Update: Below. We reserved this place for 5 nights. It was our anniversary. This place started off alright but my room smelled like smoke. We told the management and they blew it off as the first use of the heater. We were concerned because they say they charge a 350 dollar cleaning fee for smoke damage. After that morning, we got a call while away at 1 PM. We had to leave because my brother passed away from a massive heart attack. When I walked in to tell them, the first thing the lovely lady said was, we do not give refunds. She didn't even acknowledge the horrible moment we just had gone through.Needless to say, they wouldn't offer any portion of a refund. We only stayed 1 night. They actually charged my Ccard at 7:30Am the morning before we even arrived for the full amount of $524.16. These people are heartless, greedy and evil in my opinion.Update: since I cannot respond to the owners comments in their comments. You mention :tragedies..Recovering from this loss and living their best life". DID YOU EVEN READ MY REVIEW?My brother died! Then you try and twist he story around by saying "Because you left and called after the fact, we had no idea of your plans"This is not how it went down. If you had read my review, we went to the office before we left and told her we had to leave because my brother had a massive heart attack. The heartless lady immediately said, "we do not give any refunds for emergencies"I stayed one night and left by 1PM the next day. If it was your busiest month, turn off the "No Vacancies sign out front"The room would have been rented. It would have been legal and ethical. As a small business owner. I find your business is greedy, heartless and clearly unsympathetic. Regardless of your "Contract", you clearly have no empathy and try and twist the story like you really care.Charging my Credit card before I even arrived is greed at it's finest.Just maybe you need a little Jesus in your life pal.

We stayed only one night here and I literally called as we were driving down the road to reserve. It was an unexpected gem! The pool was a fantastic surprise, my kids (9 & 11) loved all the games and hunting for lizards! It was surrounded by beauty and so peaceful. The campground staff were all so welcoming and helpful, it was a happy little accident that we found Meadowcliff Lodge!! If we are passing through again, I would stay in a heartbeat!

We checked in about 12noon on Saturday and the check in process was great. Friendly staff and super quick. We reserved a pull-thru site and it was perfectly level.Sites are all level, picnic tables were in great condition. Laundry room was clean. The whole property was well kept and quiet.Would definitely go back to this RV park.

We plan our church group every year here. Very accommodating. Several rooms were booked and clean and campsites are always prestine! Only issue is not even a service dog is allowed in motel portion of the lodge. We ended up having to keep for the owner in our rv. And no one can even come to visit a guest unless they pay for the night. These are the only issues we've ever had and absolutely love Tim and Scott for taking such good care of our group in all other ways. Blessings to you both 🙏

Beware their check-in cut-off time is 8PM, if you reach beyond that they would not check you in, would not leave your keys in a box and most importantly would not refund you.I booked a room last minute a day before at this location as I was travelling from the Bay Area to Lake Tahoe and wanted to stay for a night on the way, upon booking the property I got a text and email from the property the next morning notifying me about the last check in by 8 PM policy. This was a shock since I have never experienced such a policy in any hotel/Airbnb before. Granted they might have stated this policy in their booking policy itself, but at least to me this was not obvious, and I learned about this only on the day of travel. As I had some other commitments during the day, I reached out to the property about cancelling the booking since it was looking very difficult for me to reach here in time. The manager on the phone declined to leave out the key or cancel the reservation. Since I was left with no other choice, I decided to cancel some meeting and try and making it there by 8, however we met with an accident on the way and our car had to be towed. So, I was left with no choice but let this reservation go and lose my money. I also tried to call them again and explain the situation and they declined to refund even partially given the circumstances.

What a great place!! We stayed in one of their fantastic, and very comfortable, rooms. The scenery was spectacular and the staff was wonderful. We will definitely be back. Thank you again.Rooms: The room was perfect! The bed was extremely comfortable and views were amazing.Nearby activities: The staff recommended a great casino/restaurant just up the street. What a delicious dinner we had and then had fun doing a little gambling

Liked · great clean room. We got the ADA room, therefore the room had a good size. The normal rooms are very small. So be prepared to live in a narrow stay. Views from rooms are great.Disliked · Pool times are very short. On the internet, it stated 10-8, when we arrived it was shortened to 7 pm. And the pool was down a lot, as the chemicals weren't pH adjusted. Why couldn't this be done at night instead of morning? So don't expect to use the pool, when you wanna get around the area during the day.The Internet was prolonged and there was no cellular network. So be prepared to be a few days disconnected. and never plan on doing home office or trying to attend a meeting there. The restaurant next door is the best I ever ate. The owner just told me: He recommends some other places and cannot recommend this at all. To me, it seemed like it was a personal fight between the two. The owner of the restaurant never spoke badly about Meadowcliff lodge. Doing something like this just appears unprofessional and not long-term interested in a good symbiosis. Behavior like this will just harm your business. We stayed 2 nights, but coffee was only provided for one-time making. I should not have to ask for something like this. Service is there a bit to low.

I had 3 reservations at this KOA for labor day. My parents, who are in their late 70's, took a drive out to see the campground we were planning to go to. They were met with a very unfriendly man who chased them down yelling "you can't be here" . They stopped at the office and were met an equally unfriendly lady who was very abrupt until learning that they had an upcoming reservation. This KOA also has a "no guest" policy which is buried on the main KOA website under "info". That policy is unusual and should be prominently displayed. I expect a friendlier experience at a KOA. I have canceled my reservation and will be going elsewhere. I am also disappointed at the cancelation policy of 14 days (no refund) for a holiday weekend, which may be KOA wide, however I am quite sure those spaces will be rebooked quickly and paid for by myself and the new occupants.

I can't say enough good things about our stay at the Meadowcliff Lodge. The room was immaculately clean. The man and the woman we interacted with in the office were very friendly. Excellent value, beautiful views, comfortable beds, spacious rooms, strong but slow wifi (though I believe you can upgrade), nice bathroom. This was so much nicer than a 2.5 to 3-star chain hotel with a similar rating. Nothing is fancy and I prefer it that way. Convenient parking. No noise from the highway. Excellent restaurant on-site. I came here for a weekend with my Mom, but I will definitely be back with my husband before they close for the season.

I highly recommend this KOA if you're spending time in the Lake Tahoe area. It is so beautiful and peaceful here! The current owners have done an amazing job with maintaining and upgrading this campground. Sites are gravel and level, big enough for big this. There's a heated pool, laundry room, clean bath houses, a good size dog run with shade, a doggie wash area and a beautiful community fireplace that lights up at night. The people are friendly and the staff is very helpful. Meadowcliff Lodge/KOA is definitely an oasis in the middle of the desert.

The location of this lodge/campground is lovely. Tucked at the base of a hill, the views of the surrounding area are beautiful and the grounds are well kept.We called to make a reservation for a room at the lodge a few days prior to arrival. The lady that answered the phone was short and bordered on rude throughout the discussion. With limited options in the area, we opted to book it.When staying in the lodge, they have a very strict deadline of 8:00pm to get checked in. The were adamant about the deadline when we spoke on the phone. When we thought that we may be a little late, we tried calling, unfortunately we only got an answering machine telling us the office closed at 5:00pm. Thankfully, we arrived a little after 7:30pm, just before the lodge check-in deadline of 8:00pm. The gentleman that assisted us with check-in was very friendly and offered some good information about the area. We had additional family arriving after us and they were worried they would not make the 8:00pm deadline. The gentleman worked with us to allow for me to check-in for them so there wouldn't be any problems. We were grateful for them working to ensure the family would have a room for the night. We were disappointed to find that the restaurant next door was closed for the night, but the small store at the lodge/campground had some items for purchase.Another family member had a reservation for the campground, in which they are much less strict on arrival time. There was not a deadline for check-in, they had a system in place for those arriving after 8:00pm. Once they arrived and got set up, someone did come by the trailer to question whether or not they were the correct occupants. The room at the lodge was spacious and much more comfortable than we expected. There was a bed, table, desk, dresser, and fridge available. There was a large window near the door and there was a sliding glass door that looked out the back of the room. There were quite a few channels available on the television and we also had the opportunity to utilize their wi-fi for free. The air conditioning/heating unit was in the wall and we were able to control the temperature. The bathroom was spacious, although there was no counter space to spread out toiletries. The bed was extremely comfortable and the sheets were fresh. We slept very well. The next morning, we had planned to checkout by the 11:00am time posted, since we had a funeral to attend at 11:00am. We were shocked when the owner came to our door a little after 10:00am to find out why we hadn't checked out yet and to ask when we would be checking out. He was extremely rude and was questioning the people we had staying with us. We had reserved the room for 4 and he was accusing us of having additional people staying the night with us. Our family reserved four rooms and RV spaces for the night since we were in town for a loved ones funeral. To expedite getting ready, the bathroom was used by others in our family. The owners absolutely rude behavior at our room was uncalled for and made the situation even more horrible than it needed to be. There was absolutely no reason he needed to be standing outside our room making false accusations about the amount of people that stayed the night in our room and pushing us to checkout.Prior to our encounter the morning of checkout, we would have highly recommended staying at this lodge/campground. Due to the atrocious behavior, I would highly discourage anyone from staying here.

Beautiful park with gorgeous views and an *amazing* restaurant called Coachwhip right next door (which the KOA won't point out since they don't pay KOA to advertise). The downsides are: 1) a bit of highway noise; and 2) no EV charging allowed. (There is a Tesla Supercharger 10 miles away in Gardiner, though.)Also, note that they are serious about security and no visitors, which was comforting, even though they stopped us when we were walking back from the restaurant and followed us with their golf carts when we drove in to make sure we belonged there.

Unfortunately, we were only able to spend one night here but it was perfect!Their office closes at 6pm, but they were kind enough to contact us before then and get us all checked in. We arrived after hours and our key was waiting for us. There were employees there helping another family, and although we didn’t need their assistance, they were so nice! The room was super clean and the bed and bedding was so comfortable! The views were gorgeous as well! We’d love to come back!

We have stayed here a couple times now and love it! It is a beautiful place. The hosts have ALL been amazing. One of the things that we love about the place is that the staff watches the grounds closely, keeps it clean, are super helpful, and they enforce the rules which is awesome because we go to campgrounds like this so we don't have to deal with people who are only interested in throwing parties until sunrise. Being tenters we prefer the places that have some kind of quiet time. This weekend there was a large group of people over several different camping spots that were extremely inconsiderate and rude. Up partying long into midnight which made it a very difficult night for everyone in the campground. I had to put in my headphones (not comfortable to sleep in). The camp hosts did everything they could to get the people to be quiet and follow the camp rules (just like everyone else has to). We really appreciated that, the next nights were fairly peaceful.Friendly staff. Clean grounds and facilities. Very safe place. Peaceful. Will be back again in a month or so :)

My husband's family has been coming here for decades. I personally have been coming for several years. The first few years, there were no issues. We booked our rooms, fished, swam in the pool and enjoyed our family's company without concerns. These last few years is a different story with this last one taking it too far.We have a large group so we booked the whole side of the lodge by the pool (all but 1 room that was not occupied until Saturday). My family paid for my children, followed all rules and constantly picked up after my family extended and otherwise. We felt judged and looked down upon by the workers. They were constantly walking and driving by glaring and making comments. It was very unprofessional. My husband and his cousin helped all children out of the pool and to safety when there was a 6.1 earthquake and rock slide that looked as if it was coming right towards us. My family also helped you put out a fire that was caused by a news crew that night before the fire department arrived. We are very respectful people who were there to visit our Grandparents (in their 80s) and were treated as villains. We have already found a new venue for our future reunions and wish you take our reviews as a learning opportunity for your future guests.

What a nice place to stay! Rooms are clean and very comparable to other motels/hotels. The pool is clean, horseshoe pits, cornhole and a movie on the grass nightly! Most likely will be staying again. So nice, my wife wants to get married here!

Went on a long weekend, surprisingly got a last minute booking at such a beautiful place. Very beautiful view around the resort. Room was neat and clean. Very classic look. Nice and comfortable. The TV was from 80's, but who wants to watch TV when there is such a beautiful view outside your window. Will surely recommend this place.

Super clean, out of the 12+ KOA's we stay at yearly this is on of the cleanest and best atmosphere. I noticed a couple recent bad reviews from a family that was climbing on the rock cliffs. You state you are veterans (thank you for your service, our son is in the service as well.) But that being said you of all people know how to follow policies and procedures and if something is off limits in the military you do not violate those rules. All along the cliff there are signs stating do not climb the rocks all over the place you can't miss them, plave all over the trail next to the cliff. These are for the safety of the visitor's and this is also private property so if you do you are trespassing and breaking the law. You are also are in violation of the camp site rental contract you signed when you rented the site for this land owner. They have every right to protect their investments by removing the individuals breaking policy. Just because you are veterans does not mean you know how to follow rules and if you were still enlisted you would have been reprimanded for you actions for endangered others, violation of policies, and unprofessional actions while representing the military.

A rare find of aJewel just 2.6 miles south of Coleville, Ca along Highway 395. With the beautiful view of a jagged Rocky Mountain in the back, it was a treat staying there for a couple of days. Away from the city lights, you can enjoy the brightest of the stars all night long. Just an hour to South Lake Tahoe & Carson City this is the perfect place to stay to experience the peace & quiet of the solitude of the mountain. I highly recommend it.

A true jewel of the Sierras! We stayed here while exploring the east side of Yosemite and it was terrific. Clean rooms with all your basics. The grounds are very well kept with access to a pool, game room, outdoor games, and a play area for the kiddos. They also have a community fire pit and access to a grill. The owners, Tim and Mary, have a wonderful and knowledgeable staff and an incredibly well-stocked store. The restaurant on site knows how to get diner food right! We will definitely be back!!!

The nightly rates are not cheap, and include only two people per site. They charge extra for both the extra person per night, but also the extra car. I can see charging for the car, but since each site is stated to hold up to six people, why charge extra for every person over two. The sites with the patios are cute. We also think that we were over charged for our guest: two nights, though she stayed just one night. We decided just to eat the cost. But , though my family lives right down the street, we will probably not stay there again.

Been here a few times already, each time was great. Quite country town and this place is very pleasant. The staff were courteous and helpful. The grounds are clean along with everything else. I'll be coming back, it's great for a long stay or an overnight stop off the Highway 395...

Always wanted to stay here, and finally booked it. We were running some reconnaissance for future group camping/lodging, which we do every Fall and Spring.Showed up after hours and was "interupted" an hour before checkout, despite the Do Not Disturb sign, we'd put out, in order to get us to sign some paperwork they needed to cover potential damages, etc. That's fine, no big deal. We hustled to clear the room by 11am, as they stated they needed it cleared for incoming guests (placed looked 20% full, and check in is at 3pm, but okay.....I don't know everything).Made the mistake of asking if we could jump in the pool for 30 minutes, as we'd cleared the room, and there were only 2 people in the pool (Covid capacity at 10), but were told that "we'd already checked out, and there was no place to change". I've been to a thousand hotels , and 30 KOAs and I know you can extend the checkout time to noon, or beyond. I don't know what we did to offend these people, and they can explain it away in their polite response, but we felt judged, and like they just wanted us to leave.Good luck with your beautiful location, slightly musty, but decent rooms, and zero service with a smile

I deeply apologize for my first poor rating of the Meadow Cliff. This is what can happen when you allow small children to play with your phone. That being said, I do believe I am highly qualified to rate this restuarant, hotel and KOA as I live across the street. I have recommend the hotel to literally hundreds of people. Over a 23year period I severed thousands of people in your restaurant. Yes I do highly recommend the Meadow Cliff it is one of the most beautiful, restful places you can find yourself. If you ever find yourself traveling highway 395 stop in, have a cup of coffee maybe a piece of pie, better yet one of Sue Fowler's pancakes. If you have a little more time stay a while you really won't regret it.

We had booked a room on August 23rd for Meadowcliff Lodge for 2 nights over Labor Day weekend. One of the people going on the trip came down with Covid 19 and called me on August 29th to let me know he was unable to make it. I contacted Meadowcliff and explained the situation. I was told I would have to contact Expedia to cancel the reservation. I contacted Expedia and they told me they would contact Meadowcliff on my behalf. The following day, the US Forest service closed all the National Forests, which included all the fishing and hiking areas. Expedia contacted Meadowcliff and explained the extenuating circumstances, and asked them to refund the hotel charges. Meadowcliff said NO, that the cancellation had to occur by August 27th. Long story short, My family has used Meadowcliff Lodge for 30 years at least, and when Tim and Mary owned it, we never, ever had an issue that could not be resolved amicably. In the two years that these new owners have run the place, they have chased away several good families by treating their guests like a cash cow, and acting like a corporation and not a family owned business as Tim and Mary did.We were thinking about everyone that might be harmed, when we tried to cancel our reservation. Don't buy the reply that they were just following Expedia's policy, Expedia tried to negotiate with them, it was just a money grab. Andruss Motel is right down the road, drive the 5 minutes.

The woman working there had just closed the place as I pulled up, but she let me pick up some beverages despite that. Another guest came in a moment later and she also helped them, saying "take any of these campsites and come see us in the morning". She trusted them to come back and pay the bill in the morning, and she was also willing to answer some quick questions for them too.
