Tri Tip done right... this delicious master piece was worth the wait! Those tater tots were so crispy and delectable. The BBQ sauce was tasty and the ice cream swirl was so satisfying that you want more. Thanks for lunch. Definitely a return visit... looking for something good for lunch and your in the coolest town of Esparto... stop by Hog Canyon Deli! Absolutely delicious!

Great place. I have only been one time but the chorizo breakfast burrito was amazing and the homemade salsa was some of the best I've ever had.I was slightly concerned. I'm a 2nd amendment supporter and have no problem with firearms. One of the customers, who appeared to be a regular, was walking around with a F&#king sword strapped to him.I got no issue with guns but something about a guy with a God damn sword kinda creeped me out where it was hard to relax. I spent the whole time just kinda watching the guy thinking "it's 2023 why in the hell does this guy have a Sword"

Ordered a trip tip salad and the meat was pretty darn good. Son as cashier and Mom in the kitchen who by the way was very pleasant to speak with. Will surely recommend.

I used to work there and let me just say, if I could give negative starts I would. She should be shut down immediately, health code violations left and right!We'd drop things on the floor and the owner, Tracy would still force us to dust it off to give to the costumer. We used to shred the tri-tip into the sink where we washed our hands. Leave out raw meat for unsafe amounts of hours. We weren't allowed to throw away moldy or burnt bread, expired vegetables, freezer burnt food, or anything that would waste Ms Tracy's money, she'd take off moldy parts and tell us to still use it. There's a sign in the kitchen that said "no food left behind". I don't recommend goin to this restaurant owned by a crook. Everything was mostly frozen food you deep fry anyways. We never got any breaks and when I asked about breaks my coworkers and the owner laughed in my face. We also never got paid for over time. She said she'd just "buy us lunch" but I didn't want her expired food, I wanted my earned money. The most disgusting disturbing ownership I've ever seen. She would lie to baby Jesus for a dollar.Always taking advantage of young kids looking for a job who didn't have courage to stand up to her. Took money from my last check because she didn't want to pay herself to rewrite it when I never received it in the mail. Much more I could say, but I feel this is enough to show you what kind of business this con runs. If you don't believe me just look around or ask anyone who isn't afraid to speak up.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian would have better produce in the grass across the street.Kid-friendliness: She loves taking advantage of kids

I’m really not one to judge but the service was terrible, all the employees were teenage girls and most of the time they would gossip and they took 20 minutes just to give me my fries. And one other thing that I noticed was that there was a group of teenage skater boys that were constantly let in the back and I don’t think that’s very sanitary considering that they were out in the streets. Last thing that I noticed was that the employees were dressed very inappropriately, Don’t waste your time and spend your money here.

Hog canyon is located on the corner of Yolo Avenue and Woodland Avenue. It's open early, and you can always find locals here drinking coffee in the morning and enjoying breakfast. The owner, Tracy, is usually on site and always has a friendly word and a great attitude. Everything you want from breakfast, lunch, or dinner is served hot and fresh.

It's a small place, kind of mom and pop type. Pork is their specialty. Great sandwiches. When all the other restaurants are closed, they are open. You won't be disappointed.Kid-friendliness: This restaurant features benches both inside and outside. The menu is also more kid-friendly.

My family of 6 went to Hog Canyon today to celebrate my daughter-in-law’s birthday. We all had their Tri-Tip Sandwich meal. The sandwiches were delicious and the crispy fries were so yummy. We ate outside and toward the end of our meal the staff delivered a birthday sundae and sang happy birthday to my daughter-in-law. I didn’t ask for the sundae, they overheard us talking about her birthday and were so kind to make her lunch extra special. What a wonderful place!! We will definitely be going back.

I was really surprised to find the quality of the food that Hog Canyon has in such a small town like Esparto. I had the bacon cheeseburger and fries. My significant other had the 3 item omelette. Both were fantastic and the service was there was A+. Super friendly and helpful. Not to mention a great cook. I will definitely be returning.

The food there is great! I had a problem with the staff. They took our order and we went and sat down to wait for our food. Somebody for the afternoon shift came in and walked in off the street and walked straight into the kitchen and started touching the register . The girl was going to make our vanilla shake, she asked the guy to hand her a cup. He grabbed this Styrofoam cup and handed it to her. I asked her to get another cup because he had not yet washed his hands. she seemed very annoyed with me threw the cup on the floor and proceeded to give an attitude. When I told her thank you so much and have a nice day she just ignored me. even when there's not a pandemic going on anybody who's working in a kitchen should wash their hands the second they walk into the kitchen. I wish I could give this place a better rating because their food is fantastic.

New owners recently took over. Small restaurant, good parking, one handicap parking space, outside seating, friendly staff and they are still learning. There are two large tv's on the wall. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. Menu offers variety of pizzas, sandwiches, burgers and salads. Lunch specials are good, especially for the student crowd. Can get warm inside, especially when they don't have the air turned on.

I attened this place last Friday afternoon on my way through town. I do not always go this way but had been working at UC Davis. You can smell the aroma from the smoker at least a block away. This is in a great location easy to find on the corner in a building that appears to be an old gas station who knows i could be wrong. As I walked in I was instantly greated by the staff and talked to in a very personable manner. The service was very great that alone would make me go back. The lady who was taking orders suggested I try their smoked tri tip sandwich. I was not let down one bit. The tri tip sandwich had the perfect amount of bbq sauce and a great smokey sweet flavorful taste. The sandwich also had grilled onions on it wich was an amazing touch. It is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. The atmosphere in this place was awesome with locals coming in being greated by name. I loved it i highly recommend trying this place of your ever in town or passing by. Great service great food i will definitely be coming back maybe ill try the pulled pork sandwich next.

Update Dec. 8TH 2020: If hungry man dinner commercials were real then Mejo cooked it; she is my go to now.OVERALL GOOD FOOD AND SERVICE. It's better than the Ravine which is supposed to be like a nice steakhouse--it's not. There's a couple people in Hog Canyon who make damn good food and then a couple who dont. The main lady manager gal is a doll and I appreciate her effort. The only other issue I might have is that it's a bit pricey but you do get quite a big portion at this place And if there is ever any issues with the order they're really good about fixing it and making it right. If they could keep prices the same which are pretty well priced for them I would say but just do a little bit more on the cooking side as in some talent they could be a wonderful place that had a lot more business because the food selection is great but the food is avg+- depending on who makes it.

5/5/21 I'm completely editing my previous review as EVERYONE is entitled to bad days and so many variations of events may have occurred such as new staff or perhaps understaffed that day. We have eaten there so many times since that initial post, Hog Canyon deserves an updated & current review of their establishment. Hog Canyon has the best and juiciest Bacon, Cheeseburgers in Yolo County. Their fries are fantastic! fresh, hot, huge portions that you are left so stuffed with great prices They have great pizza we especially enjoy their combinaions. Our grandkids LOVE the Canadian Pizza. Their crust is very good. Homemade huge salads are very filling. Do NOT Miss their Tri-Tip sandwiches which are packed with excellently cooked Tri-Tip roast cooked over a great oak wood heat source can be smelled a mile away from the beginning of town at the signal light. Which light? THE ONLY LIGHT!!! *lol* Honestly folks I have no horse in this race! They truly have great food and you will NOT be disappointed. After eating here, you'll never want to eat at a fast food joint again!! Their staff are friendly, aim to please and make sure you're their priority and truly believe in customer satisfaction. Oh ya, the milkshakes are bomb, as well as, their homemade cookies. They always sell out of cookies. Thank You Hog Cyn for serving our wonderful little community with excellence.

Great food for a good price! One of the few places to go out to eat. They offer sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, and more. Their wings and chicken strips are super good and the portions aren't lacking! Definite must stop if you come through town!

Would of 5 stars but 2 cold turkey sandwhiches, 1 double cheeseburger with fries, 3 small fries, 57.00 dollars. Wife came home told her she was overcharged by about 20$. And was. Food was 6 stars if 35.00 dollars.
