Been to a couple of Pet Food Express locations to use the self-serve wash area and grab some treats/toys for my doggo and this is by far my favorite! The staff are especially friendly, the self-service dog wash area is always clean and stocked, and the shelves are always full when I need to pick up some supplies or treats!A general note on Pet Food Express self-wash: Tokens are super cheap ($15 last time I was in) compared to taking my boy into a full service groomer and the brand of shampoo they offer (EarthBath) is one of my favorites! There IS a 30-minute or so time-limit on how long people can use the wash station.My doggo weighs about 80 pounds and has pretty short hair (he's a shepherd-rhodesian ridgeback mix) and I have never had a problem with finishing everything before the time is up. It's plenty of time to get him scrubbed down, rinsed off, and most of the water knocked off by the blow-dryer. I typically towel dry him a bit afterwards with the provided towels as he's a big chicken and can't handle the dryer for a long time anway. I COULD see the time-limit being an issue with a large, thicker-haired dog as it takes a lot more time to get through the process.

Awesome place with great staff. Manager took half an hour explaining all the pros and cons, going through the process of how dog food is made to help my dog's food allergies. The food she recommended works great for my dog. He enjoys eating it and no allergic reaction! Thank you so much!The buy 3 get 1 free of any item in the store is awesome. Wish more places did this. I always get 3 big bags of dog food and get the 4th free!

The older lady was very rude to me, she really didn't have to be. it was unnecessary and unprofessional. Don't know what was up hers but her whole demeanor was very mean, uninviting, towards me you're having a bad day don't take it out on others I have worked cashier, retail for a long time and customers have been extremely rude to me and I was still very very nice and helpful she needs to learn how to be more professional by not bringing her personal issues to work that's not my fault you have issues. after our encounter now I don't even want to go back there I like the other girls they are actually HELPFUL and PROFESSIONAL but other ol lady had ruined my experience here. Such negative Karen vibes. 🙄😒

The store is nice, but the pet wash does not allow enough dry time for a double coated dog. Your have to pay double just to try and get enough time to dry them! Thisis the second time I've left with my dog still soaking wet, and i wash quickly because I know my time is limited. I won't be back, as they are snotty if you ask for more dry time, and I can't afford to pay twice every time. I'll just do it at home.

I have been purchasing dog food from the Davis, CA location for more than two years. However, recently I went to Higby's in Dixon (10 min drive), I noticed that the same NutriSource Chicken/Rice #30 lb bag of dog food was priced at $51.99, which was significantly less than the $64.99 charged by Pet Food Express in Davis. This price difference is quite substantial, and I believe that Pet Food Express needs to reevaluate its pricing strategies to avoid price gouging. Pet Food Express price match policy is antiquated, they want me to call Higby's everytime I purchase dog food, so they can price match. This way of doing business is not practical in any way.It appears that Pet Food Express prioritizes profit over customer service.

I love this place! I tell all my friends to switch! I appreciate that the staff are a little less chatty nowadays. They're still knowledgeable, but I don't have to plan several extra minutes for a conversation that is just too deep for a quick visit to grab a bag of food. I like the items they carry and I will continue to come here. It's just the best in town!The only thing I don't get there is wheatgrass. Nugget, the co-op and Safeway usually have it and for a comparable price and it's sometimes fresher (not always). My cats prefer Nugget wheatgrass. But still, Pet Food Express all the way!

As a first-time puppy owner, I love coming here. Everyone I speak to is friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. They are always ready with treats for my pup (now 8 months) and they were very helpful and encouraging during his first shower. Plus, the pet wash is a great deal!This store and everyone working here are great resources! Thank you for all of the support!

This was my first visit to Pet Food Express and was very impressed. I was greeted as soon as I entered. My order was ready for pick-up and while I waited for the clerk to retrieve my order I looked at dog toys. I was told about a special I immediately took advantage of. Staff was very helpful I interacted with 3 store members in the short time I was there. I drove from another city and it was definitely worth my drive.😊👍

A previous reviewer mentioned weird vibes. Definitely true. I’ve been followed around and over-asked so many questions about my pet when I wanted to be left alone, and lately the employees don’t say anything, much less move out of the way when stocking, or even say excuse me. I used to love the store, it got weird and I shopped elsewhere, but on occasion when I do come back, it’s disappointing. Not to mention the store is 90% dog stuff, 10% cat stuff. No other animals seem to be included.

The staff are very attentive and helpful, and they love pets! When I take my puppy in with me, he gets lots of love and attention. The products are substantial and well made. The dog food is high quality and the staff are helpful and knowledgeable about what is in the food as well as the dog treats, chews, and toys. The bath area is clean with plenty of shampoo and towels, it is waist high so no back strain, the water is warm, and my puppy is happy. Me, too!

Very helpful staff... To the point I had to say, I'm just looking three times to the same employee before they allowed me just to look around by myself. A little pricer than a box chain but it save on time by being in Davis and so not having to drive out of town. Also after having to asked them to put something back because I was able to find it some place else cheaper they were very courteous and didn't make me feel bad about it, which is awesome. They have a self pet wash which I am looking forward to trying.

We were there for an adoption event. They carry many higher-end items, but did not carry some commonly used, moderately priced, pet foods. The brand the SPCA (holding the event) recommended was among the brand's they did not carry. Very clean, nicely appointed store. The staff was polite and helpful.

The employees are what really make the Davis Pet Food Express shine! Staff are caring, knowledgeable, helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make sure you and your furkids are happy. This is a smaller store in comparison to national chains, but they carry a well-chosen selection of high quality food and treat brands as well as supplies, supplements and toys. If your pet doesn't like a food you can return it within 30 days for a full refund, as long as you have your receipt and the food is in the original packaging. The store also has an awesome self-service pet wash and they host VIP vaccination clinics. Various rescues bring adoptable pets on the weekends; there is a monthly schedule at the front of the store near the registers.

Staff is really friendly. It's very convenient to bathe your pets here, for 25 min of use at a self-service dog washing station it's $15. You get towels and they have a bowel of treats for the doggos after their "traumatizing" experience.

I have brought both a cat and dog to the store. The staff is so friendly they help you find everything you need and ask for your pets needs such as dry skin or if they shed a lot. And they sometimes give out little free treats for you pets to try so that just in case you have picky pets they can get a taste before buying treats they won’t like and waste money (I know I don’t since I like to make good investments) and. Though it is expensive I am a 17 year old and since I wanted the pets I pay for there every need of course I knew that pets are expensive lol so the prices are average compared to other pet stores.

Was a pleasant surprise to come home open the bag of treats and toys I got my dog and there was a hand written thank you note inside and a $10 dollar off coupon for next time 🙂 was in the store for a minute but looked very clean and they got everything and then some..aleast for my dog they do..I recommend going here I liked it.

The employees here are very welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. They have a nice selection of quality treats. Pets are welcome. I like to take my dog in and let him pick out what he wants because he is spoiled. They also have a washing station. There's also a small patch of grass outside with waste bags if you head over there but your animal needs to make a potty stop.

Store gave me weird vibes the moment I stepped foot. Walked in normally and both employees saw me and took then a good 5 seconds to even welcome me in, however other customers were greeted and not having even entered the establishment yet. Also, you would think it's a common thing to say excuse me when working around a customer, not even that. Off vibes definitely.

The people that run the bunny adoption service were rude. They were also pushing for me to adopt every animal I interacted with like they were all "the one". I ended up adopting from House Rabbit Society. Aside from that, their store selection is pretty good.

Besides several general cat food brands, this store also provides some unique brands that you cannot found in Petco and Petsmart. I shopped in store and got "buy 3 get the 4th free" deal! The staff was so friendly!
