I used to shop here weekly for all my groceries until June 2023. The store at Cowell near Richards. I have not returned since a floor clerk approached me about having my 8lb doggy in my cart. Her verbal delivery was so mean, hostile, berating, and inappropriate, as if it was a personal loathing of her customers. I looked for a name badge which she said she didn't have it on yet. I asked her name, she said, Hannah? Older woman of 45? I'm 57. Anyway, I showed her I had a VA military disabled ID card, to which she chagrined and followed me to make sure I left. I was cooperative because I was wrong. Never been back, however, but I do dislike paying Nugget prices! I used to work at an Albertson's in Washington and never would have used such a tone level with a customer. Safeway is usually cool and my cousin and friend retired from there.

I would have rated them higher at the beginning of the pandemic when they were actually trying to enforce distancing. They had a one way up and down system and reminders in the intercom to follow it and to be mindful of distancing guidelines.Kind of hard to understand why they would take this away during the worst case numbers of the pandemic.As of late they haven't been opening self service checkouts in the morning. I think by 8am /8:30 you should definitely have self service checkouts open.I like to limit my in person interactions as much as possible in stores and I always choose to self checkout when possible, it moves faster and you're not standing face to face with a person, yes they have plexiglass at their checkouts but it doesn't actually cover the payment area. Which is definitely less than 6ft between customer and worker. Aside from that if I'm in a store early it's because I need to grab something in a hurry. Having self checkouts is much faster than being in a queue down the aisles. Which in turn makes the aisles too crowded for both those trying to find something on a shelf and the ones standing in line blocking said shelves.Aside from all this the store is generally clean, has everything you could want/need, and normally at a better price than some of the other stores in DavisEdit to add that I use the deli here frequently I find it better than the one on covell, and the deli staff are so friendly early in the morning (:

Beware of the meat. They repackage old meat and put the fresh side up and keep the rotten side down. I bought steaks here after going through the aisles trying to get the freshest looking one. Found one that was looking really fresh, bright red and said packaged today. After I got home and opened the pack, a gust of foul scent exploded out. I was extremely shocked, however I was even more confused and baffled. I used gloves to flip over the “fresh” beef and found the underside to be rotten. Watch out don’t trust what you see.

This Safeway Bakery did it again with another great cake! It was for my daughter's First Communion. The cake was white with white buttercream and a creamy vanilla custard inside. It was beautiful and delicious! My guests loved it! They will make the cake exactly how you want it. I order all my party cakes here and am never disappointed. The baker did a wonderful job! I don't usually get this excited about cake but take my word for it. Order your cakes here. You'll be glad you did!

Clean store, plenty of parking, friendly people, clean bathrooms. All products available. Visit the deli for the chicken wings. Christmas time always provides the Ghirardelli chocolate which i will be sure to purchase after making my morning deposit. Life is good friends. Rejoice!!!

Thank you so much for keeping cooked food ❤️ and I love the fact they accept EBT. I bet every student who goes to this store is happy and thankful to all the people who work in this store. I love this store because it has everything I need And the products are affordable.

The most illogically organized store I’ve ever seen. Where are canned tomatoes? I would think by the canned fruits and veggies. Nope, it’s by the pasta sauce.Where are the ziploc bags? Maybe by the cleaning supplies. Nope, it’s by baking. And why are yoghurt and eggs separate from the rest of the dairy products?

There are some great deals at this Safeway if you get the Safeway Select brand products. Don't go in to this Safeway in the evenings--too many people and understaffed--but it's fine during the day.They do custom cakes at the bakery! They have a flipbook to choose from. They need a couple of days to get the cakes put together. Only $20 for a double layer with filling. The picture frosting has a nice marshmallow taste.Update: They have his cakes for adults too. I just tried their tiramisu cake slice and WOW it was amazing! Check the dates on the slices for freshness though.

I really enjoy the courteous employees but the shelves at this store are consistently empty especially of sale items. Sale items are often times not replenished and are very likely gone the first day they are on sale. It makes for a frustrating shopping experience. I only come here out of convenience.Positively speaking, the fresh food departments are decent for quality and selection. Meats on sale are such a great savings.

It’s the best grocery store I go to but… it’s not always. Sometimes too many things not stocked and I can’t buy. Sometimes staff are not happy to see me, sometimes are. Miss some of the old staff I hope they are good. Stay on top of your stocking and staying out of way in aisles

Ordered a Super Mario Bros cake and it was exactly as the online picture. Cake was also very delicious. Safeway is our first choice when it comes to custom cakes now

Always very clean n organized their customer service is ok. I have no complaints. Just the average in that department. But above average in how clean n put together everything is. They tend to have good quality stuff and everything is always fresh. It maybe a lil more money than a food co. But quality is surely important to them.

Love this store. Fresh vegies and fruits. Love the chicken salad from the deli. Also a great place to cash a check. My bank has been awful about putting two week holds on my paychecks from the state. No explanation given by them, but Safeway has really helped with this.

It’s often way too crowded here and doesn’t have everything I need, but they have so many good products for good deals—especially gluten-free/dairy-free ones—and staff are friendly & helpful!

I loved it before someone in my senior mobile pk showed me the BIG deals you get by clipping digital shopping deals! Who knew I was left behind from savings by not joining that? I guess folks who can't be computer tracked won't get the discounts that data tracking and all that extra cost provides. It's a weird world we live in, eh? But, that smaller recept helps.

Although I have been a loyal Safeway customer for over 10 years I have a couple of issues with my local store. First of all is the produce department. For the most part produce is okay but when they have problems obtaining from their regular sources they tend to substitute with GMO food which makes the melons never get soft and fruit generally does not ripen. My main issue is that I am disabled but like to be able to shop by myself and in order to do so have to use their motorized carts. They have two to choose from and they are in such poor shape it takes forever for me to get my shopping done. I wish that they would replace them. Other than that the staff is always so nice and accommodating, polite, and helpful and the store is very clean

Customer service friendly, prices are competitive so you will save money compared to Save Mart and Nugget in Davis. Safeways just for you app is even more beneficial highly suggest that you download the app Safeway just for you you save even more money with that app. Which works for all Safeway locations.

I used to love shopping here, but prices have significantly increased over the past few years (more than I've noticed at other places) and they're almost always seems to be a long way to check out. But what really bothers me now is that half the employees don't wear their masks properly--many of them, including the manager that was there the last time I visited wear their masks under their noses. Hello people you can still pass the virus through your nose & we are still in the middle of a pandemic, especially with the Delta variant going around. Employees need to have more respect and courtesy for your customers!!

It might be smart to check the bread in bags because I had seen a Natt fly or fruit fly or maybe a regular fly in my bread bag. Had to switch it out but I was pretty sketched out about a the food, just be cautious!

My car died today right in front of one of the store entrances when I was picking up my neighbor after her grocery shopping. A cart attendant politely asked me if I could move my car up a bit so as to not block the entrance. He responded considerately when I told him it wouldn't start. Shortly thereafter, two very thoughtful employees, Jot & Dakota (who I think may be store mgr), came out to see if they could help. Within minutes, they got my car started and I was on my way. I so appreciate their kindness which was above and beyond! Made the inconvenient experience encouraging. The excellent service in this store extends all the way out to the parking lot! Thank you, thank you!

In our household, we refer to this Safeway as "the good Safeway." It lacks all the petty annoyances of the other location in Davis but at the cost of size (this store is a little smaller). Quality is not sacrificed though--the produce and overall selection is great.

Very nice and helpful employees, store is always super clean and very well organized, if you take the time to shop smart, you will almost always find really great prices on both normal and high quality foods. And they have a dollar shelf with great quality knick knacks for the kitchen! I just LOVE this store!

I have difficulty finding the products I'm looking for at this location. For whatever reason, they tend to be out of the main product I intended to purchase. This has happened twice during my past three visits.Additionally, prices are generally more expensive than other grocery stores, despite selling identical products. Also prepare to use self checkout, as traditional checkout lanes are usually limited to a single cashier with another eight or nine lanes remaining dormant.

My third time at Lamp Post was a wonderful experience. I can't eat pizza due to my diabetic's diet. But I have no had their Greek Salad and their Southwest Chicken Salad (...my new favorite!). My friend and I dined under the Covid-era outdoor canopy...perfect!
