Honest review.My 4 star review is in context of the location which is in the middle of nowhere in a small town with few amenities, typically used by passers-through.First, the few reviews you might read about the place being dirty or unsafe are completely unfounded, there must be a bit of competition or bad will in this little town. Second, you get what you see, don't expect more and don't expect luxury.My room, #9, was perfectly fine, and in fact a little cozy. If I had any major complaint (although honestly, this didn't bother me because I run hot and I had been skiing all day), it's that my room was about 55F inside on arrival, although I did arrive before official check in time and have no idea if they turn on the heaters in advance. Given the style of heater, it took a while to warm the room up.The room was quite clean, absolutely outdated in terms of technology and design, but absolutely fine. Everything worked, the TV, Dish (old school!), the microwave, etc. If I had a minor complaint, it's that they use a scented laundry detergent or dryer sheets and I'm one of the 30% of people who are sensitive to smells and would have preferred the place use non-scented/sensitive products like the majority of hotels do. However, it wasn't overwhelming and I was fine.One odd thing, the front desk person--who was very nice, didn't speak English very well and seemed confused about what to do with me until calling and speaking to someone else. Also, it was a bit odd to unintentionally peer in and see that he sleeps in the room behind the desk on a small mattress located on the floor. But, it's a small town and it is what it is. Didn't hurt or harm me one bit...Last thing, if it's winter, be sure to keep the door between the room and the bathroom open at least a little. The heater only heats the bedroom and if you close the bathroom door fully, you may find you have a chilly bathroom in the morning, at least until the shower steam warms it up a bit.I'll stay here again for the exact same reason, leaving Mammoth from a long day of skiing to get a good night's rest before driving onward.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay in the heart of the Sierras. The knotty pine room and decor made the experience authentic and everything was clean and functioned well. I accidentally left my purse in the room and they found it and returned it with every dollar in the wallet. Beautiful, comfortable, and a VERY honest family run business I am happy to support. We look forward to our next trip.

I stayed here on short notice after a truly terrible experience when attempting to check in down the road at the Meadowcliff Lodge Coleville KOA with Scott who runs that place. I was very shaken from the condescending and rude way in which I was treated there at the Meadowcliff Lodge and was able to secure a room here at Toiyabe Motel with very short notice. I cannot say enough great things about the exceptional level of service, rooms, and setting here. It is just splendid! Super cute rooms and nice size TV. Very cozy and quiet and the scenery is just beautiful. I enjoyed the lovely courtyard in the morning and the nearby coffee shop and burger stand, which are very close. Thank you so much for making a highly unpleasant experience at Meadowcliff Lodge Coleville KOA almost worth it because I discovered this gem! They were also more than accommodating with my service animal and just a pleasure to deal with all around. Thank you so much!

Called ahead and was told it would be $99 for the night. Arrived and the reception guys tried to charge me $129.The walls are paper thin. You can hear very quiet conversations in rooms next to you among other things...The room was otherwise fine but I wouldn't stay here again.

Wonderful stay! :-)Excellent high speed internet, well groomed grounds to relax in. Clean room, comfortable bed. Friendly management. We do have two regrets: 1) We wished we had arrived earlier to enjoy the park-like grounds, and 2) we wish this sight allowed us to award more than 5 stars! Will definitely go out of our way to stay here again! :-)

Excellent service!!We stayed for memorial day weekend. Clean and cozy room which has rustic cabin theme. Hotel staff are super nice and welcoming..! Located in between mountains good to relax.Bathrooms and bed are well maintained..Love the vibe with lights and serene feels.Will definitely stay here if am around topaz.Best value and best price.Limited to no food options after 10pm which was informed by motel staff a day before itself- nice of them!

If you are looking for a nice, clean, friendly motel in the area, this is it! We were very impressed with how cozy the room was. Spotless! Beautiful. Quaint. Highly recommended! If you drive in at night, this motel has the most illumination and welcoming vibe. During the daytime, they even have a courtyard with tables and a beautiful trout statue. You can't go wrong.

Such weird rude people. We are driving home from Reno and pulled in to this place to change our baby real quick. While I understand I am not a guest of the hotel, it seemed like a safe place to stop for just a 5 minute break. Immediately an older white late comes out and asks if she can help us, I say no we just had to stop for a second for our baby we are headed home to california. She responds very curtly saying this is private property and we need to pull back on the highway. I say I'm sorry and we will be leaving in just a minute. I assume this interaction is over. I very quickly change my son buckle him and get going. As we pull out there is an older white man filming us and flipping us off. I found that to be completely unnecessary and quite strange reaction for an honest mistake which I quickly apologized for. Very odd and uncomfortable. The place had a for sale sign up. Makes sense the couldn't stay in business if that's how you treat passerby's.

The best Motel I stayed in. Very Clean, So Cozy, close to highway, very friendly and welcoming staff. Birds and mountains around adds to the peace this Motel offers. Plus. very affordable.Highly recommend for visits to Lake Tahoe or scenic drives on US-395 down south. Drove about 10 miles south from this Motel and witnessed Stunning Stargazing in pitch dark sky.will re-book if and when I have a chance. :)

This was an incredible surprise and ended up being one of my favorite stays, ever. The place has way to much charm to describe and the property is kept in impeccable shape by a very friendly set of family owners. I loved it here. We weren’t able to stay as long as we’d liked The burger stand across the street is incredible too and can easily be walked to.

This hotel is a one of a kind experience. I was amazed at what we got for the low price. It feels like having your own little cabin. Beautifully decorated and squeaky clean. The owners were very accommodating of our late check in. They left the room unlocked with the key inside for us.

What a find. Superb rooms, great location, fantastic service. Rooms and very clean and comfortable. The service is phenomenal the front office folks are so warm and friendly. Location superb an hour and fifteen mins to Lake Tahoe and about an hour to Yosemite east entrance. Just sitting outside the rooms with the hills in the backdrop is so beautiful. I wish I can give it 6 stars. Wonderful coffee shop half a mile away too.

Delightful cozy place to stop and spend the night. Very friendly helpful on site managers. A mom & pop type of place. We enjoyed our one night stay. Cozy knotty pine cabin style room. Very comfy beds & great television with Christian & family channels. The motel is direct across the street from Walker 🍔 Burger the best burgers ever. The motel is so interesting quaint and in a picturesque setting. We'd definitely return! Good value on nightly rates.

Cozy, clean, comfortable rooms in a wood cabin style. Fantastic showers. If you hunt or fish there's a courtyard area set up for food prep and grilling. This should be your first choice if you're passing through the area, it's memorable in a good way.

It's a quaint little motel. MUST wear your mask when entering the office. Room are small but adequate. No AC, but they really don't need it there... they've got evaporative water coolers there to keep the rooms cool. They have a lot of nice picnic tables, outdoor sitting areas with a well landscaped park/garden. Best to get a reservation beforehand--they are quite popular.

We were completely impressed. We run a trucking company and my driver needed to stop for the night. Because we never know where he will be, all our bookings are last minute. My driver stopped to see if he had a room. The man he spoke with was very nice and even allowed me to provide our company credit card over the phone to pay for the room for him. My driver was very impressed with how cozy the room was and said he got the best night's sleep he's had in a while. This is on our definitely stay again list.

This is such a cozy and lovely place to stay. We were arriving late so they told us how to access our room and even turned the AC on so it would be cool at our arrival time. The decor is woody. The rooms are super clean. The little garden is very nice to have breakfast or late night tea. It is also very kids friendly. My son rode his scooter all over the place. I wish I could stay longer!

Checked in a lot later than anticipated and they were helpful in letting us know how to find our room. Room was nice and cozy and the motel itself was really nice and cute! Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is bc the bed and pillows were a little hard but that's ultimately down to preference. Would recommend this motel :)

The motel itself is quaint, with nice decor and a friendly atmosphere. The staff was courteous and competent. The two bed room was very small, but clean and well decorated. The beds are comfortable. There is indoor air conditioning, nice large TV and small microwave and coffee pot. The bathroom was very spacious and clean. Plenty of towels, soap, shampoo and a hair dryer. Outlets are few, but easy to access. Free wifi and parking directly in front of the room rounded out the amenities of this excellent little motel. The only negative thing I can think of is the soap and shampoo were horrible. Bring your own. All said, it was a great place to spend the night.
