They didn’t provide a remote for the TV until my friend went to ask for it at the desk. They didn’t provide two shower sized towels when they knew they had two guests in the room, only one. The Wi-Fi went in and out. The curtains are from the 1986 remodel of this 1956 building that could be a gem? The shower curtain was soiled and yellow. The heater took quite a while to kick on. I realize it’s old school charm, but a very small budget could improve this place drastically. Dunsmuir is such an adorable town. PLEASE at least get new curtains in the bathrooms.

The room was clean and smelled nice. Simple things such as a pretty little display basket made it feel less commercial. The location was quiet with a koi pond and an outdoor area with tables and chairs. There was a small refrigerator and a microwave.

I stayed here about three years ago - to this day, whenever talk of staying in little roadside motels comes up, I quickly talk about how idyllic my stay was here. I recall the staff being so accommodating and the beds being ridiculously comfortable. This place made a spur of the moment road trip on the opposite side of the country so very memorable. Highly recommend this establishment.

This was a lovely little motel where you still get an actual key! It was clean, well lit, safe, and for our visit very quiet! It's a dated place - but I don't say that as a negative. It's part of the charm, and the rooms were incredibly clean and the beds were usual motel/hotel beds - fine for your stay. Well stocked with towels, toiletries, etc. Utilize the outdoor wooded courtyard - especially at night - very relaxing. This is worth a stay, so go now and get a little Americana nostalgia!

Family owned place in the shadow of Mt. Shasta. We stayed one midweek night in January passing through on a road trip. We were the only people staying there. Loved the cedar trees all around the property. Very clean and comfortable room. Maybe a bit stingy with the towels and tv is small. Better and quieter to stay here than a larger town.

The rooms were old. There was a distinct constant cleaning odor. The mattress springs were broken on one side of the bed. The blanket had holes in it. No bath mat. It's like the owners did the bare minimum. Plus, there was never anyone in the office. The door was always locked. Will definitely stay elsewhere next time as there will be many next times

Fair price for modest accommodations. Owners appear to be cost cutting at all turns...room was ice cold even though we had reservations, light fixture in bathroom had 1/2 bulbs, bath towel had a 1" hole. Thankful it was pet friendly. The room was clean. Mid-century motor lodge vibe. My husband mentioned there was an aviary with maybe 12 parrots, not something you see at most hotels.

I love the old 50’s motels. This one was great.Pluses:Clean (carpet is old and stained but very clean)All basic comforts, no frillsVery friendly hostWith windows closed, minimal noise from freewayOutside is nicely painted and keptBathroom paint job was very cheerfulHeater was noisy but worked wellGreat priceMinuses:Bed has a nice topper but was old and very well used. If you don’t have back problems, it’s probably fine.Sheets are silky but part polyester; they make me sweat. Not horrible in March but summer would be dreadful.Great for the price.

Cute little place to sleep and explore the town. Room smelled like someone had smoked in it at some point. Wasn’t too bad but could still smell the smoke. Soap dispenser was completely empty. Trash can had a plastic bag folded inside it. Pillows were super soft and comfy. Outside was cute with parrots and a koi fish pond. Quiet little place.****Wanted to add to this review. When we returned from exploring the town, someone had made our beds and replaced fresh towels and changed out the trash bags with new ones. I think the soap dispenser must be broke because we got extra soaps. This is a great place to stay and explore. Loved the coffee in the morning, which I made in the coffee maker located in the room. Enjoyed it on the little table and chair set right outside the room while my kids played in the snow. Plus an added bonus is you get to park right outside your room. Would definitely stay here again*****

PRO: Close to Attraction (waterfalls) and close to hwy. Nice staff. Nice/shaded parking area (kept their trees in the parking lot). Eco-friendly (did not cut down trees like most places). Has a picnic area with tables/chairs and an aviary with birds and fishes. Rooms are quiet. Beds are ok. Has a dining area in the rm., has decent sized microwave & fridge, has working heater/AC even in the bathrm. TV has local cable. Decent size closet.CON: Cleanliness is questionable esp. the carpet and bathrm. Room can use an upgrade. TV is quite small. Mold might be present in the bathrm.RECOMMENDATION: Recommended if visiting the waterfalls nearby and want easy access to hwy.

Such a cute little quaint motel. Staff was friendly and the room was clean. They have AC, a heater, microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker and small flat screen tv. The area is extremely quiet, so you’ll get a good nights sleep. They have a cute bird cage area outside with a ton of birds and koi fish. Lovely to wake up to beautiful birds singing. I knocked it down a star for how tinyyyy the shower was. You can barely move around in there, but the water’s hot and they include soap, so it’s better than nothing! The bed is soooo comfortable, I fell asleep almost instantly. They are pet friendly and charge $15 per pet, per night.I highly recommend this place and if I’m ever in the area again, I will be back!

At first it looks like something out of one of those scary movies, but it was a very nice stay. I am not an expert on rooms, but it looked and felt very clean to me. It was a little worn down in some places, but was nice overall and well maintained overall. The television worked perfectly and had the hotel channels with no disruptions. The wifi was connectable, download 14mb upload 1 mb. Nothing fancy but I was able to do what I needed with some patience. I very much liked the waterfall that was only a 4 minute walk from the motel. Very scenic and a very easy hike. For the price, you get what you pay for in full. Would use a little bit of a overall renovation, but it was a very pleasant stay and I would stay there again.

10/10. The nicest owner and very cute and comfy room. I, ignorantly, showed up at 11 pm ane check in ends at 10. I was a little frantic that i would be sleeping in my car, but called and a very kind man (presumable owner) picked up and opened the door for me. As someone who works in customer service, it's very easy to become annoyed with people (especially someone showing up late) and he was extremely gracious and kind towards me. The beds are comfy and room clean + a microwave and fridge. Quite a step up from the chains we normally have to stay in, with our dog (+ the pet fee was very cheap). I would come back. We discovered the aviary in the morning and were totally delighted. The price is very good too. Highly recommend.

I almost decided not to write this review. The problem is that I don't think my experience is representative of a typical stay at this motel. I am giving them 4 stars because I believe in the people who run the motel and feel that had I not had my problem with them, they would have gotten a 4 or 5 star review. Frankly, they earned 2 stars. The good:* The room was CLEAN. Not just clean, but extraordinarily clean! I had to pull a bed out and it was as spotless under the bed as the rest of the room.* The decor was good, a little dated, but much better than is typical of a mom and pop motel* The owners were delightful. They gave me good local information and seemed very well invested in the community.* The price was very fair. (Dare I say cheap?) A great value* The location was right where I needed it.The bad* The pillows were kind of minimal and need to be upgraded.* And the big one: One of the two queen sized beds had a broken innerspringI checked in at 3:00 PM, but did not go into the room until after 11:00 PM. When we wen in, one of the two queen sized beds had a decided problem and the mattress sagged through the innerspring almost to the floor. It was too late to find the owners, so we had to make do. We looked at the innerspring and found that two of the wooden cross supports and one of the side rails were broken. We took the innerspring and bedframe out of the room and placed them on the porch, opting to sleep on the mattress on the floor. The mattress was of decent quality and we did get a good night's sleep. When we looked at the box spring in the morning, the wood was light colored and the springs were still shiny. This was a relatively new box spring. It was probably abused by a previous guest.I am going to overlook this huge problem because I like the owners and the rest of the motel stay was great. But I do think that honesty is the best policy so I am telling the whole story.

This is a great place, it's a quaint and classic roadside motel. It has a nice large courtyard including picnic tables, a grill and even an aviary and koi pond. It has a wonderful secluded, community feel. The rooms are not fancy, but they are CLEAN (like spotless), the bed was comfortable and it had everything you could need (microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, hairdryer, air conditioner). The owner was very nice and even offered suggestions on activities in the area. Not to mention the prices, which are very reasonable!

Very clean and cozy little getaway. The owner is very nice. She made sure that my family had everything we needed including an extra blow up bed when our daughter at the last minute decided to join us for the holiday so she would not have to sleep on the floor. Thank you for providing exceptional service. My wife cleans houses and daughter cleans hotels and they both commented on how clean the room was. For me I noticed the bed was comfy and The sheets are soft. Give this a place a try..

Rooms were nothing special but not bad. It was quiet and service was pleasant. I especially enjoyed the bird Avery near our room as it was unique and fun activity to watch the birds for a bit. The location is just a couple minutes from downtown Dunsmuir so it worked out perfect as a quick overnight stay.

Wonderful staff. Extremely accommodating and hospitable. I stayed with my 2 dogs and they were very friendly and happy to have us with them. Great parking. The outdoor grills and picnic area is nice. They have an aviary with some very neat birds which is novel (no, they don't squawk and keep you awake). A very laid back attitude which I enjoyed greatly._________edited after checkout_____On the day of checkout there was an older woman who seemed to be the owner around. The positive and friendly vibe flipped completely on its head. Instead of being a welcoming and accommodating stay it felt more like we were unwanted and being rushed out. We were the only 3 guests staying at the time and we were told that we could not use the ice machine because the other guests would need ice. She had a worker blowing leaves and dirt at us while we loaded up our trucks with out luggage in an effort to hurry us out. While we were finishing loading the woman who I assume is the maid came. We had already checked out of one room and got the luxury of watching them clean the other one. It took them maybe 5 minutes to do the whole thing. Basically the changed the sheets and replaced the toilet paper. :/Vince was the only pleasant employee and if it was just him we dealt with I would have had a much better experience.
