This is a family owned business, they're friendly and knowledgeable. I take my birds in to see Ray for nail and beak trimming. I get seed and treats from them. I'm definitely a returning customer. I highly recommend to everyone looking for a great pet store

Called 10-20 times on different days and no answer, drove by twice and they were closed. Hand written note on door says open after 2pm. Finally got there around 4pm while they were open and was super disappointed with how rude they were. Their customer service sucks. All the bird tail feathers are so mangled you know they are stressed from small cages. Habitats are undersized. Do better

Update again: I happened to be driving by and noticed this place was open so I stopped in.The animals are not well cared for, lots of malnutrition, and the place smells of ammonia from poor husbandry.I decided to buy a tarantula which had a price of $16.99 written right on the container. I confirmed with the employee who I was working with that this was the price.When I go to check out, the owner is at the register. He says, “You know I can’t give it to you for that price.” Then says the priceis $25.He doesn’t know me at all, so it isn’t like it was personal, it’s just the way they do business. I argued a bit about how the listed price has to be the actual price but the owner definitely couldn’t care less.Once again, I can’t emphasize enough that this place does not deserve your business. Go somewhere that’s honest, actually shows up to work, and perhaps most importantly: care about the health of the animals they sell.Older review:Update: tried calling today 1.5 hours after they are “open”. Still closed, or not answering their phone anyway.If they regularly can’t be there at their scheduled hours, they should really value their potential customers time by modifying their hours to when they can reliably be there.Original:I’ve never even been in the store. I hear it’s nice.Unfortunately, I’ve driven there 3 different times over a few months (July, August and September). Each time I’m well within the posted hours, and all three times they were closed.I wouldn’t go there unless you can confirm it will actually be open when you arrive. Unfortunately, their posted number also doesn’t work so there’s no way to do this.Accumulated over the 3 times I’ve driven there, I’ve lost over an hour and a half of my time and about $20 in gas for nothing.It’s a shame, a place that seems like a good store ruined by unprofessional owners.

A great small business. Family operated. They are very knowledgeable and can offer advice regarding pet's. We get our dog, chicken and bunny feed all from this location. We purchased a dwarf bunny for our daughter for Christmas and we instantly fell in love. Good prices and a great selection on different animals available. Definitely a return customer and i would highly recommend it.

This place is absolutely inconsistent with week to week prices on their feeder rats. I've been going on and off since December to get weekly rats for my snakes but this guy can't remember his own prices so every week it's something different.

I've been coming to Pet Palace since I was a little girl. Ray and his family have always been so friendly and helpful. I recently bought my two Chameleons from him and he helped me find a healthy food for my dogs. Ray's knowledge of animals is phenomenal and visiting his shop is always an enjoyable experience that I look forward too. I highly recommend going to Pet Palace in Covina for all your pets needs.

Great assortment of birds and reptiles. Birds of all colors and sorts. The range of types of lizards available is amazing as well. The gentleman who runs this place is always kind and helpful. I suggest this place over the bigger pet stores for these animals.

Place is small and cute. They pretty much have majority of what you need . The owners are really nice and friendly and if you have any questions or concerns, the owner is really knowledgeable and he will tell you like it is. I come here very often to get my bearded dragon crickets and worms. They have birds and reptiles for sale as well as the food to feed them, wether it's dried, frozen, refrigerated or live.

Love this place and the couple that owns it are so sweet and knowledgeable and always willing to help, not sure why they would ever have bad reviews. I get my feeder rats here, my mom and I have picked up 2 mini lop bunnies, one ended up passing (I think from eating cat litter?) and they gave us another dwarf! They put us both onto the rabbit (liquid absorbing) pellets for our cats and there’s no smell at all. Great pet shop with pretty much everything!

Waited there 2 hours for them to open. People waiting there also told me the owner shows up when he wants to. Bought my son a young ball python. He loves his new pet. Turns out the python has mites. My poor son has been spending all his money on things he needs to get rid of the mites. It's a pain in the neck. It's been 3 weeks already and almost rid of them. Pet store was dirty. Never going back again. The owner was rude also.

Stores never open on time just sat out there for an hour. The number that they have is no longer active go to a different pet store first hit or miss 90% of the time with this one.

Ray is a nice guy, but those store hours don't mean a thing. Sometimes it's open, sometimes closed. Sometimes an hour late, sometimes only 15 minutes late. Makes it difficult to schedule when to stop by.

The store is pretty old school. The animals are kept in pretty cramped conditions, however truth be told most of the animals are trade ins and are outta the door within the same time they arrive. The staff are pretty friendly and have definitely got the respect of the general area. I do recommend it for a quick stop in to see if they have something rare or exotic. However I wish they'd just increase there reptile space it make the store all the worth while as it's fairly clean.

I been coming to Pet Palace since I was 15 years old to read some of these comments is disturbing. Marie and Ray are the most kindest people I know. Every time I’ve gone the cages are clean pets well fed and Ray always giving me advice. I buy many animals that were neglected or abused and the veterinarian said most of them wouldn’t survive I take down to Ray and he tell me how to care for them and guess what! They all lived...Throughout the years I’ve purchased many items from Ray or his father and never had problems with any of my purchases. In my collection I have purchased 4 juvenile snakes last summer they are all well eating good and healthy.

I love this place. I've been going here for the last 2-3 years to buy mice for my corn snake and there's at least 2 big-name pet stores I pass on my way. I can buy 3 mice here for the price of 1at those big-name stores. The best part is, I always take my little dog with me when I go, and they give him free treats

I purchased a baby soft shell turtle from the owner. He said that the turtle lives well in warm water & with tetra fish, so I spent the $36 for the baby & brought it home. I added alittle water from the tank into his container & let him sit for a 1/2hr. He looked good so I put him in the tank. He swam around for about 15 minutes the all of a sudden he was just floating around. So I took him out & put him back in his container. He didn’t look alive anymore so I took him back to the shop & the owner told me that he was attacked by something & his eyes looked shut. So he said that my tetras bit his eyes & put him in shock. He said that it was not his fault & that he would not refund or switch out. In my opinion this guy is a thief & doesn’t belong selling helpless animals because he doesn’t know anything about them. Please be aware.

Got a bunny and they charged me $70 for a small bunny. I over heard the lady say $50 and the guy said no charge them $70 I’m upset that he knew we really wanted the bunny and took advantage of the price. I did buy the bunny because my son really wanted one but I will not go back there to get a second one. This is not ok to take advantage of people.
