Great bacon cheeseburgers, turkado sandwiches, onion rings, and pie...with all of the "homemade" flair you could hope for. Super friendly owner & staff, eclectic general store, and the last internet/cell phone coverage you'll find on La Porte Road. Highly recommended!

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner - AND open daily, which is amazing for a backwoods place like this. Nice little market and cafe. Ate a decent omelette and enjoyed chatting with neighbors. Hung out on the front porch, soaking in the sunshine and watched the traffic go by.

This is actually called "Bigfoot Eats" now and is under new ownership. The menus are incredibly difficult to read, so make sure you bring your "reading glasses" with you. From the dark background, to the whimsical font, I could barely make out a few of the menu items. However, what comes out of their kitchen EASILY makes up for the challenging menu - the food was delicious!! The portions were huge, the quality was outstanding, and the service was just great. I highly recommend that everyone check this place out and SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY!!Vegetarian options: Veggie Burger was great

Stopped by on the way home from Little Grass Valley Reservoir and stopped in for dinner. Wasn't too sure how it would be, but I was not disappointed! In fact, I think it was one of the BEST cheese burgers I have ever had! The burger patty was so tender and flavorful--delicious! Highly recommend!!

A nice place to dine. We stopped for breakfast while on an early autumn road trip to the high Sierras. We both ordered the Early Riser breakfast with potatoes and toast. Everything was great. Service was fast and friendly. They also have a small grocery, a clean restroom, and can serve up scoops of ice cream and pie by the slice. Bonus: they accept plastic as well as cash.

The food in the restaurant is good and a little higher than reasonably priced. EVERYTHING in the grocery store is seriously over-priced. Also, the selection in the store is not geared towards day-to-day items for local residents but consist mostly of the kinds of things that tourists will need and forget to bring when they rush out of the house for a few days in the mountains. All in all, this store has become more of a trap for the unwary tourist then a connected part of the community in which it exists.

Surprisingly good lunch, I was not expecting the fries to be as good as they were. I had the chicken fried sandwich. Nothing outstanding there. She had the mushroom swiss burger, that was real tasty. Again, the crinkle cut fries were what stood out, not sure why or how they had them taste as good as they did, but I will take it!!!

We have eaten at one eyed Jack's many times. An have always enjoyed the serve an food. Went to LaPorte this weekend so we had lunch there on the way up very good. Sunday on way home stopped an ordered breakfast. Sadly today the meal was horrible. My bacon was deep fried literally. Sausage gravy was put on my biscuit cold toast was brought out dry with no butter an asked for jelly an she tossed a couple grape jelly on table...didn't even what I wanted. Very disappointing. Sure hope it improves before our next visit.

Fun and funky store and grill off the main tourist road. Good food and reasonable prices. Fresh homemade pies if you get there early. You can get a sandwich and snacks to go if you are in a hurry. Dont forget to say hello to the local porch sitters. They have many a story to tell! And what happens on the porch, stays on the porch!

Amazing place! Super friendly hosts. Very comfy backyard for outdoor breakfast and dinner. Kids could pet the bunnies while we were waiting for our lunch. Family owned and authentic!

This is a nice hole-in-the-wall. It's changed owners recently, I believe, and the general store vibe has been somewhat replaced by a cafe with a few cold cases for soft drinks and beer. The area has no cell coverage so they advertise internet via WiFi, but it's horrible and reminded me of the old days using a modem. Food is pretty good, atmosphere is fine, beer is cold.

First time i stopped at one eyed jacks. I had a veggie burger with grilled onion and mushrooms - swiss cheese. It was better the grrrrrrrreat. Salad was awesome didn't even need dressing - real fresh. Staff was friendly, polite, professional and very hospitable. Oh and the dessert fresh cherry pie was excellent. Food was so good took home a buger and chocolate cream pie for my husband. I can't even figure out way i never stopped there.. Can't wait for next time. I got a feel that i found a keeper.

The staff was friendly but not very attentive. I had to ask twice for silverware after having been served . I ordered Chili Cheese French fries and was served hard crinkle cut fries that were lacking in both cheese and chili. To say it was laughable would be too kind. It was absurd how little chili and cheese were added to the hard crunchy over done fries. Literally less than 2 tablespoons of canned flavorless chili and and a sprinkling of shredded cheese. So little cheese in fact there were probably less than 20 strands of cheese. And it was ridiculously exspensive. 3 cheeseburgers that were all less than adult sized and a order of hard chili cheese fries that lacked both chili & cheese cost almost $70 .

Was with the family traveling thru La Porte to see the snow, we stopped by so my 6 year old daughter could use the restroom while we were going to get a snack. They flat out told my wife they didn't have restrooms, so our little girl had to hold it longer. As we exited the building, we seen a sign that had "Restrooms" on it. Not only were we lied to, they basically denied to let a child use the restroom.

A+++++ Every local you meet is real, down to earth, and the most welcoming I've ever had the pleasure to converse with! Bought the two old timers on the porch, (well, young'ns really) bought them a beer and had the surrealest time I've had in years.
