I have a 14 year old puggle who has diabetes and has become mostly blind. She's absolutely fearless and is even thriving believe it or not ❤️ 🐕❤️But, her diabetes makes her have to urinate at random times, morning and night, and she needs to relieve herself, sometimes on the spot. We have been using puppy pads in her own section of the apartment and she has no problem using them, which can get to be costly and a lot of work between cleaning up pp and taking her out as often as possible.With my Petco membership I can get 100 pads for 20 bucks.... Which is half the price, if not more than half, and we have saved tons of money. Pretty much every item we have ever purchased at Petco had some sort of discount up to half off on a new doggie bed and harness. Better than Amazon in my opinion and you can see everything in person to make sure everything is just perfect for her.Sorry so long, thank you for reading. Petco has honestly helped us get everything our pup could ever need at a decent price. Seriously.

I'm a new dog owner to a puppy and I love coming to this Petco location. I came here in January feeling kind of lost and feeling like eh what's the point, how often will I come here? I found chewy and Amazon and felt I didn't really need to come to Petco but figured I'd look in person at some items I was considering ordering online since I was getting my puppy in February. Matias asked if there was anything I needed help with and I explained to him I didn't know what I was doing or really looking at as a new dog/puppy owner. Like literal 0 experience and used to be afraid of dogs. He showed me around to so many different aisles and products I didn't even think about. He recommended chew toys with rubbery grooves/spikes that help massage puppy gums, and showed me sprays or items to help in case my puppy likes to mark areas of the house. He gave me Zoe's, the dog trainer at this location, card and puppy schedule classes and I thanked him, but recycled both after a week of getting home since my friend had recommended a different trainer/company to me and I had an online membership with Baxter and Bella. My vet actually recommended going to Unleashed in the Del Mar Highlands for puppy classes so my puppy can get socialized with other puppies. She said Unleashed was great when she went last year and she said that what's awesome is because Petco is a big chain store, the curriculum is all standardized. I went to Unleashed and mentioned this Via De La Valle store is near where I go boxing, and every employee I spoke to said go see Zoe and get training from her. They said Ethan is great, but Zoe is amazing and Zoe actually taught Ethan, and I thought huh, yeah why not go to the teacher of the already great trainer here at unleashed. I met Ethan and he's super friendly and I have no doubt he's a good trainer. I went back to this Petco, and I'm surprised I don't see many Google reviews about the training and about Zoe. I feel like such a dud for recycling her card and calendar. I immediately picked them back up in March when my pup was 12 weeks and ready for classes.Zoe is phenomenal! I have nothing but positive things to say about her and my experience taking classes from her. My puppy, Archer, and I did Puppy Level 1, but missed some classes and Zoe recommended he take Puppy Level 2 since he was picking things up well and I was relatively prepared and was on top of training Archer. Both classes were really great, and Zoe was about to troubleshoot things that I didn't even realize were things to troubleshoot. For example, Archer tends to sit when given the command, but if he doesn't get treated immediately, he'll actually start scooting back a bit, so Zoe recommended practicing up against a wall to prevent that! When Archer lost teeth and lost interest in his high value treats, and I told Zoe how much Archer loves balls, she said to use the ball I had to grab his attention as the reward instead of the treat. I've seen Zoe mentor/teach 4 trainers during our Puppy Level 2 classes, and she's such a great teacher to peers and handlers. I feel so grateful and lucky to have met her and have her helping me train my pup. She is incredibly friendly, nice, receptive, patient, and cares so much for all the pups she trains. The walls put up to section off the area for class are filled with all these pup graduates that I know are equally fortunate to have benefitted from her teachings. Archer and I are so excited for Adult Level 2 next!I do want to also add that all employees I've met at this store are super friendly. Shaira, the manager, is also so kind and nice whenever I return things. I always feel guilty returning items but sometimes things don't work out. As a new dog owner, it's so comforting on my mind and my wallet to know I can return items in any condition within 30 days.

Went in the other day and had a question about Something and ask one of the clerks For help. She helped me. But didn't expect the cold shoulder with the rude customer service. It seems like this store is good for the most part. But I guess I Just caught this particular manager on a bad day.

We heard that Kevin was a great groomer but he just didn’t do a good job on our dogs. Cleo came home with a badly uneven face and both of them were way too short. Our first and last time, I guess.

Everyone at the Del Mar Petco is amazing! Everyone we meet there is so loving and kind. You can tell they all genuinely care about animals and enjoy working at this location. We always make a point to stop when we head in that direction because it’s the highlight of my furry child’s day to go visit and shop. We love Petco!

Exits and entrances from parking lot can be tricky. Slow down and use indicators when turning in from Rosecrans. Try exciting past Starbucks to get on midway.

I take my dog for grooming every 4 weeks. Kevin is her long-time groomer, and she is always happy to see him because not only is he an excellent groomer, but he loves his job and his dog clients and they know it.

Wonderful, caring helpful, and knowledgeable staff. Small but lots in one place. Now they even have a Just Food For Dogs pantry inside! Amazing food. Parking can be an issue but worth the bit of a walk if neccessary. Nice and busy store.

This is a friendly store they sell fish, reptile, and small pet supplies in addition to dog and cat. They are a bit pricey so I usually scout out something on sale. Watch out though the sales can have fine print. Much Cheaper to not run out and order everything pet related from Chewy or Amazon but I end up coming to this convenient location quite often.

Shira Parker, store manager, went out of her way to track down items at a nearby store that were not available at her Del Mar Store. I really appreciated the extra efforts she put into my needs during the busy holiday sale season. I am so impressed with the initiative she took as well as her kindness and patience while working with me!

I get really great service with my pet's grooming needs at the Del Mar Petco. Rachael is excellent with my pet multipoo who can be a handful at times. She also referred us to a very well reviewed vet service.

Petco in Del Mar is always a good shopping experience--organized and staffed just right to get you and your pet what you came for. Many product lines and the vet clinic is a big plus for vaccinations.

The vaccine center/vetco staff were amazing! They were very efficient, thorough, polite, and explained the process well. Our cat had a positive experience as well during the vaccination. The appointment scheduling process was easy and fast.

The employees are fantastic! We met a rescue there to adopt a dog and my son had an almost immediate allergic reaction to the dog’s saliva. It was an incredibly stressful situation and the employees were more helpful than the rescue agency. My son is sobbing, I’m freaking out over a rash spreading across his face, and the employees were keeping me calm and helping with the dog. I will always appreciate how kind and compassionate they were for our situation. Thank you! I will always recommend them to anyone in San Diego.

Petco in Del Mar has everything you might need for your pet. The staff is very helpful. I also have my dog groomed there. Very happy with the results and prices were reasonable. You do have to book a month ahead. Very busy!

Amazing location with very helpful staff. I was very impressed with the inventory of products and really appreciated the assistance from one of the employees who helped me pick out the best food option for my cat who has food allergies. My cat loved the food and the toy that the employee recommended and she even recommended treats that my cat loved and she is super picky even for a cat. Highly recommended. Best Petco in San Diego by far.

Wow, I have to write about my experience here this evening.Jennifer, the manager at this Petco, really made the experience amazing! She truly took the time to offer great tips and helpful pointers pertaining to animal care and I am so grateful for her knowledge, generosity of spirit and genuine care.As someone with a strong background in sales, I can attest to the fact that she also is a great salesperson. I went in to get an item or two and ended up spending over $100. But she was not pushy once, just well informed, and it matters.I LOVE getting to post great reviews because they mean a win-win has been reached.Maya and I walked out feeling great.What a beautiful thing!

Very friendly staff, with great prices. I come here for my dog's gromming, as well as his vaccination needs. Although the Vet is not here every day, but it's so much more convenient to just come by and get your dog vaccinated without making appointments. AND much cheaper !

They close at 7, not 8. Not cool when I showed up thinking I was getting food for my new puppy. I don't mind if you close at 7, just don't publish that you close at 8 and have me driving over here like this. Saw someone else pulling up with the same problem. That's the problem with big companies... They can't even manage the small things like accurate publishing of their hours.

Huge Petco which carries a lot of products for a large variety of animals. They were really low on litter and cat food when I visited the past few times, hence the docked star. A place this large shouldn't run out so quickly of the larger brands. The staff is really friendly and happy to help, though.
