The burgers and beer at Yak's on the 5 are dangerously delicious. Stop by if you are looking for food so good that your eyes will roll. Additionally, this place has an expertly curated beer selection.IMO, try the Morning After burger with the pickled jalapenos - it was recommended by the owner and is incredible. The garlic fries were also a nice treat. And the vanilla stout on tap is a collaboration between the owner and a local brewery - fantastic. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Stopped here while visiting Dunsumir and we were blown away!! The food was massive and out of this world flavorful. We split the Come to Jesus burger and could see why it was named that; we were STUFFED and in heaven. The wing had a such a good smoked flavor that it tasted like a rib! Also, they have one of the coolest and most unique draft beer line-ups we’ve seen; coolest owner too. Overall 100/10!!

Way better than any roadtrip fast food. Burger grilled, good quality tasting and flavorful. Sauces and toppings were shredded and served with flair…steps above the standard one slice of tomato and lettuce leaves. Hefty enough for two to share. We got a simpler Picnic Burger because we didn’t want to fill up too much on super spicy food. Fun, eclectic atmosphere. Super friendly service. We drive this route multiple times a year and will surely return.Parking: We rolled in with our trailer just fine. Parked right across the street.

Amazing food, lovely conversation with Michael (in Hindi), & uniquely beautiful ambience. This is our fourth time at Yaks, and we can't get tired of the 'Melt your tongue Lava'. This is one of the best burger I've had. The sauces, the Sriracha filled Jalapenos, and the garlic fries. Nothing goes wrong! We had an amazing time having conversation with Michael, who started the conversation in Hindi. Cherry on the cake was our ordered was announced in Hindi and he also thanked us in Hindi. A lovely experience at Yaks.

Amazing food but priceyyyyThe burgers are really delicious. Highly recommend the OMG! and the melt in your mouth lava! Its located very conveniently on I5. We visited after our hike to nearby Mossbrae falls. Everything is self service and the prices are a little on the high side - but definitely worth a visit

Yak's on 5 was a wonderful find after the closure of another spot on Christmas Eve. Post a super chilly Castle Rock hike, the host's warm welcome, even attempting Hindi to make us feel at home, was incredibly thoughtful. The interior decor, adorned with unique pieces like jewelry, bicycle wheels and chains added an eclectic charm. The 'melt your tongue' burger and garlic fries were absolute winners! A fusion of great food, unique ambiance, and hospitality made this a memorable stop. Also their 'names' for taking orders are also unique.Vegetarian options: Easily get veg. OptionsParking: Free street parking is available.

Incredible burgers and amazing, friendly staff who made us feel so welcome. The orange ginger marmalade was a revelation! My kids said the burgers were the best they ever had. We can't wait to go back!Kid-friendliness: Staff were amazing with my kids, making them laugh quite often through the meal. The atmosphere was really fun overall.

If you like a good ol’ greasy burger n fries with a beer, here’s your stop! Great beer selection, fries, and they even have a veggie burger on the menu. The atmosphere and music are fun and if you have sweet tooth you’ll probably like a sweet roll for dessert!Vegetarian options: Not a ton. But at least you can have a veggie burger and some fries or tater tots with a cold beer!

Stopped in to get out of the weather on a road trip from Phoenix to Portland and was glad I did. This place has a really cool vibe and service was friendly. Great selection of craft beer and gourmet burgers. The sticky buns caught me off guard but I didn't leave without one (and you shouldn't either). I do wish their pours were as big as their burgers so I gotta dig em a bit there. I really enjoyed my burger but my wife found hers a bit too heavy on the bun side and the patty had a bit more cook than her usual medium-rare. We both agreed the burgers were huge. She couldn't finish hers but I didn't let it go to waste! :) all in all a gem of the area, don't pass this town by without a visit!

Friends told us to stop here in Dunsmere...otherwise we'd prob just have gotten same old fast food we get when traveling. Food was quick, fresh, great portions, colorful and very artisticly styled inside. Folks were friendly & helpful. Deff a must have when in the area. Atomic Blonde burger was our fav out of the ones we got.Kid-friendliness: Kids menu, great portions again. 2 Littles could easily share 1 kids meal.

... Impressive. From the lavender ketchup to the cheesy ranch, and the burger you can't even fit between nose and chin, it was amazing. Most incredible sticky bun I've ever tasted...by very far. This place should be on a resort. The name for your meal is picked from the name bucket while you're up-sold on things that you should just say yes to. The front man (owner?) has an awesome personality which adds to the experience. We went on a cold and dreary day, but who cares?! We were warm, happy and full. This is (and should be) the best review I've ever given.

This is seriously one of the best experiences I've ever had eating out, and I don't say that lightly. The food is fantastic, seriously one of the best burgers I've ever had, and the sticky buns are irresistible! Sour Monkey was a good beer for this meal also. The only thing really non-orthodox is that, unlike a diner, you get your own food. However, I like the fun little twist on it with choosing a random name from a bucket (ours was Drop it Like it's Hot) and then picking it up without having to have a name announced over the PA (kinda nice, if you ask me). Also, the interior decorating and wall mural is cute AF

As you walk in you're greeted with bubbly kindness and enthusiastic warmth. The only thing that distracted from the tasty microwaved sticky buns and friendly service was the $9 small plastic cup of beer.I bought 2, unwittingly.Learn from my mistake. Get the price before you buy.It was a reasonable tasting beer. But $9?!I didn't get a burger, though watching the mountains between buns that came out of the kitchen made me wish I had. They looked and smelled great.

This place was amazing. The service was awesome instead getting called out by your name they give you a cool name from a movie l. We were Prince Charming. I got Melt your tongue Lava burger. OMG this thing is massive. It was packed full of flavor with pickled jalapeño, Sriracha seasoning, house made fried onion, strings, beer batter jalapeños, aïoli, and lettuce, and tomato. It was mess and hard to fit in the mouth but well worth it. One of the best burger I’ve ever had. I also shared the Scott’s tots which came with a brown sugar Cajun rub, bacon crumbles, Gorgonzola, jack cheese, chili-lime, drizzle, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime. Let me say they were amazing a must have, probably the best loaded tots I’ve had for sure. The rub with the chili lime drizzle made this amazing. A must stop on highway 5. It’s right off the freeway there was plenty of seats and a good selection of beer. If you haven’t stoped here yet you should.

I had an exceptional experience at Yaks on the 5 recently, and it's all thanks to the incredible service provided by one of their employees. I accidentally left my purse behind, and I cannot express enough gratitude to Sarah for her kindness and quick action in returning it to me.Sarah went above and beyond by making the effort to bring it with her on her way down to Redding. Her thoughtfulness and dedication truly saved the day, and I am incredibly thankful for her helpMoreover, I must mention that the burgers at Yaks on the 5 were absolutely amazing! The food was delicious, and the service provided by the staff was top-tier. It's rare to find such exceptional service and hospitality these days, and Yaks on the 5 exceeded all expectations.I highly recommend Yaks on the 5 to anyone looking for delicious food and outstanding service!Thank you once again to Sarah and the entire team for making my experience memorable for all the right reasons.

A fun and enjoyable place to stop for a meal while in the area or just traveling down I-5! The number of Burger combination options are amazing and they even have gluten-free burger buns!! The portions are large and you never walk away hungry.Dietary restrictions: Salads and gluten-free buns available...

This place is absolutely above any of my imagination and expectations - I’m not very young and I like burgers - tonight I had the best burger of my life hands down! It’s juicy, flavorful, big, meaty, dripping and absolutely delicious in every bite. The wings are amazing as are the fries and the sticky bun - the bun needs its own restaurant! And something else - the people are great - Andrew was awesome, just family atmosphere all around in the kindness of the Midwest really.I’m all out of words of praise but this is worth any drive. I would give the burger a Michelin star!

This place may not look like much sitting just off the side of I-5, but this place is a must. The burgers are pricey, but they are well worth it! Th burgers are some of the best we have ever had anywhere and more than enough to satisfy your hunger. We were so surprised by this place that we made a second trip back the next day. We enjoyed just as much the second time as the first! Definitely get the sticky buns, too. This place is an absolute must!

Stopped here on a road trip and regretted the expense in our choice. Parking was somewhat difficult, but we were able to find parking with a short walking distance. The line was almost to the door, and it took around 20-25 mins to get through the line and receive food. Since it was my first time, I didn't realize I had to ask for lettuce tomatoes and onion on my burger. Felt like I had to order quickly, take my beer, and wait.Food was mediocre for the price, I would recommend ordering a burger at a steak house instead. It would be cheaper with the same quality, and the environment will be less hectic.Parking: You will most likely have to park and walk to the resteraunt.

We recently tried burger at Yaks, and it was absolutely amazing! Despite the long queue, the wait was completely worth it. The veggie patty was cooked to perfection, with a delicious blend of flavors and a satisfying texture. The freshness of the ingredients really stood out. I highly recommend Yaks for a mouthwatering burger experience that's definitely worth the wait!

This place is over the top in a great way. Burgers piled so high with toppings they cannot fit in your mouth, creative tater tot concoctions, and sticky buns. They have a homemade nut-based veggie patty that I love but on my most recent trip it seemed deep fried in too much oil. Good beer selection and fun funky decor, definitely worth stopping in on your I-5 drive.

This place is a bit overrated. The wild reviews ensure the place has very long lines to get to the ordering station. It took us 30 mins to order the food but only 5-10 mins to get it once ordered. The food was delicious but it was a bit too much. Couldn't figure out how to eat the burger. It felt a bit deconstructed ty be honest. It was delicious and definitely not the usual burger and fries. I wish it was a bit more manageable to eat the food. All in all, definitely a bit overrated. There's another delicious traditional burger place down the street if you'd prefer that.

This place was EXCEPTIONAL. It hit all the marks we were looking for. We have been on a kick of finding the best burger and I think we found it! It was delicious! We drove from Oregon and found that place. We barely made it, so I called in our order. Andy answered the phone and took our order, by his phenomenal attitude over the phone, I was even more stoked on this place. We get there right before close and he lets us eat our food there. All the employees there were so friendly and just amazing. You could tell this was a great place. Andy had such a great attitude, it was much appreciated after driving for 6 hours. Unfortunately we won't be coming back this way, other wise we would definitely stop again.
