This place sucks by far. Groomer is very proud about how terrible her customer service is, and she lumped her manger Corey in there too. Please do not come to grooming. They will complain they have no help, no phone line, and that they don’t care that they haven’t answered your phone. Groomer is by far rude, and kept making these huffing and puffing sounds very upset she was busy. Imagine how she is with your animals. I understand it’s busy times, but there is a way you talk to people/ express your stress and anger better. This groomer had no control over her stress/ anger during work. Cory is the manger at this store.I wish there was a way they could retrain/ hire all new staff because it seems like it’s the same staff for years now and they despise there job.

Selection is good, but staff is extremely rude. I shop here often and I have not yet found one employee who does not behave like they absolutely despise their job and cannot stand customers. Very unpleasant experience and extremely unprofessional behavior.

Davis is SO blessed to have this very special crew working at this particular PETCO. I just went through Grace's line and she is always wonderful!Ani, Lilia, Emily are wonderful! I have met more wonderful employees but I get to talk to the four I mentioned a lot! I can't say enough good.things about everyone here. After a long day at work it's so nice to feel so welcome and appreciated at this Petco.They all know so much about animals too and its obvious they care care very deeply about animals. They all have a lot of experience too with the variety of pets they have!

Since getting my Sulcata Tortoise from an outsider, I have gotten all my supplies from this place. From lamp housing and bulbs to bark and water bowls. They have been very helpful in getting me what I need!!

Found a super cute dog carrier in their 50% off clearance section, but they wouldn’t honor the 50% off. They said it was their only clearance section so they just put it in there. Bag was $90 originally and the orange clearance sticker was for $65, but should have been $45. Just change sign to say “up to 50% off” if you’re not honoring it.

Took my toddler here to get his first fish. He picked it out and was really excited. We already had the tank set up at home so we weren’t going to buy a tank. The lady at the register would not sell to us because we didn’t have a 5 gallon tank at home but a 3 gallon one. We ended up having to leave the store and my toddler crying all the way to Woodland. Called and spoke to the manager and they said that it’s a recommendation but they reserve the right to refuse a sale if they feel animals aren’t going to a safe home. Ended up going to Pet Supplies Plus and it worked out in our favor because the fish there looked healthier and they had a better selection. I would recommend driving the extra 15 minutes to Woodland and get your fish there. As for this location, they lost a customer for life

I will always come here for my pet supplies because the employees take good care of their animals and continually improve their pet knowledge to help new pet parents. I got 3 of my small animals here and they have been happy and healthy for the past year.

This is a shout out to the Grooming department! Lori, I believe is the one running the show and she does an exceptional job. Always has a smile and pleasant greeting.Anthony does a phenomenal job with my very fluffy cattle dog mix, EVERY TIME. Quality work for a reasonable price. That's why I keep coming back.

If I could give it a zero I would. Today me and my autistic 4 year old son went in with his dad and my sons stepmom to purchase a beta fish for him. We had purchased a "beta 3 gallon tank" at another store. Upon going to the registered to pay for the beta, and the cashier register girl refused us the sale. She said she has extensive knowledge on betas and that she is refusing us the sale based on her knowledge that a single beta fish needs a 5 gallon tank. Keep in mind that they keep these fish in a small 1 cup plastic containers in the store which is very inhumane. Sometimes they even end up dying in there and they throw them away in the same containers. My son was emotionally distraught and left the store in tears. The register girl was a brunette, straight hair, medium built wearing glasses. We asked her if there is a sign that says that and she said that no they don't need a sign to deny fish sales. My son already has a beta fish in a esperare thank that is 3 gallons and is well taken care of. As a matter fact the tank is made specifically for betas. We ended up going to petsmart where they were more helpful and kind. They noticed how upset and emotional my son was and even gave him a discount son fish food. This store has very cruel staff that like to make children cry. My son is autistic and when he becomes emotional it is hard for him specially only being 4 years old to decompress and filter his emotions. I really wanted to be unkind to the register girl but my concern was my sons hurt feelings on being denied his fish he was promised we would get him. She had no regard on the costumer and I will be reaching out to who ever is above everyone in that store for causing my disabled son such grieve. I want to see this dam policy she made up in her head. Point is, don't go to this petco. And don't take your kids there. I am highly disappointed n that young lady but mostly I am sad my son was treated in such matter and he couldn't even understand why.

Usually fairly quick and easy. Only two occasional annoyances. 1) about a quarter of the time they only have one cashier and you can be stuck in checkout longer then necessary. 2) they like to reorganize the store fairly regularly, so every two to three times I come in for dog food, I have to spend time seeing where they moved my brand to.

We just had a really bad experience with the PETCO Groomer at this Davis store. They didn't trim our dog nails or paws hair because they said he didn't like it, while every other groomer has done it in the past with no problem. They also did cut hair on his ears, which we did't ask for, and they did a really unprofessional work. Now we'll need to take him to an actual groomer to get it fixed. It was very expensive and dissapointing. When we complain at the store, they discounted $10 for not being able to do the nails. But, we had to pay for all the other SPA things they did that we didn't even care about.

Very small selection and quantity of pet food. I went in for a specific can of dog food. They had 6 cans. I’d have to shop twice a week. No thanks. It’s like shopping at a convenience store now.

this location has the most mentally challenged staff i have ever seen at any store in my life. just go here and you'll see what i'm talking about. i tolerated it until they were so shockingly rude to me and other customers on multiple occasions, and now i order all of my pet supplies on amazon instead. i'll describe a couple instances on the top of my mind. i pointed out that the chameleon wasn't doing well (since petco is notorious for their poor reptile care and wrong care instructions) and suggested they take it to a vet politely, and the worker there checked herself and decided the chameleon was fine (a retail worker is not a vet) and was very rude to me about it. another time right after christmas, there was a sale sign over the dog beds that said $100, and i got the bed directly from the section with that sign. when i went to check out, it came up as $200 and i nicely said "oh i saw a sale sign right by it that said $100," thinking that she would either correct the price or correct me if the sign was for some reason in the wrong place or something, but instead she very rudely said she had no idea what i was talking about and that bed would never be on sale, etc in a very aggressive tone. being around the staff here already makes me uncomfortable because of how weird and unintelligent they are, and it just makes it so much worse how rude and abrasive they are to customers. whoever is in charge of hiring at this location needs to be psychologically assessed and fired.

I scheduled a grooming 3 days ahead of time for my Labrador at 9;45am, on the day of my appointment at 8:57am I received a message on my phone stating I need a note from my vet for my dog to be bathed there. I called the store 18 times in 30 minutes , no one ever answered. I then received a text confirming my dogs appointment , 5 minutes later.i received a cancelation text from petco. Do your jobs people. This is terrible service. I have also made a complaint with the corporate office. I'll never go to petco again

I am very concerned about the treatment of their animals. The aquatics section was completely decimated, not a single tank had a living fish let alone a plant. The Store smelled unusually foul and not a single employee in sight apart from the cashier.

The staff is always lovely. Once or twice they didn't have what I need in stock, but I think it was a supply issue. Otherwise, they always have what I'm looking for at a good price. Also, they rarely have sales and coupons to save some money! Also, they always offer to help bring my purchases to my car. I've never taken them up on it but they always offer, it's so kind.

So I made an appointment for my three dogs, they told me I needed vaccination papers for each of my dogs which I brought with me. As you can imagine it is not easy to bring three dogs to an appointment together having a busy schedule but I did. It wasn’t till I got there that they told me they couldn’t see one of my dogs because they needed some paper for her medical condition. So they want me to leave two of my dogs and bring a third one back at another time. I’ll never be coming back to this place ever. I knew there was a reason I like PetSmart better than Petco and I was reminded

You can get some good deals here if you shop prices against their sales with their competitors. Their staff members may have some knowledge but generally do not. About half of the fish I've bought here die in short order, so don't count on healthy fish from this location. I've also found their animals to be healthy looking but not always in clean cages or with adequate food or water, but that's why you buy them, to take them home and give them a better home to live in!

My dog loves being groomed at the PetCo in Davis. Emily is our groomer of choice. She treats my dog like her own and has established a warm and loving relationship with him. She is very personable, friendly, efficient and always has him groomed in a timely manner. She’s the best!

I feel like I'm here every other week picking up stuff for my cat: litter and cat food. The visits always go well and the staff is nice.The only downside is they seem to be perpetually low on stock of Purina Pro Plan wet food. We ended up having to switch our cat to Hills just so he'd have a reliable supply of food. But no biggie - apparently he likes Hills better anyway!
