I’ve shopped at the Food 4 Less in Escondido for over 30 years. My mother used to shop there too. Currently I live across the street from them. Even though I live next to Stater Bros (before they closed) I still preferred to shop at Food 4 Less. I’m retired from the Grocery Industry so I don’t mind bagging my own groceries. I get along with all the cashiers and know most of them by name. Today, however, Marcela D. over charged me around $10! I was in 3 weeks ago and calculated $101.18 which came out to the exact charge at the register! Today as I was going through the checkout, the customer before me stated ‘You over charged me!’ I noticed that although I was suppose to pay around $57.00, the total came to $67.00. I looked over the receipt and didn’t find the discrepancy until I got home. I was charged $7.49 for something called ‘MMS PN SUP 18 080’. She may have also over charged me on some produce, but I was mostly concerned with being reimbursed for the $7.49. I’ve worked in Grocery, a charge like this doesn’t happen ‘accidentally’. When I told her she did it intentionally and that I wanted to speak to the manager, I had to say it several times before a manager was called. I showed the receipt to a couple of other cashiers prior to showing it to Marcela. No one knew what the charge could be for. When we bump into someone ‘accidentally’ we apologize. The facial expression and body language shows a sincere heartfelt apology. The same can be said of overcharging someone. I was very disappointed with the ‘manager’ Nick. He had to be a 3rd or 4th Manager as the actual Manager would have at least apologized. Instead he defended her! The only thing Marcela felt sorry about was that she was caught! And Nick only felt sorry for her because she was caught- twice in a row in fact. Marcela did not apologize to the customer in front of me that she ALSO overcharged. They are both corrupt and only care about making money for the company. Beware of Marcela, she intentionally overcharges and won’t apologize when she gets caught. One more note, the customer before me was Asian. Maybe she only overcharges those who aren’t Mexican??

This is my regular store to shop at! I like the store because the staff is friendly and I always get good deals on good quality food here! I've been shopping at the store for 5+ years now. Tonight at 8:45 was the 1st time I've ever been truly disappointed in the store. There are 2 express lanes open and only one regular service lane. There are other employees who are working but walking around supposedly on break from what the head checker told me. The lines are extremely backed up and the answer that I got from the head checker (African American lady with white glasses) where the other cashiers were, she stated that they were on break and going to be back from break in 5 more minutes. It is now 30+ minutes later and they're not here! I'm truly disappointed in whoever is running Food-4-Less on Broadway in Escondido in the evening of August 07, 2020. The manager should be ashamed of themselves for treating the customers like this!

They charged us 11.99 for meat that was priced differently on the shelf since on the shelf it was 5.99. They did not help us or refund us for the meat. This is a SCAM!!!

There's a lot of things at Food for Less that's less than acceptable. Lots of seasoned meat, that means it's on its last go round. I bought the seafood salad to eat for dinner after a long day I felt that I should add more thing so I turned it out in a plate only to find rotten lettuce on the bottom. The whole thing was not edible, I was livid.Cheaper prices don't mean rotten food, was is it the demographics. Y'all should be ashamed to sell rotten food. I learned from a chef not to buy seasoned meat.Do better for your customers. I won't be back. In that area they have a wonderful market called Major Market. I was with someone who wanted to go here instead of there.I live too far to take that slime back.

Groceries are so affordable here, of you're willing to deal with minor bruises on fruit. Make sure you're comfortable bagging your own groceries because checkers do not do it for you.

Management at this location is very unprofessional. When asking a simple question about company policies regarding setting up a kiosk that helps homeless get phones for free, I was cut off and rudely interrupted multiple times. I did not even finish my first sentence before I was cut off. I did not get a greeting nor did I get a goodbye. It seemed to me that the guy was not customer friendly nor did he like or appreciate his job. This was this was the GM I asked to speak to and this is the level of respect they offer you. I have been to this location multiple times and I do not understand how they are still in service. Last week I witnessed an elderly employee pick up a broccoli crown from the floor and place it back on top of fresh clean broccoli . I try to give the store the benefit of the doubt. But being in the business for 15 years makes it incredibly hard. the GM take a tip and learn how to have some mannors.

Customer in front of me was a talker and was just being a senior citizen. Lonely customer who wanted to talk. Totally get it but made other people behind her wait. My turn to check out and I had a question for the cashier and said excuse me three or four times and she just kept talking to the customer behind me who she wasn't ringing up yet. I get that customers can be aholes but so can cashiers.

I waited for a long time to get help in the liquor section. If you're going to lock it up, at least have someone available to unlock it. I pushed the associate contact button at least 5 times or more.

Perhaps one of my "go to" places to shop for groceries in Escondido.The prices are consistently lower than other big markets in Escondido. I travel from my home near Bear Valley Parkway to shop here.Employees wear masks. Customers are not required to.

Since food prices and everyday household products are on the rise, Food 4 Less gives you more goods for your hard earned dollars. They have a fairly good selection. The place can get very busy at times, but they generally have enough cashiers to accommodate whenever they are busy.1/7/2023 There is a new employee there named Freddie. Excellent customer service! He helped me bag my groceries and helped load them into my car. In the past, I felt reluctance and I was bothering the other employees if I asked for help with bagging. Freddie helped without making me feel bad. Thank you again Freddie.

This F4L is smaller then most. During my visit, I've never had a problem finding what I need. Above each aisle is a huge label with what that aisle contains.. I felt no need to ask questions! Very basic. Its like a Hispanic/ Mexican food store for every body. They carry things Stater brothers dosen't and vice versa. I shoppe for vegetables and meats somewhere else ( staters). Thats just what I do because of certain dates and quality of products. This store dose have very good deals for SHORT periods of time. Always check dates at all F4L and Cardenas stores, ect.

I LITERALLY hate it here! The worst grocery store you can go to! I don’t care if the prices are cheap it in the MOST inconvenient convenience store ever! The lines are always long and no it doesn’t go by fast. Good luck trying to find help! Workers are no where to be found. If you’re looking for a one stop shop look elsewhere. Pet supplies? No. Luckily petco is right next door. Alcohol is locked up which is no big deal if when you are looking for help there’s someone to help! I waited 15 mins before deciding to ditch my full cart and go somewhere else! I’m so angry I took the time to write this review. I never had such a horrible experience. Truly

The checkout lines are too long. Just go to the store across the street. Impatient customers as well. They use fast checkout lines with filled up carts. The carts are old and cranky.

I really enjoy shopping here. The isles are wide enough to not feel your going to crash into someone else. The meat department has a lot more to choose from then some of the other stores. Great bargins are found on every isle.

I've shopped Food 4 Less since 2009.The prices are fair to good on savings.The store itself could be a bit brighter inside, but cashiers are friendly and fast to check you out.I'll continue to shop here and never, ever go to rip off Von's.

Good evening, just letting the community know that I always have a great experience while shopping at Food 4 Less. From the line staff on up to management, the staff maintains a professional yet family friendly relationship with their customers. Every interaction is not a problem, they will stop what they ate doing to my your shopping experience a pleasant one. There are a few other alternatives in the community, but I prefer to spend my hard earned dollars in my favorite Shopping Center, "Food 4 Less." New to the area and had to make a food run for an office "get together" I've shopped food for less before so I located the one in this area. I was extremely disappointed to see how dirty and disorganized it was! It was not too busy and I did see several workers and managers on the floor but they just seemed to be walking around as though there was nothing wrong with the look and even the smell of the store. I will definitely not be returning to this store!
