. I also don't even live in Visalia but I will drive there just for this place.

Located conveniently on south mooney, this local pet shop has competitive pricing and a wide range of reptiles to choose from. I am sad to say that for me this is where the good part of the review ends. I visited this shop wanting to get some more information on what i could do for my bearded dragon who is 4 months old, as I've been feeding it insects which I've purchased online but wished to try to find a local source to visit and become more involved with in time. I was greeted by a woman who said she was the owner, and who boasted an impressive 10 years education in the well-being of reptiles. Before coming to the store i'd been researching the best ways to care for and feed my pet, and when i brought up what i'd learned to the owner she rather rudely shut me down and went on to say that everything that i'd learned online was wrong and that i was in fact killing my bearded dragon. This was surprising to me as my bearded dragon has no stress marks and is at a healthy weight, and is as active as described for its age. However this did not stop the owner from continuing to prod at my knowledge, all the while making me feel very unwelcome and ignorant to what is the correct way to care for my bearded dragon. She proceeded to show me an example of what a bearded dragon of the same age "should" look like and looking at it in the 20 gallon breeder tank...which is far too small as far as i'm aware.. it was very thin and did not look as healthy as the one i had at home. This did not stop the owner from ensuring me however, that i would be the factor in killing my pet by refusing to feed it superworms which as far as i'd researched for months were much too big for its age. All in all, i'm very disappointed in the management of this store and the way that the customer is dismissed, belittled and treated in a generally rude fashion. I was looking to be a long time patron of this local reptile store and was hoping to make a lasting relationship with the only non-chain pet store which could meet my needs, unfortunately this experience has caused me to shy away from this business and even write this review. I might also add that nowhere in the owner's store are her "10 years of education" posted anywhere, further making her claims of knowledge of the well-being of these animals all the more dubious.

I highly recommend that anyone even thinking about having a reptile as a pet go see Ian at Exotic Reptiles BEFORE taking the leap!! Ian can advise you on types of reptiles, how to set up the right environment, care, feeding, etc., etc., etc.!!Ian knows her stuff and is passionate about helping you and your pet!!!

Me and my wife have been trying to come here the past couple weeks always closed. Was referred to come see Ian the owner cause Eric Johnson from E and M referred me to see you and said you were great....I disagree...my wife has shown up mutiple times here... no answer even the buisness owner at the tattoo shop said you were there and still didn't open...I understand if you have family priorities but if thats the case update your times that way we dont have waste ours...wants it revised...wish I could go no stars but it doesn't give me that option sorry Ian not sorry..maybe next time you'll be a decent owner and give a decent response instead of arguing with potential clients...but hey whatever gets your rocks off to make you feel better I didnt lose money...

Great people work here and super friendly. Rescue animals and offer them for adoption. Great for live feed for any reptiles. Better option than large retailers. Recommend 100%

This place is amazing. A hole in the wall but with so much compassion and love for all reptiles. From rescues to finding homes to the reptiles they have definitely a place to check out and support
