Really great!! Bought a land turtle and was really scared because I’ve never owned one but Evan the employee was super informative and helpful throughout every step of the way setting me up with the sand, nutrients, and huts and heat lamps! I couldn’t have had a much better experience with these guys!

Initially this was a positive review I am now editing, (gave a review because they’ll give you $5 off in store, even told my friend who wasn’t buying anything he could leave a review for an extra $5, makes sense how they have so many reviews now) I had no problems with staff or manager just owner/policy. Came in and spend $350+ on a ball python and everything for the enclosure. This is my first snake,I was instructed to not handle it for the first week after going home. After handling the snake for the first time I notice some discoloration on the belly(scale rot). I can be faulted for naïveté on my purchase but I didn’t cause this scale rot in a week. Brought the snake back to see what’s up and after the manager called the owner all I was told was “all purchases are final” and to soak the snake in warm saline. You’d imagine a small business to be less apathetic to a first time buyer who spends hundreds of dollars in their store and comes home with a sick snakePs, now that I’ve done the research it should’ve been a red flag they have snakes piled on snakes

Bought 3 fish and about 5 shrimps. Fish are doing good and even had babies, but only one shrimp survived. The 4 other ones died the next day. Bought a month ago from today. Evan cashier told me to write a review for them and rate them 5 stars but I waited until my fish were thriving but sadly my shrimps didn’t make it.

This place is amazing! My son just got a chameleon and we had no idea where to start, we went to a few different places and got very little help, until my mom recommended this store. Bryan helped out tremendously! Super knowledgeable and very friendly! We left there feeling very confident and knowing how to take care of our new family member! Highly recommended this store!

I recently moved to Clovis and bought a pet fish so I came here to buy some plants and some food for my fish. When I walk in Brett immediately greeted me and ask me if I needed any help. The staff was all friendly and he was able to find everything I needed for my beta fish namwd Rainbow.I even bought some shrimp and snail to help control the algae in my tank. I'm so excited to see my fish with new toys!!!

I hate to do it, but I unfortunately had to bump my original review down. I’ve been to this place a couple times now and as much as I want to love it and support a locally owned business, I just simply can’t justify it. Walking through the reptile section makes me incredibly sad, I saw some ball python enclosures with absolutely no hide at all for them to feel secure in (basics..cmon even petsmart has those for their snakes!). Just a couple ball pythons thrown in an arboreal enclosure. They looked incredibly stressed out. Nowhere to hide, just a small water dish and some substrate. There is another review here complaining about scale rot (given the conditions I saw, not surprised. When petsmart is doing better than you, there’s something wrong) and “snakes piled upon snakes”- it’s true. Im not familiar with any other reptile husbandry or salt water reef tanks so I can’t speak upon that, however from what I saw with what I am versed in, I would take my money elsewhere. They also give the employees giftcard incentives to get reviews and will give you $5 off for posting a review, so that explains all the 5 star reviews from customers literally in the checkout line. That’s direct information from an employee, he said if I left a 5 star review and showed him he would get a giftcard at the end of the month if he had the most reviews with his name in it. Next, I bought shrimp here and specifically asked for cherry reds. I didn’t inspect the bag in the store which I should have, but when I got home there were 2 blue bolts in there and one wild type. Listen, I get it, they’re small. But I’m running a cherry red breeding tank and can’t have them breeding with a blue shrimp. Partially on me for not checking, but c’mon, thats careless on their part in my opinion. Beware if you buy shrimp here, they keep all the colors in one enclosure so if you accidentally buy a pregnant one, there’s a good chance the fry will be all over the place color wise. Inspect your shrimp thoroughly before paying and walking out! However, if the employees can’t pick out some shrimp based on color (blue?!? Nowhere close man), then that’s concerning and shows what they think of their job. Also, pretty sure the employees make the price up on the spot. I bought a plant here a couple weeks ago for my tank. The guy said $10 for the plant, cool, whatever. I come back to buy the same exact plant, honestly the plant was half the size of the first one I bought and he told me $15. Sounds like they pull the price out of their heads on the spot. Also, read the actual reviews people. The owner is on there arguing with people, inserting politics, and insulting anyone who rates him poorly. I don’t care about political affiliation, but talk about poor business practice. I would love to support this place, but until they get it together I will no longer be shopping here.

Great selection of healthy looking salt water fish and invertebrates.Pretty good selection of fresh water fish.Went in to check the fresh water shrimp selection for future purchases. Was very impressed!As far as reptiles I don't know much but they looked healthy.

Walked in for a minute to check it out. Disclaimer: it’s Black Friday, but it wasn’t very crowded (maybe 2 families in there) and I don’t know if there was a sale at the store making it more busy than usual.Nearly none of the reptiles had water, including snakes and tortoises. Some of the heat lamps had been left off, and some tanks were (I’m not sure on the specifics, feel free to correct me) potentially overstocked and most had no hides/rocks/branches. Think 3 snakes piled together in a corner on some aspen shreds but nothing else in the enclosure but a small weird shaped water container. The young tortoises also didn’t have anything but those water containers which were empty, and because of the steep incline in/out of it, many were flipped over and couldn’t get back up.It looked like they had been fed in the morning based on the wilted leaves, but the staff hadn’t refilled their water. (I took a quick photo of one of the empty water containers, sorry it’s not the best quality but it does have evaporation lines on the bowl and hopefully gives a visual.)When we brought it up to the staff they said they hadn’t had time yet since there were only 2 on staff at the time - I totally get it for during the shift, but it’s still really concerning and off putting. It could be a management problem understaffing the store, or it could be that the employees didn’t take the time before the store opened to fully take care of the reptiles.The fish seemed ok(Also there was a door open to a small room w a super gross toilet and live crickets hanging out in the trash, probably a room of mixed trash and animal(?) storage. Not great vibes)

Nearly 2600 reviews for a Clovis small business? They must be doing something right! They certainly know how to get good reviews, that's what they seem to do best. I doubt their validity as it's used as a bragging point.Years ago they had a good selection of well maintained animals and decently priced aquariums, today I feel otherwise.There's literally a review of the company arguing with someone for leaving them a bad review, nothing polite was said. That's unacceptable, unprofessional, and extremely childish. Grow up.I've heard him complain about how much he has to pay his employees TO A PAYING CUSTOMER. Maybe that was his way of justifying the high prices.Anywhere with a no return policy knows something the buyer does not!2 stars because most of my aquariums came from them and they're still holding water. I've never purchased any living animal from them, I would strongly advise against it.Impossible to get this review approved. I wonder if a petty little owner bit off more than he could chew.

I was absolutely shocked when I read some of the negative reviews for this place! My wife and I have shopped here for fish & plants for over a year now, we have had the pleasure of dealing with Brian, Mike, Zach, and Conner each multiple times, and we've never experienced anything but the best help & advice they could offer.In the past year, their business has grown substantially. The store was a little cramped and very busy at times, but they've been hard at work and are making changes to accommodate the increase in foot traffic. I have had a better survival rate with fish from here than anywhere else I've tried, and the quality & health of their freshwater plants is superb. When we get to the store on a slow day, we are greeted with friendly conversation and legitimate concern for the needs of our underwater ecosystem. On busy days, we sometimes have to wait a while, but once it's our turn we always have our needs attended to in a friendly, professional manner.I have not bred/raised/kept reptiles in over a decade, but Conner is still always happy to chat with me about snakes and lizards while I'm there if he's not busy with other customers. I read negative reviews about the reptiles, but I feel like they're all written by people who have never WORKED in the reptile industry. Sand is a common substrate for lizards. Snakes, particularly young ones, cohabitate. Also, reptiles can get sick and / or die suddenly, especially young snakes and lizards after a sudden change in environment. I have never, in my life, been reimbursed for a reptile who fell ill or died shortly after purchase. It just happens sometimes, and it's not fun, but it's a part of owning reptiles. You can pay more $ for a larger adult snake or lizard and have much better odds, but that's why baby reptiles are cheaper. Also, in my experience, it is best to assume that everything in a local pet store is being sold as-is, without any guarantee unless warranteed by the manufacturer. As a rule, I always ask about return & refund policies BEFORE purchase.With that, I'll stop my rant and just say, if you haven't been here before, try them out. If you've had a negative experience, consider giving them another shot. If you don't want to deal with a crowd, call them and ask when their slowest times are, and try to stop by then. I've had such good experiences each and every time I've been here, and everything we've ever bought was well worth the money spent.Aquatic Pets is my first stop for anything aquarium related, and if I ever get back in the reptile game, I'm going straight there for everything I need.

I bought a 75 Gallon tank by itself Saturday 4/13/24 and it didn’t come with a lid, so I asked the guy what the price was for the lid and the guy helping me with the tank said $60. I said ok, I’ll be back for the top/lid, I went back today 4/16/24 asked for the lid and the guys went to get it from the warehouse. I asked $60 right? The guy said $100! How is it $100 when the guy told me $60? He said, Boss just priced it right now! Tried to get me for an extra $40, maybe these guys thought I was dumb or something, but you’re not getting me for an extra $40. These ppl will watch you walk in and price things as they pls to make extra money, I will make sure everyone in Fresno/clovis knows. Make sure ALL MY PPL/ASIANS NEVER SHOP THERE! VERY BAD EXPERIENCE!!!Ps: I said it was $60 Saturday and how is it $100 today? They guys said, you should’ve bought it that day!!! 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
