Awesome spot with great service and food. Although our standards are high for Mexican and this isn't quite "authentic," it has a unique flare that makes the dishes fresh and tasty.The toastada salad was great with beets, fruit, and especially how they buried the meat, rice, and beans under the lettuce. The dressing was amazing and it was a great portion size.The enchiladas were good but could have used a little more kick to the green sauce. Only thing that was a little less than great was the margaritas which were from a mix. But the service was fast and friendly. The back patio was also a nice atmosphere with misters when it's hot out.

Idk what happened, used to be a good place. The burritos are OK - not great but you don't have much selection in Downieville. But this time I waited for a burrito to go for over 40 mins!! No mixup, just one single cook during the busiest time of the year. Try to imagine what it's like waiting for a to-go order for over 40 mins - I'm not picky but would be great if they gave a heads up

As the head cook, I take pride in the cleanliness and quality of food l deliver, it is fresh, bought and prepared only for that week, so we run out of food sometimes. We apologize for random closures, it is a small town in the hills, we are all humans please act like appropriately, stop in and enjoy!!

Stumbled into Downieville by accident. Such a lovely little town with such incredibly friendly people. We arrived in town later in the afternoon, and after securing lodging, found that La Cocina de Oro was one of only two establishments in town serving dinner. Having eaten a late lunch from the other establishment when we arrived, we opted for trying La Cocina de Oro for dinner. That was NOT a bad thing. The food here is excellent, the plates of food are huge and the staff here is friendly and excellent with dealing with their customers - in fact, if the drive wasn't so far from home we would make La Cocina de Oro a must eat at least once a week.Thank you so much to the staff for dealing with us so close to closing time and making us feel welcome and dealing with our order.

Ordered a spicy carnitas burrito, got a burrito that apparently had neither carnitas nor spice. Maybe an order mix-up, but not a great experience, especially for $16. May eventually give them another try, but I’m in no hurry to go back.

Wow! Delicious and healthy food. Not the average taqueria.Ingredients carefully selected from local sources and, I hear, even the owners garden. Owner and staff are super friendly and I got to have the vegetarian enchiladas that I always dreamed of. Nice outdoor dining next to the river.

This was a delightful place to stop for lunch on our way back from a camping trip. The food was delicious- especially enjoyed the made in-house hot sauce (salsa). We both ordered the carne asada burritos- very generous portions. Aside from our satisfying meal, we were impressed with the attentive service and were super appreciative that we observed staff practicing health and safety protocol during the current pandemic. We sat outside on the back deck overlooking the river- what a lovely spot to appreciate the natural setting! I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Downieville. Thank you!

A great little restaurant in a beautiful little town. I went here on my way home from a hike up to the Sierra Buttes Fire Lookout (which, by the way, is an amazing hike), and we ate in the outdoor seating in the back, which overlooks the river that runs through town. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. I'll definitely be going back next time I'm up that way

Incredible customer service! I came in and ordered 4 burritos to go for my riding buddies after a very cold and very late Downieville DH ride. We had snow, rain, and then hail, and my fingers were frozen. Without my asking, they immediately gave me a hot towel and escorted me to the bathroom to run my hands under warm water. When I came back, they gave me hot tea. Nobody cared about the mud I tracked in, they just wanted to make sure I was warm. The burritos were gigantic and wonderful and exactly what we all needed after a long, cold ride.

There's not a lot of choice when you want to dine in Downieville, but even if there was, I'd go to this place. They buy their food from local small farms and make everything fresh, it's really delicious. And the seating outdoors next to the river either on the patio or the deck, is really first class! Every time a memorable time there. The service is good too!

The 4 stars are for the service only. The service staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. Because we had our dog with us we ate outside facing the street which was entertaining seeing locals and visitors along Main Street. I have to give 0 stars for the food. Unfortunately I got very sick and sense it was the only food I ate that day it had to be the food that made me sick. I’m gluten intolerant and I believe there was pasta in the Spanish rice (like ricearoni) which is a wheat product. I asked if there was pasta in the rice and was told NO. Sorry but I disagree 😖

This is our favorite stop in Downieville! Owner, Feather Ortiz has a knack for making you feel comfortable and welcome with the atmosphere, delicious food and ambience. We have to stop at Cucina De Oro every time we go to Downieville and we’re never disappointed. Beautiful patio overlooking the river and great service and staff. And live music is the cherry on top !!! ❤️👍🏽I couldn’t say more!!!

I’m pretty low maintenance but this was the worst burrito in my 53 years. I felt nauseous and my buddy who got the same thing has been puking from food poisoning for 24 hours now
