The attention was great! From the moment we entered through the door we felt welcome, the service was pleasant, but when we saw the photos of the menu we did not imagine more delicious and quality food, unfortunately, that was not the case. One of the most important things is food and they really do work on that. They would have 5 stars for sure.

Tucked away in this little town - Descanso - east county San Diego CA, is this gem of a restaurant, bar, home-away-from-home for the locals. Decor is very western old Town vibe, A satisfying lunch of a House Signature Clubhouse Sandwich which was a plentiful serving arrived in front of us within minutes of ordering. Lunch was a busy time and pretty popular as guests were lining up to be seated and we lucked out and got a couple of seats at the bar. A very friendly gentleman moved his bar chair a bit to offer us more room, and his hospitality reflected with how the staff was like his family. A great homey feeling for us new patrons.We shall definitely make this a regular lunch or dinner stop in this side of town.

Wow. The Jack Daniels steak burger is the juiciest, tastiest burger I've had in a while.I stopped in here after 4 hours of hiking nearby Cuyamaca peak. (The camp host had highly recommended Descanso Junction.) I was hungry. Good thing.The beer was cold and refreshing. The meatball soup good, but the burger (and onion rings) absolutely outstanding. Delicious. And big portions.Also, the service was top notch. All the employees were really nice and friendly, and quick.I recommend Descanso Junction.

I would pass thousand times by this place and never stop to eat , but always wanted. So this time I was driving up to Julian when I decided to stop and have lunch. I can just say good decision. We have had hamburgers and its delicious . Meat just cooked right. Onion rings amazing and fries good. Service could be better though. Overall good place and definitely coming back

First time coming to this restaurant. The ambiance is great and they have shop outside. We ordered Grilled Salmon and Pretzels. The food is well presented and so delicious.The service is fast and the Staff are nice and friendly.

One of my favorite spots for a solid chicken fried steak. From other reviews, I'd say an issue they may have is staff/consistency. Which is a bummer, because it's very disappointing to take someone to a spot you've been raving about... only for it to be nothing like you remembered. Hopefully next time I go it's as good as last time. If I were a regular, I'd probably get to know who's working the kitchen when, and figure out when to avoid eating there. Sadly, this should be management's job, and they should make the appropriate moves to that the restaurant always have great food... but I know staffing issues are continuing for just about everyone, so it is what it is. Hope you luck out and eat there on a good day!Parking: Right out front in the dirt. So, if it's wet or raining, be prepared for mud.Kid-friendliness: Kids will dig the spot. A ton of decorations to look at and an outdoor patio area. This was a bit ago during winter, so too cold to really use at the time, but would be great during warmer weather.

Following a hike, we wanted to support some place local and have a country diner kind of meal. The Descanso Junction Restaurant offered just what we were looking for. The food was not gourmet, but it was well-presented and had a homemade quality to it. The service was a little slow, but in their defense it was a busy Sunday crowd. We loved the decor and ambience of the restaurant a d overall I would definitely recommend it for a good country meal.

I have passed this place a million times and never stopped in to eat. I was hungry after a long, drive through the desert and there’s not many places to eat between El Centro and Alpine. The food was great. The side salad was so fresh and crispy and large. I ordered the chicken fried chicken. The spices were excellent and tasty. The portion was so large I took half of it home to eat the next day. It was very reasonably I will definitely eat here again.

I was camping near by and thought of ordering some food for take away. Reached around 8.10 pm , the main restaurant was closed but heard some music in the garden area back side. Looking at the ambience, I changed my mind to dine there and spend some more time. The menu items were limited, but the food was absolutely delicious. The live music was a treat to hear. It's usually on Fri and Sat evenings until 10 pm and Sun brunch hours. The staffs were very polite and friendly. I am hoping to visit soon.

We are from Austin tx came to see my daughter and kids. We stop by this place to eat breakfastand I don't have anything to say but taste the food. Our service was fast and great. Clean place, nice a cozy, definitely relaxing, and definitely recommend this place to eat if ur passing by.

Super delicious food, big portions... big enough to take home leftovers or share. Friendly servers and family-friendly environment. Neat antique stores next door. Our family agreed we will be back! Great spot to stop by on your Sunday drive through Descanso, East county San Diego, or Julian.Vegetarian options: Veggie sandwichKid-friendliness: Chill atmosphere, chicken strips and delicious fries.

Wanted breakfast about an hour outside San Diego on our way to Phoenix, and about 45 minutes out we stopped here. Great choice! With a great Western theme, this cafe did not disappoint. The omelette and bacon & eggs were perfect, but the large pieces of coffee cake we ordered were the highlight!

Stopped in after doing a hike and have always passed this place and wanted to try it. The food was fantastic and the staff was friendly and helpful. If your thinking of stopping by here, JUST DO IT, definitely worth it and will be back!

Service is good. And the food is delicious. I got the mix and match sliders. One tri-tip and the other pulled pork. With french fries. I'm picky about my ff and these were good! My boys got carne asada burritos with a side of rice and a little avocado which were also good and they're picky eaters. The building and part of town is cute. When you're done check out the thrift store next door. It's also cute.

I’ve been here twice but over the weekend was my first time trying their burger and it did not disappoint me at all… I ordered Jack Daniels steak burger and it taste great. This will be now our place after each hike around Cuyamaca. Highly recommended!!!! And btw, Customer service was awesome too 🙂

My friends & I were hungry & decided to stop here after a hike for lunch for our 1st time. Descanso Junction Restaurant is part of a small area with 6-7 small businesses on the side of Highway 79 in Descanso just off the 8 Freeway. What a friendlly staff who are very welcoming and attentive to their customers. We were luckily seated quickly as it was crowded. The decor depicts the hustorical side of Descanso which made the restaurant very charming indeed. 😀 There is also an outdoor patio which is also very pleasant to eat in. I choose the 2 ground sirlion sliders with American cheese and the french fries. The sliders were excellent and the sirloin was seasoned just right for my taste buds. The fries were very tasty and crunchy just the way I like them!! 👍 I admit that they are way better than McDonald's version. My friends enjoyed a fresh salmon salad and a BLT. Both thought their food was deliciius plus the prices are very affordable. We did notice that a number of guests were locals & the employees welcomed them by using their 1st names which is always a great sign to other guests that this restaurant is a favorite place for food, dining experience and atmosphere 😀We plan future dining experiences there!!
