Purchased a bag of Tastefuls dry cat food online with in-store pick-up. Upon opening the bag, I noticed there was a small hole in the bag. I didn't want to risk the food being contaminated or stale Since it was about 6.40pm on a Sunday, I decided to do an even exchange the next day. I showed the employee at the front and she directed me to go grab a new bag. She proceeded to do the exchange, but then told me that there was a balance due $3.69, including tax. I asked why and she told me because they don't know what discounts, etc I used online, that they had to charge the "in store" price. I started to protest, but decided it wasn't worth the hassle. I really didn't think it was right, so after I returned home, I called the store (Laguna Blvd., Elk Grove, CA) and asked for a manager. The assistant manager (manager on duty) happened to answer the phone. I explained the situation and was told the same thing, but she could "get me the number for customer service and maybe they can give me a coupon or something". I declined, thanked her and hung up. Neither employee asked to see my receipt to verify the purchase price. The reason I purchased from PETCO is because I'm thoroughly frustrated with PetSmart. Their website has so many bugs that it's often impossible to even complete a transaction. So, I thought fine, I'll go back to buying from PETCO. But after this last incident, I'm not very impressed with PETCO either.

Brought my dog in for grooming and IVY was awesome. Super sweet still remembers us from the last time which is a plus when you have a giant dog. Appreciate the friendly atmosphere and attention we got. And our fur babies always look and smell amazing after.

I find it BEYOND ANNOYING that this location won’t hold items when you call over the phone.This seems to be the only Petco that has this problem. This shouldn’t be something that only one Petco within 100 miles does. You should want to Make things easier on people not more difficult.

Me my husband and my son visit the store to buy a bird. We ask lady name Janeth to help us. that we want it to buy a bird she ignore what we say, and star talking to our son she want it sell things that we don’t need. We keep asking her for a bird and she keep said I need to make sure you have everything. After 4 times telling her that all what we want is a bird. She got upset and said you want to talk to a manager. The manager was near us her name sierra and said not to be rude to her employee. We told her that we were rude that all what we want is to buy a bird. It looks that manager did care about us. because she was rude with us as well. And she said you are welcome to buy a bird in a deferent location. We never fill so discriminate in our lives.

Unfortunately I do not like Petco, I come in for gecko food and it is always a 15-30 minute wait before I am helped. Not sure if they are understaffed but it's hard to find people and there is usually only one person in the front of the store. I prefer PetSmart because it is a 5 minute trip and about a dollar less for the same amount of crickets.

Only one person working. She was ringing customers up at the front of the store. Had to wait for her to help me down an aisle. She had limited time since she had to run back to the register. Store needs someone to help with customer service.

Bunch of unhelpful greedy employees!!! Waste of time coming here! I printed and presented the prescription from the veterinarian who checked my pup right in this Petco store about 2 weeks ago. I don't get why they can't fill the prescription. One staff even implied that I lied when I said I brought my dog on a Sunday. He claimed "they are not here on Sundays." Well the Calendar says November 5th falls on a Sunday.They have mobile vets who provide prescription within their store but the store won't honor the prescription from their own veterinarian. I was told to bring my dog again (at their convenience) so that their in house veterinarian can check my pup and rewrite a prescription. This translates to spending money again! Just so that I can get another prescription and purchase the flea-prevention medicine from them. The solution they offered is for me to go visit Petsmart because maybe Banfield can help..... why did Petco hire a manager who tells their customers to go or switch to a competing store? It's baffling. I'm totally giving up Vitale care premier. There's nothing premier about it. It's all mediocre service!!!!

Awful service at this petco .I bought a betta fish from here for my son and the fish had fin rot so my son tried to heal it but the fish ended up passing away.My son was crying because he had try so hard to help the fish. All Of the betta fish there were in bad condition and they don’t care about their dead fish.There was a worker who told us to buy so many supplies for money.I do not recommend buying a fish from here at all.

Buy online and pick up in store in an hour is a lie. It took 3 hours for my order to be ready. Also one of the items I ordered for pick up wasn't even in stock. The selection in store wasn't great. Items I saw online claiming to be in stock were missing when I went to the store. They need a better inventory management system. Overall shopping experience was just ok. I probably won't come to this location to see if this was just a fluke.

Employees are rude in grooming. Never greeted or asked what I needed help with. One woman came out rolling her eyes as if she didn't want to be there. Never answer the phone or set up re occurring appointments. Lost a long time customer. Go to Paw Spa on bruceville. Better service and lower prices.

A cat groomer cut the blood vessel of my cat's nails and blamed it on my cat. My cat is very nonaggressive (I’ve cut trimmed nails but wanted it done “professionally”) and have never cut his blood vessel. Groomers should be highly prepared with the right tools before cutting nails. When I got my cat, they told me they took him to Banfield Hospital. They told me I’d have to bring him in for a nail trim every two weeks so that the nail that was cut could grow out properly. I can’t imagine the stress and pain my cat went through. He was terrified when I picked him up. After this incident, I’ve never brought my cat here again.

I really didn't like the atmosphere when I got in. I felt like everyone working in this place was just tiring of working or irritated somewhat. Every person who works there that I spoke to really rude in a way. I didn't feel good about it. But I did shop for a bird and pet food. I just brushed it off thinking they have a terrible day as well.

I don't normally do reviews for this type of store but I find myself going here more and more because they are more likely to have popular foods in stock and the friendliness of the staff has been exceptionally better than any other pet store I've been to in this area. Also they have high quality toys and chews I haven't seen elsewhere so as far as Elk Grove - this is my go-to spot for pet supplies

We have taken our dog to this Petco location twice for grooming. The first time, the groomer, Kaitlyn, was great. I could tell she cared for how my dog should be groomed and did a great job with my Mini Australian Shepard. We had another appointment set up and we got a phone call cancelling our appointment because the groomer was no longer there. I was happy to still see her in the store but for some reason no longer grooming. We finally got her back in for another groom and the groomer cut off all of her hair in the back. Their signature trousers it looks like they wear in the back were completely gone. The cut was way too short in back. We thought it might have been a misunderstanding and perhaps I didn’t describe what i wanted in the back well, so were ok with it and rescheduled for her next one. We got yet another phone call cancelling her appointment and not booking for two months out. I understand things happen but their grooming services are the furthest from cheapest in town and they’re unreliable and not consistent. Go somewhere else.

Emily did a fantastic job grooming my dog. She looked and smelled fantastic. She's a great groomer, and took really good care of her. The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of how long it takes to get an appointment, and the prices they charge. You'd think you're going to an upscale pet salon for the amount they charge. It's a very small area for grooming. I even thought maybe I'll just go back since she's already been there, but upon trying to book another appointment, it would be over a two month wait to get her back in. That's insane!

I’ve been in this store several times on my own. The staff is normally helpful and kind. I’ve preordered items and they’ll have it ready to go. So I give four stars because the management team I usually come across is great. Now, let’s talk about today, 01.21.23. I placed an order a little after 11am. My husband comes home at 5:30pm and asks about the order. I never received a ready for pick up message. So me, my husband and two dogs go to the store. We walk in and our youngest is excited to be there. The oldest is just walking with me. Youngest is a Pocket American Bulldog and the oldest is an American Staffordshire Terrier. We walked in about 5:30PM. Right away the woman who was doing a training course starting bashing my dog’s breed. She paid more attention to my dogs than her trainees. My dogs had no interest in the dogs there. We went from the entrance to the isle picking out a toy. I thought it would be great for them to get a toy because they had a hard time at the vet the day before. The youngest picked her toy. The eldest is a service dog and trained for various tasks. The trainer took his attention because she kept coming and looking out at as if we were a threat. So, my eldest who was diagnosed with cancer yesterday was stressed and the trainer made our store experience horrible. The people who were there for training should get their money back. She had zero awareness, she was breed bashing the same breed she was training and she made even the people without dogs uncomfortable. For the safety of my dogs I will never take them back there as long as she is still employed there. And if she goes to other locations please let me know so I can avoid a hateful person like herself. There is no bad breed. I work around dogs and cats 6 days a week. I would never treat any animal the way she did to mine. Trainer who was training at 5:30pm on 01.21.23 should be fired. She put every dog in danger.
