Just tried to talk to someone to get information and ask questions very calmly as I don’t know how things work regarding a situation where an owner has abandoned his pet on my property, and was met with extreme rudeness by an older woman over the phone with the call ending in her hanging up on me. I stayed calm the entire time, but it was like she just didn’t want to help me whatsoever. This lady clearly did not care about this animal as I tried to figure out whatever it is I can do to make sure this pet gets help she needs.

I've been in a lot of animal shelters in search for new dog. Hands down. This is the most beautiful, cleanest, precious smelling animal shelter I have visited. It was a pleasure to adopt my new for friends from them.

These people are shameful extorting $600 dollars from me and threatening to sell my dog to someone else for $175 but they won't let me or anybody that knows me to adopt my 12 year old dog after 10 days.I was told cash only and a 12 year old dog most likely be adopted so they will have to put him down.I asked if I could see him one last time or at least yell "good boy" down the hall and they flat out told me if i had six hundred cash i could do what i wanted if not "you'll never see him again".makes no sense that they dont try to reunify dogs and owners at the same price as they would adopt him out, they are treating my dog as a revenue source and not as a member of my family, and to be this spiteful and cruel is down right sedistic someone should fire whoever is in charge and realize that kennel space would be better served with a dog that Needs it not a dog that needs to be with his family.Update.I managed to get together $600 right before the deadline to get my dog back, the young lady (I didnt catch her name) that brought my dog to me from the back was very delightful and friendly and seemed like she genuinely cared and loki seemed to like her quite a bit as well.Aside from that when I got him home I noticed he was lethargic and coughing really bad.I called the shelter to ask what was going on and was hung up on and my subsequent calls were fowarded to voicemail mail. After several attempts I called from a different number and it was answered on the first ring by Mary, the dispatcher, she was cordial and as helpful as she could be.I requested to talk to a supervisor that refused to talk to me and said talk to the county. The supervisor above her refused my call as well. After a little persistence Mary relayed some information that my dog was not vaccinated for kennel cough upon being brought there like every cat and dog that get there automatically, with no explanation except I ask too many questions.I took loki to the vet and he was diagnosed with kennel cough and k9 distemper that he got will in the shelter. He fought like a champ but died 5 days after bringing him home. These people murdered my dog and can't be bothered to take a phone call.Im filing a lawsuit so please share your similar experiences and hold these people accoutable.

It's a beautiful place. But they charged me $250 to get my puppy back, that someone had found and dropped him off there. Don't get me wrong, I'm very appreciative that he was safe, but $250 that's outrageous.

I called the other day to see if a feral cat I was feeding who went missing was there. The woman who answered the phone was rude. Before I even finished the question she cut me off and sharply said "NO!" Then I asked if there was any road kill reports, and she didn't even let me say my street or city. She just rudely said "NO" again. I was already worried and upset. The way she spoke to me was very unprofessional. I'm gonna think twice before I donate animal food to them again. There are other rescues I can support in this county.

Thank you for giving us our dear Kennedy (renamed Lucky) 3 months ago. He is so happy. He has another Jack Russel and Greyhound as visiting family and gets along well with them. He loves people too. He is lovable and likes his toys and family. We are blessed and so “lucky” to have him. We were so impressed with the shelter cleanliness and staff.

They had a dog I wanted to rescue , they have a rule if you have a dog at home you must bring your dog to them to see if the 2 dogs would be compatible.. I couldn’t do that as my dog gets car sick. A dog I rescued from their shelter …. so they wouldn’t let me have the rescue dog .. next day I went to the Bradshaw animal shelter and got a rescue dog from them ,, This should not be a rule , just a suggestion to bring your dog for a visit .. this rule is mandatory from the manager …

I adopted my dog Wylie-Bear from here as a Nine month old puppy! He was given to me clean, free of fleas and ticks as well as being very healthy! All animals are chipped and licensed before they are available for adoption along with all necessary shots/ vaccinations. The shelter is large with large kennel holding areas and an EXCELLENT ADDITION of outside play areas completely fenced in for a dogs every dream; to run untethered chasing balls of chewing squeaky toys! Wylie is a German Shepard Akita mix and now a Professionally trained and Registered Service Animal for my PTST!Sincerely, Barth “Ski” Gutowsky (Lewis Laughing Bear) Hangtown Ca.

I don’t understand the staff, they are only interested in euthanizing the dogs and not finding them a new home.

Thank you to the very caring persons who assisted me in giving peace to my Chance with so much compassion for a very well loved and loving four-legged family member, two-legged family member and her ... two of my dearest friends that took over when I couldn't, and the staff who made it so much easier. Thank you EDC Animal Rescue.

My dog got out of my yard and ended up here. Everyone was so kind and helpful. They also have a beautiful facility. All the staff were very knowledgeable. I did have to pay fees, and they license and chip your pet so they are safer if it happens again. Thank you to everyone who helped. Ellie Mae and family really appreciate it!

It's the first place to go to adopt a pet. Also, on Saturday's 9am-1pm is free vaccine and chip day.

This shelter has great, helpful staff & they're tech savvy. They'll give you all the information they can, with any observations they've made. They do a fabulous job of making a match between human & animal. EVERY animal is spayed/neutered.If you've been looking online, you'll find that a LOT of websites have outdated animal information (already adopted, etc). The moment you adopt from El Dorado Animal Services, your new pet is taken off the website. That's SMART. They can also tell you if there are other applications for the pet you want, and where you are "in line."FYI El Dorado County is VERY SERIOUS about dogs running loose. This is agricultural land in many cases, and it's legal to shoot a dog that's after livestock in this county. The fines for breaking your dog out of jail, when it's been caught by animal control, are STEEP. Last I heard it was $150 for the 1st violation; $300 for the next... you get the idea. If you adopt PLEASE BE RESPONSIBLE for your animal's actions.

We recently rescued a pup from here. We had been watching the website and visiting off and on for a few months waiting until we found the right fit for our family. On every visit, the county staff were extremely informative and helpful. The volunteers truly care for the animals and give you a great rundown of their personality (as observed while the dog is in the shelter) and try to help you find a dog that will meet your needs. Our guy is ridiculously sweet. He came home with a full record of the shots they gave him while there, he was neutered. We took him to our vet for a meet and greet and initial exam - he's healthy and in great shape. He's a happy dude, and we're in love with him.

I was desperately looking for my 22+ year old cat that had gone missing & we knew it was near her end of life. I was notified that Animal Control had her & to come immediately. I was able to come in, see her sweet soul & be with her before she passed away. I am so incredibly thankful for this opportunity to be able to say goodbye to her. Thank you so much El Dorado County Animal Control & all that you do. Your staff was all so compassionate & understanding.Outside of this, the facility is awesome. They do tons of yard time with the dogs, the adoption areas are great to get to know you new future fur babies. Staff is so nice !If you are looking for a new best friend I would definitely go here to give a fur babie a 2nd chance at love!

This organization really cares about animals. The misconception that animals get euthanized soon after they arrive is just that ... a misconception. The volunteers work relentlessly to find homes for these amazing creatures big and small, and they give them every opportunity possible. Some dogs were noted to have lived there for a year before he finally got adopted because animal control waited for the right home. Donate to this cause if you can or find your ideal pet here.

Very nice facility, clean and airy. The cat adoption room was full of wonderful cats and a few kittens. It made the choice very difficult and emotional. We wanted to take more than one! The young 2-3yo female we eventually chose was finishing her quarantine the next day, so we filled out the paperwork and came back the next morning to take her to her new home. So happy with our choice! Wish we could have taken more!

The shelter was really clean, not smelly, pretty quiet, with friendly adoptable animals - very different than visiting Bradshaw or Front St in Sac. Wish we could take everyone home.

My daughter and her friends let out our pit/lab puppy from the yard and we ended up finding her at this shelter. We were so upset not knowing if she was okay or not. The employees there were SO HELPFUL, kind, and very understanding. They saved us more money than we thought, gave us great advice and took care of our sweet baby. One of the best shelters we have ever experienced. If we could give them 10 stars we would. Thank you Eldorado County Animal Services for all the hard work you do to save all these precious animals

We were unexpectedly faced with end of the life of our beloved dog. Highly recommend this facility and the staff for professionalism. They have a separate entrance complete with Kleenex for us grieving pet owners. Kindness of the staff made the experience a little less painful.

Volunteers were amazing. We picked 2 female dogs that were surrendered together. Breed description should have said "All American". We fell in love with the pair and are glad we made the drive from Roseville to Diamond Springs. The facility was nice and the people working there truly 💘 animals. Thank you.

Got my dog Duke there, after I had to put my other dog down because of Cancer. I went in there to see available dogs. They had lots of dogs there. Duke would just sit there and he had sad brown eyes. I would pet him for hours and when I stopped he would nudge my hand. I went in for several days. Every day it said he was not available. Finally i saw in the paper he was available. I went there and said i wanted to adopt Duke. Filled out the paperwork and talked to the friendly staff. He was being walked outside, and I was able to go outside and toss a ball for him. They asked if I wanted to take him home, i said yes, and they loaned me a leash. He ran to my car and jumped in. When i got home I showed him around, gave him some toys, and sat down while he was looking around. Next thing i know he climbed in my lap, put his head on my shoulder, and fell asleep. If you are looking for a new pet, I recommend the ED County Animal Services.
